One name has been floating around to be the next boxer that the winner will fight as mandatory - Jack Catterall. So I will assume that it will be Taylor vs Jack Catterall next. However, Josh has many options now, he can remain the undisputed champion, or drop or vacant some belts. Then super fight with Crawford since both are under the top rank banner. Then we have Davis or Teofimo Lopez looming move to 140 lbs as well after the George Kambosos fight. Lopez vs Taylor is also gonna be explosive and can easily be made by Top Rank, all in house money for Bob Arum.

And with that said, I will lock this thread and see you around for the next Josh Taylor find and I do hope that you tail my pick in the beginning of the thread.

Josh Taylor got the win but the fight was closer than it needed to be. In the last three rounds he was just trying to run out the clock and that's why the judges gave each fighter 6 rounds. The difference ended up being the knockdowns which took a lot out of Ramirez.
Yes the difference were the knockdowns but there were many instances in which I was wondering what Ramirez was thinking, it is true Taylor has a style that can be a little bit dirty at times but boxers have the instructions to always protect themselves no matter what and Ramirez dropped his guard many times expecting the referee to intervene and he received many punches because of it, he even showed his back to Taylor once which was a huge mistake and I think something similar happened with the second knockdown in which both fighters were in a clinch and Ramirez was expecting the referee to intervene just to receive an uppercut from which it took him many rounds to recover.
Yep, that is the difference here, I think Ramirez steals the last 3 rounds, but wasn't enough to overcome that 2 knock downs on him. That's Taylor style though, clinch and then throwing rabbit punches, good though that the referee did call it out. I like though the left hand punches, was short but it has power. Next for Taylor would probably another easy mandatory.

I think his next fight should be Terence Crawford and then win or lose he should go back to 140 to defend his belts against Teofimo Lopez. I don't think Taylor beats Crawford. He takes too much damage and didn't know how to put Ramirez away. Against Lopez it would be very close. Lopez is desperate to become a big star and make that PPV money. They are both trash talkers and I would expect their fight to be explosive.

Ramirez got too over confident and thought he could take the punch of Taylor, that's the biggest mistake that cost him the fight.

Ramirez was the hard hitter between the two, it was just Taylor who had the timing or have the lucky punch that knock Ramirez down.

Good fight though and hope that Taylor will meet Crawford in the 147 lbs division to prove his doubters wrong.

Regardless if it's 140 or 147 lbs, I don't think that Taylor will win against Crawford. Terrence has a very good boxing IQ and just adjust on Taylor style as the fight progresses. Now we have a unified champion at 140 lbs, Taylor almost clean up this division already.

He might need to fight a few more and win and then wait for Tank Davis for his biggest pay check. Fight some mandatories and keep all the belts at least for some time.

The knock down was the difference in the fight, it not, we might see a draw, I reckon.

Davis is also going to conquer this division as he has a scheduled fight with Barrios already. I'm not sure if Crawford will go back to 140 lbs. He is not getting any younger, nothing to proved in this division. He should stick to 147 lbs and fight other champions for paycheck.

To be on the safe side, I would say Taylor by decision @1.84.

It seems that this two fighters are going to be very cautious in the beginning and it's more of a chess match more than the Nery vs Figueroa wherein from the first round, they really engage themselves and it's up to their stamina as to who will be the last man standing or you will get a knock out.

So we might see a lot of actions in the 6th round here and then will go to the judges decision in the end.

Yes, Ramirez is the underdog here and sportbooks are favoring Taylor to win. But since both have great records, this will be a good fight to watch and may go the distance. Now, we are seeing more valuable fights. Better than exhibition fights, in my opinion.
Yes, this is unification bout, two champions fighting and only one will win.

Forget about those exhibition fights, that's all for the money and most of them are circus fight. This is a real and solid fight in the 140 lbs and we have seen the another great champion from 135 has move up to this weight. So everyone could have an idea as how this division will turn.

I really look forward to watching this match. It is not very often that we see fights for an undisputed title. The last one was Loma vs. Lopez but there was some controversy because some people didn't consider the Franchise title a real world title.
Right, I do hope that this division will have at least a good name to carry the weight class. And probably with this unification, it can have a good cover from the boxing media.

This will be a really close fight in my opinion. Ramirez's fights tend to be close because he gets hit a lot but he also throws a lot of punches. Taylor had a really close fight with Regis Prograis and I consider Ramirez to be of a similar skill level as Prograis.
I would say that Prograis is above Ramirez at certain point, but Taylor beat him already, So he has a blue print to beat a high pressure fighter like Ramirez.

Here are the undercards:

Jose Enrique Vivas vs Louie Coria
Robeisy Ramirez vs Juan Tapia
Andres Cortes vs Eduardo “Thunder” Garza
Raymond “Danger” Muratalla vs Jose Luis Gallegos
Javier "Milwaukee Made" Martinez vs Calvin Metcalf

These names are obviously not familiar, but maybe in the future we will hear some of them, either becoming a world champion or fighting for the belt.

I agree, this is really going to be a close fight, but Taylor might win base on output, and will land the clearer punch that will stood up to the judges scorecard.

So it's going to be war, each one will have it's moments, but I don't see anyone going down because both of this fighters have a tough chin.

Hopefully, this is a good fight as both are undefeated. I'm not familiar with these boxers, maybe they are not popular yet but since they are undefeated, I guess I'll give them time to watch this fight. Also, it's good that the odds are already out, other matches do not have early odds like this fight. Maybe I'll go with the underdog, good odds for an upset win.

I like it when two undefeated boxers with the same style collide, both are sluggers always ready to engage, this is going to be a very exciting match to watch and with both of them champions, so much is at stake here, I checked the highlights of their fights and both of them can deliver a knockout, this is going to be a close fight if they decide to engage and do not show hesitancy there will be a knock out here, I have Taylor winning but Ramirez is a dangerous fighter.

If we look at the odds of the major bookmakers, we can see that they all believe that Josh Taylor is the favourite. I think Jose Ramirez has all the chances to win. If I am not mistaken both boxers have not suffered a single defeat in their professional careers. I expect this fight to be very hot.

Although it looks like Taylor is a Southpaw which is a counter to Orthodox, I think that Ramirez has the experience card in here because he has more fights under his belt but it seems that everyone is favoring Taylor in this bout but I have to go with my gut that Ramirez's experience is going to  make a difference in this fight.
It's obvious that Ramirez will have more experience because he turn pro early.

But you have to look at the quality of opponents Taylor has face, specially in the WBSS, he won those belts from those 2 champions in that tournament. And that is the main reason why he is the favorite, good and quality opponents, but he had the intangibles, like mental toughness. Both as others have said has a solid chin so that it will negate this advantages. Overall, Taylor is the complete and overall fighter.

If people only knew how hard/tough that Ramirez’s chin is. I guess people would consider this one as an iron chin.
Like seriously? Even when his opponent directly hits his chin, he can still survive as nothing happened. However, Josh Taylor actually has the same strength. It’s like a battle between two tanks.

But I would say that Josh Taylor chin is more tested here, against Regis Prograis and Ivan Baranchyk and he survived those two hard hitting boxers.

I would say, this one will I guess be a very long type of match. I'm not expecting a know down here, but I am expecting a very exhausting match in history.

Yeah, and I'm sure they will throw a lot of punch here, maybe we can see a record for most punch in this weight division because these two likes to brawl.

I just watched the highlights of Josh Taylor here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BDNvn5h8Sk

Doesn't have that one punch knock out, but damn, he is a hard and grind boxer. That body shot to the liver is wicked, and he win most of his fight by doing that + in can really took a lot of air to his opponents. Jose Ramirez is a good body puncher too, but I think Taylor is the more complete fighter between the two. A lot of stakes in this fight as this is a reunification, best of the best.

Yeah, I agree with this.

His boxing record is 17 wins, 13 out of 17 are all win by knocked out, which is really scary and he has no losses yet. I've watched also a couple video of his fights and I think his punch is much deadlier than Ramirez, but we still don't know what might happen. One lucky punch can change everything in boxing like what happened to Manny Pacquiao vs Eric Morales, that I didn't expect Pacquiao would lose.

^ If in case that 12 rounds have been done on this match, Josh Taylor might also be done. Ramirez is too strong and has very good stamina. Meaning to say that, his chin is too much for Josh Taylor, Ramirez could get better scores as well compared to Josh Taylor. This match will be in favor of Ramirez’s side. Good luck with the other side then. Experience and being wise, Ramirez also has the best experience. Being held by Rick Miridian? That’s a no-no for Josh Taylor. Nevertheless, any of you have been to which bookies are good to gamble.

Probably, the best fight this month and also will be the most watch since both are strong and undefeated. What an exciting fight to watch and it's getting closer now. It's rare to see a fight such as this where they meet in the unification bout after not losing a single fight and finally with this fight, someone needs to lose and the only one will announce as the new champion of the world on their weight class. This kind of fight will not reach 12 rounds, I'm sure about that and it won't finish early either. Maybe the fight will conclude on 6-8 rounds.

Maybe not because we have the Canelo vs Saunders this weekend  Smiley.

TBH, i don't follow these boxers but it's good that we have the chance to talk about them and their future in this sport.

Base on the tale of the tapes, they almost have the same height and the only difference is the number of fights and i wonder why Jose Ramirez is the slight underdog when in fact he is the more experienced fighter.

Nevertheless, it's worth the watch as the betting odds is not so one-sided.

Not just because of the Canelo vs Saunders fight though.

This division lacks a champion that has the charisma to attract boxing fans. And then 5 pounds south, we have the most talked about divisions with Lopez, Garcia, Davis and Haney at 135 lbs.

The current favourite Josh Taylor is non American, another reason that I think of why this division is quiet. So they are grooming Jose Ramirez to be at least the next big thing for the 140 lbs division. And i guess that's what this fight is exciting, it will happen in Vegas, Josh Taylor needs a knock out, doesn't want this to go to the scorecard.

Here are the professional boxing records for these two boxers. Another exciting fight, both got no losses, both undefeated.
Jose Carlos Ramirez really got the advantage here, even the odds. But the real thing here, Josh Taylor and also undefeated the same with Jose Carlos Ramirez.
In height/reach, they are almost the same. The experience only is the advantage of Jose Carlos Ramirez.

Volume puncher usually won fights and for sure boxing bettors knows that Josh will have it to take the win here that's why the starting odds is in his favour.

We have to take notice that one Teofimo Lopez is done with the 135 lbs division, he will surely go up in weight class and will fight anyone of these two in the future. Not much noise though in this 140 lbs, but looking at the records and what is in line in this fight, this surely has the making of war and could be a candidate for the fight of the year.

And Josh also has this uncanny ability to slip down when someone is throwing left hook on him and then he deliver a counter right hook. Ramirez though I would say has a good chin, so he will be chin tested by Josh. And it's going to be a battle of body shots, but I will give the edge to Josh, his liver shot might not be the best, but still very effect if it hits you right on the spot, you will go down and it is going to hurt.
Yeah, I have checked some tapes of his highlights and I cement my faith that Josh is going to be the one that will cause the first loss of Ramirez.

I watch a couple of fights and even i think Josh Taylor has the advantage coming into this fight and he will be a decent favorite in this match up in the eyes of the bookies as well. In one of the fights i have seen Jose Ramirez getting out boxed by his opponent and looking at the fighting style of Josh Taylor he could do that but he needs to gauge his range rather than brawling and it all depends upon how he approaches the fight.
I have seen the stats and I gotta agree with you, Josh is a Southpaw compared to Ramirez who is an Orthodox which is problematic for Ramirez since Josh can deliver right hooks faster than Ramirez although they are both equal in terms of height, I think the style will decide who wins.

Before we forgot, there is a 140 lbs reunification fight between Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez on May 22. Both are undefeated boxer so this is a very good fight.

Josh Taylor has the IBF and WBA belts, while Jose Ramirez has the WBC and WBO title. The last boxer who held this belt in this division is Terrence Crawford.
