Locking this thread for good, thanks again to those comments.

And as what others wanted next, hopefully our very own Gaballo will have a first crack as newly champion Emmanuel Rodriguez. No offense to Lopez, but this might be competitive fight compare to this fight for the belt.

They might have overlook Gaballo here and put Lopez who become a 6:1 underdog and judges scores a wide decision win for Rodriguez. Didn't give justice for a championship fight hehehe.

The bookers that put the odds knows that Rodriguez have good chances of winning the fight due to his experience in boxing. I wasn't surprise that he won the fight because he is the most favourite and have the capacity to win Lopez. I was happy to see him dominate the fight and also won the fight on the 12th round but I didn't expect this fight to reach that round. Maybe,I underestimated Lopez. Rodriguez is currently the IBF champion.

This is championship fight so obviously fighters will do everything to stay on the game for as long as they can and not being knockout. At least they have a fighting chance as we all know that in boxing, just a single punch will change the complexion of the fight.

However, Lopez wasn't lucky to land that punch because Rodriguez had him several times in trouble and even knock him down several times in the last round. Now Rodriguez can be call a 118 lbs champion again and there are no upset.

This is a championship fight for the belt that was vacated by Inoue. However, if Lopez were to win, it could be deemed a major upset. Bookies have labeled Rodriguez as a heavy favorite to win the fight.

Oh yes, even though the fight lasted for 12 rounds, it looks like Rodriguez really dominated the whole fight from start to finished. And I can't recall that lopsided score in the judges scorecard? 115-105? Wow that is really a huge gap in scoring.

And for sure that majority will agree that this could be the least fight or majority didn't watch this game or bet on it as compare to the other 3 bantamweight belt fights. Last one though was a upset lost by Donaire. So now the major bodies have their champion and maybe we will see unification fight underway.

Yes, there are no upsets in this fight and that is good. At least Rodriguez shows why he is the top rated boxer of IBF and so he claim back the IBF title that he once held in 2019. And with that and as what everyone is hoping, his next fight should be against the next seeded boxer in Reymart Gaballo.

They have fought before and Reymart squeaking a SD win against Rodriguez but it was for the WBC title. But if Rodriguez wanted to get his revenge against the Filipino then it's obvious that his next fight should be against Gaballo.

And as expected in this fight, Rodriguez just steam roll Lopez knock him down 3x in the canvass en route to a lopsided 115-105 scores in the judges hand. With that win, he regain the belt that he has lost to Inoue several years back in the WBSS tournament. So it's time for him to fight Gaballo next and defeat him in the rematch. If we will remember, Reymart won a controversial SD win against Rodriguez to win the interim WBC belt then he lost to then Nonito Donaire for all Filipino showdown. Let's hope a showdown with Gaballo is next for Rodriguez.

Lopez is almost 6:1 underdog is this fight.
What am I missing here? I don't know either boxer but this is strange to me since Lopez seems to be the stronger and younger fighter of the two. I mean he looks better and has the advantage if you compare their records. Is he coming from an injury or something?

Rodriguez is the only known boxer here, as he has previously fought Inoue during the bantamweight series but was knockout early. Lopez though his records is very weird, and it a sense we can call his previous opponents as taxi cab drivers. And mostly you fight those kind of boxers to pad your records and this is what happen to Lopez.

But IBF recognizes his winning streak more than former champion Reymart Gaballo that's why he was above in the rankings. And that's why he is a huge underdog here and most likely we will see Rodriguez vs Gaballo next.

And if we go with the rankings of this organization as well, I might say that IBF titles are just the last belt as far as reputation goes. I mean before the 4 belt era, we only have the WBC and the WBA belts around. And then WBO and IBF pop up if I'm not mistaken.

With that, if you look at their rank players, a few of them are relatively unknown just like Melvin Lopez is. And so I'm not surprised even if he has this sort of 8 fight winning streak against fighters that have a losing record, he is still their second best fighter.

I believe Inoue has significantly impacted the bantamweight division since becoming an undisputed champion. It's possible that some boxers have moved up in weight to avoid facing Inoue, leaving those who aren't as popular or exciting to watch. In my opinion, the current champions in this division are not even close to Inoue or Casimero in terms of skills.

I understand why some might feel frustrated that an unknown boxer has been given a chance at a championship fight.

Lopez has a 8 winning streak, but Emmanuel Rodriguez just got the win over  Gary Antonio Russell handed him his first defeat on his career.

Most likely sport bookies put Lopez as a huge underdog because he is unknown as far as 118 lbs division is. While Rodriguez has with the best in the division in Inoue but lost that fight. Yes, Lopez has a 8 fight winning streak, but if you look closely at the fighters he fought, they are also unknown and have losing records. It's crazy that he has been giving this kind of opportunity to fight for the belt.

You have explained it well. Rodriguez was a former champion in the bantamweight division, while Lopez hasn't won a championship yet. So, although Lopez is on a winning streak, when we examine the quality of his opponents, it's not as impressive as Rodriguez's opponents, who have already fought champions in the bantamweight division. Inoue is an exception; he lost to the beast. Therefore, I still believe that Rodriguez can reclaim his championship, especially now that Inoue has moved up in weight.

Additionally, there's a reason why Lopez is the heavy underdog, even though he has more wins than Rodriguez. Furthermore, Lopez is not a significant threat, with a low KO rate of only 19 out of 29 fights. This suggests that the more technical boxer will likely win here.
Yeah, and that was also the funny part of it, IBF consider him their number 3 because of his 8 fight winning straight but they didn't see who he fights and the quality of his opponents on that run. It's better if they will put Reymart Gaballo, a former champion himself and also coming from a win. And it just shows how this body is ranking their players and it's obvious there is somewhere wrong and could be that there is corruption as we have said in the major governing bodies of boxing.

Nevertheless for Gaballo to be in the mix again, he has proven himself after winning in the Philippines if I'm not mistaken. So he has the right to wait for the winning of this fight and then challenge the champion.

Also it's weird that they have no number 1 contender? I can't remember, maybe it was also Donaire who is the number previously in this division? But if there is no number 1 previously, not why relegated their #2 into #1? Doesn't make any sense.

In any case, the fight is already scheduled and we just heard it a week before the actual fight. And I also don't see any upset here. Emmanuel Rodriguez could easily take care of this fight and become a IBF bantamweight champion again.

Hopefully though, whoever wins this fight, will give a crack at Gaballo first before going in another unification fight with other champion.

Yeah I hope so and it is interesting to note that Rodriguez lost to Gaballo via split decision in the year 2020 so maybe the promoter avoid Gaballo as the latter has his numbers the last time around.

Lopez is on a winning streak so i think throwing a few dollars to back him is worthy enough because of that attractive odds.
The odds are actually attractive, but judging from Lopez's previous fights, it doesn't seem to impress me. He hasn't had many championship fights compared to Rodriguez, who has been in numerous championship bouts. Rodriguez has only suffered losses to Inoue and Gaballo, but his most recent loss was controversial.

Hopefully, we can see Gaballo winning this IBF belt very soon.

That will settle their unfinished business if Rodriguez wins, and Gaballo will go for a unification fight.

win lambo...
Rodriguez has a chance to redeem himself, as it seems he was robbed during his fight against Reymart Gaballo. Now, it's his time to make a comeback and become a champion. If he can win this fight, perhaps if Donaire does not retire, we might see another Donaire fight as the challenger. Rodriguez is a skilled boxer; unfortunately, he doesn't possess the power of a strong boxer, so that's the weakness I see in him. However, against Lopez, I think it will be an easy fight for him.

I'm only familiar with Rodriguez because Inoue totally annihilated him in their match on the WBSS, you can see his face bleeding and then that body punch that Inoue throw ended the match early.

But it seems that he has bounce back already and so with another chance to win the vacant IBF. And most likely he has the experience that's why the odds is on his favor against a relatively unknown Lopez in bantamweight.

To complete the final belt that was vacated by Inoue.

It will be Emmanuel Rodriguez- vs Melvin Lopez for the IBF belt. So they are the number 2 and number 3 contender. Unfortunately, I thought that Filipino Reymart Gaballo was in the mix as well, but he was rank number 4 in the rankings.

Hopefully though, whoever wins this fight, will give a crack at Gaballo first before going in another unification fight with other champion.

Lopez is almost 6:1 underdog is this fight.
