Ok guys thanks for those who have replied and I hope that some of you won in this match.

Yes, there are a lot of options for Tank Davis both in the 135 and 140 lbs division. So for now I'm going to lock this thread and hopefully we can see Davis fight again in the future.

Wasn't Davis almost matched up against Garcia? What happened to that that now it's a different opponent for both sides. I don't know much about Barrios but given that Davis won this bout, I am pretty sure that a Garcia vs Davis match up was the one that we should've been given too. Hopefully in the near future, we might be able to get that.

Garcia was supposed to fight another boxer, unfortunately it was cancelled because he had admitted that he has mental problems to deal with first. Yes, there was so much talk about a Garcia vs Davis, but Davis has move up to 140 lbs. But if the money is right, he could go back down again and face Garcia in the future. And we are not yet sure if he will stay at this weight, maybe he was just testing himself.

Moving up means chances to have more good and quality fight right? which means more money for him and he's money maker team.

Hopefully the chance of seeing them inside the ring is still possible,

though just like what you have said if the money is indeed decent who knows it will arranged and make things possible for both fans and gamblers.

But the problem is there's no money fight at 140 lbs, only Josh Taylor is the champion and he held all the belt. And I'm sure boxing fans are not familiar with him. So 135 lbs is a good option for Davis if he wants to look for bigger paychecks. We have Lopez, Garcia, Haney, all champions that have crafted their names in that weight class. So quality opponents and more money is in the 135 lbs right now.

Didn't know the mental health part on Garcia so that's a new thing to me. Also, I don't think that it's not money that will motivate Davis, I think he was enthusiastic when Garcia announced that after a fight that he wants to fight some fighters including Davis.

Davis   - 16 (100%)

Even the crowds in the stadium are very much into Tank, the early rounds are dominated by Barrios, he is fighting intelligently, but like what Tyson once said and quoted many times, everyone has a plan after they get hit in the face, once Davis hit Barrios he becomes defensive and that's what Davis is waiting he is a predator when the opponent has become a prey, Davis again show how great he is.

Because Davis is the most contender on this bought ..

But then like what i always stand every fight in the ring , that each boxer has their own chance of winning because we are talking about punches that can drop of their faces and body that will result them losing.

I would not get my hopes up about seeing Davis against any of the top fighters. Floyd said they are going to keep it in-house and only fight PBC fighters. It would be a huge disappointment if we don't get to see Davis' full potential because his promoter's stubbornness. As exciting as it might be to watch him knock out overmatched opponents, wins against old man Gamboa and unknown Barrios do nothing to enhance his legacy.

Round 7 was really the game changer, I have Barrios up by round 6, as you have said he dominated the early rounds because of his height and reach advantage. However, when he was hit and not once but twice in the canvass, it was a 10-7 swing in favour of Davis. And then Tank smells his prey, putting combinations in the latter round. Barrios is a tough mofo, but Davis has the power in both hands. Interesting that Barrios got 0 votes, Lol, no one see an upset.

Davis has established himself as a powerful puncher in the superlightweight division he has the speed and power and he can wipe out all opposition on both lightweight and superlightweight division, not even Ryan Garcia and Haney can keep up with his power and speed, let us see now what's coming next for Davis, he is one the most exciting boxer to watch out now.

Whoever his next opponent will be, needs some great plan to counter both his speed and power punches. Strategy always wins if it is taken seriously but most of the time the surprise of how powerful your opponent will lose your focus and months of practice like what happened to Brandon Rios when he fought Manny Pacquiao, he cried and admit that they failed to execute their strategy when he caught with how the actual Manny Pacquiao inside the ring. that might probably happen on whoever will face Davis in his next fight.

Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez if he decided to move up to 140 lbs would be a difficult match up for him.

Barrios is winning the first couple of rounds and maybe Tank Davis is trying to figure him out. Round 7 was critical because it was a 7-10 rounds that closes the gap for Davis. Barrios remain in composure even after that knock down. But one advantage of Davis is that he has a solid chin. And it round 11, the referee has seen enough. That body shot is perfect.

Very competitive fight. Tank had a lot of problems with Barrios height and it took a while before he was able to get going. Barrios had some good rounds but he is clearly not on the same level. I really can't see Davis beating Josh Taylor and he would struggle against the top lightweights. He will continue to be matched carefully but he should at least fight Ryan Garcia. I think that is the most winnable fight for him amongst all of the big names he could potentially face next.

Josh Taylor will be the competition in this division he is the undisputed champion so all roads lead to him. We will have to wait and see if Davis is going to target Taylor next. I'm also thinking that Davis might to back to 135 lbs and chase Garcia or even Haney (both winnable) and loads of money in the table

Anyone bet on this match though?

I thought Davis will not show up Mayweather told him that in an unofficial scorecard he is losing and that's a wake-up call for Davis, Barrios put up a good resistance but Davis has explosive punch on both hands, I admire Barrios for putting a Galant resistance now it's time to take on Josh Taylor or go back fight Garcia or Haney, all of the three Davis can beat.

betting $5 for Mario Barrios. it's the only left to my account actually. whichever fighter you bet it's risky anyway but it's worth the money to root for Barrios. the od is 4.50 on betja.com but i think it's bigger on other platforms. i'd go for davis if i bet more than $100. if it's an upset fight, it be fun to bet all in again to another fight.
Why not? It's a win-win situation for your, for just a small amount and the last money you got, it can give you x4 or more.

I put a bet on Davis to win a knockout, not a big amount, just money that I can afford to lose. It's a round range so it's a good odds as well. And for sure, those big gamblers might pour their money on the favorite here, since  Tank Davis has the tools to do it against a worthy champion in Barrios.

Based on the voting here and I guess the majority of the boxing community are in favor of Davis, we cannot blame them, the Sta Cruz is one of the fights that proves how strong Davis is and it could happen here, again if one of Davis uppercut gets in, Barrios should watch out for that uppercut and he should take his height advantage to the fullest so he can connect his power punches.

Yes, based on the voting and the odds, boxing community thinks that Davis has the upper hand in this match because of his power and boxing IQ. The Sta Cruz fight was good in paper, we thought that it is going to be close because of Leo's volume punching, but it was even that, Davis blasted him with a perfect uppercut that knock out Sta Cruz for the first time in his career. So the power is scary and if landed flushed on a tall guy like Barrios, it could destroy Barrios for good in this fight.

The decision  and draw looks very attractive.

But I don't see it happening, with Tank Davis, we all know that he can bring his power to this weight class so most likely we will have a knock out here.
Yeah, but Barrios will be aware of that. That's why I actually think it'll be a cagey affair with Barrios trying to neutralize the knockout power of Tank Davis. I think he's good enough to prevent getting into too much trouble, and I think the decision is a very lucrative bet to make considering a lot of people will likely be wanting, and predicting Davis to get the finish.

If I were to bet today, I'd probably swing more to a Davis decision though.
I am part of those people wanting Davis Tank to win the fight by KO because I followed almost all his training video and whenever he's training his fist Barrios image was place in the pounching bag to increase his thirst for winning the fight so I beleive Davis he's fully prepared for this fight.
That's a cool video if available can you share it here mate?

I'm also rooting for Him to win over Barrios and with all Advantage Davis will be the winner by Knock Out on this one.

have you placed your bet already ? because the fight will be happening hours from now

Never seen that video mate, however, I believed that a knock out is coming because I'm seeing that this is a perfect fight for Davis. Yes, Barrios is tall and has the reach advantage, but if he don't know how to utilised it and rather fight Tanks fight, a knockout could be open and for sure Davis will go for it. Upper cut or left hook could be the punch that will end the night for Barrios.

For those who love to read body languages.

Both look superb, as I have said, no more weight drain for Davis, so we can see that he looks healthy, heck he can even go as high as 147 lbs.

Barrios look drain though, obviously he is the taller. But he can rehydrate and we will see how much weight he can put in this fight.

Barrios has no problem Tank touching his belt, hehehe. I'm sure this is going to be a war, but won't last the distance.

I like Davis chances here because he has a good ring generalship not to mention the knock out the power we have seen him knocking out his opponent with one punch Davis will bring the fight to Barrios because he is the smaller one and will go to the body, I'm not ruling out the possibility of an upset here, because Barrios also has powers in his hands.

The edge of having that height, if Davis managed to protect his body and counter all the possible combo of Barrios he  have that high chance to win this fight, though like what everybody's saying this fight is not as easy as it is, both fighters are hungry to win over another, both camps have the preparations that dedicates to their opponents.

It's all on the fighter sides if how they'll bring the right combination to win, Davis killer KO punch might be seen again here, I'm also eyeing for him to win.

Tank looks really small in this division. Against a real champion like Josh Taylor I think he would lose. We will see if he carried his knockout power in this weight class. I don't think Barrios can win but if Tank fights aggressive and isn't able to hurt him then Barrios will have an opportunity to land some clean shots. I just hope it isn't a one sided 12 round beatdown where Barrios only tries to survive.

It's actually one of the most awaited fights. I believe that it be a good match for Davis and Barrios. However, I could see that Davis has an advantage here because I could see his perseverance in his training video clips. It will be a tough fight but I'm sure that Barrios would still grab this chance to showcase everything on the ring.
Trainings are different if you are already on the Ring and we know Barrios is not an easy opponent. Tomorrow is the big day for them and I have to agree that this is one of the anticipated match, we are going to witness great boxing again. On this one, I’m looking forward for Davis to win after making a few analysis on their previous matches, but this is not an easy one.

this is much much better fight to watch out for as compared to these exhibition fights. Davis is clearly the favourite here, even by bookies. but upset is always welcome to make the event more interesting. they may have both good training and prep, but once inside the ring, it is how they strategise to take advantage of their plans and end the match as early as they can.

The body languages speaks at all, but this should not be the basis since Barrios is also a great fighter it's just that Davis is too much for him so I'm also confident that Davis will rule this match. This is gonna be a good fight this weekend, and I'm pretty sure many bettors already place their bet, let's all enjoy the fight cheering for our bet at home.

It will be another big fight for Davis, but I think he can win against Barrios via knockout as I believed that he can carry his power and he will be comfortable as there's not much of a weight drain to meet the weight.
I am also expecting a win by Tank Davis and he is the heavy favorite and everyone thinks that Tank Davis can bring his knockout power to a higher weight division but the only issue i see is the massive height difference of 13 cm between Mario Barrios and Tank Davis and if Mario Barrios can fight smartly taking full advantage of his height and reach advantage we might see an upset.

It is very difficult to predict the outcome of this fight. Incredibly similar conditions and almost the same records. I won't be putting my money on anyone, but if I had to, I'd be betting on Davis. I think he can shoot Barrios with one hard blow. So I am voting for Davis as well.

I also voted for Davis, Barrios is also a knock out artist and he also has a good knock out percentage and undefeated, it's not going to be an easy fight, for Davis but he will eventually win because of his power and ring generalship, he has fought a lot of good fighters in the past, but we should not rule out an upset as Barrios is very much capable of knocking out even a strong fighter.

Tank Davis is so good that nobody voted here for Barrios, even though Barrios also had a good record with a good knock out percentage,
I can speculate that boxing fans are not familiar with Barrios, or to be fair, 140 lbs is not the creme of boxing. It's the welterweight and then the heavyweight division. But yes, Barrios is a good champion at this weight classes and a live dog.

but we know Tank's power he can end a fight with one punch, it's good that he move up, there's lack on competition on his division because some of the fights that he wants are not pushing through, I expect Davis to win here in a very sensational way because Barrios is a fighter who is not hesitant to engage.
That's what is scary about Tank. He really know how to throw that power punch with authority. He uses how his body is built, that's why he carry so much power even if he moves up from 135 lbs to 140 lbs and the challenging one of the biggest champion.

Yeah, and since is a step up for Tank Davis, I also expect him to win by another perfect left hook on Barrios, just like what he did on the Leo Sta Cruz fight. Not much of a trash talk between the two though, but we all know that Tank doesn't back down on any one, including when Ryan Garcia was going to the public and calling him names etc. So Davis by a sensational knock out.

The decision  and draw looks very attractive.

But I don't see it happening, with Tank Davis, we all know that he can bring his power to this weight class so most likely we will have a knock out here.

Davis by KO is 1.62
Barrios by KO is 7.20

They really underestimate Barrios with such odd, this isn't on stake nor on sportsbet because I just checked them. But this is just merely because Davis is popular. So much risk when you think about both to be good fighters with all their knockout rates.

If they really will stand their ground to give it all, the fight could end in one round given how much power they could put in one punch. Davis got all his opponents in TKO except 1 which all in all 24 fights.

I think this is on sportsbet.io mate,

Perhaps it was due to Davis record of knocking out his opponents early and not going into distance. No disrespect to Barrios, but once he taste some of the power of Davis, he might switch to being a boxer and not go toe to toe. But I'm not sure if he can knock out Barrios in one round. Probably mid to late rounds could be a good prediction here.

ODDS update on sportsbet.io.
The odds is not quite good now, even the event is fast approaching, within few days, the odds still is very far.
I am curious why the odds is favour Davis even he got fewer wins, weight and height.

Well, this is another exciting fight because both boxers are undefeated, it's either a loss or draw for one of them on June 27th, 2021.

The decision  and draw looks very attractive.

But I don't see it happening, with Tank Davis, we all know that he can bring his power to this weight class so most likely we will have a knock out here.

Davis by KO is 1.62
Barrios by KO is 7.20

Both looks very cool at the press conference, but Davis is very confident. And he says he loves to fight taller guys because they think that he is small and can take him out easily. Both though are soft spoken, which makes this fight very intriguing. As we all know, fighters who talks less uses their hands more in the ring. So let's see, Tank Davis still @1.18 favourite to win here.

Odds are favoring on Davis even though he is the underdog of this fight.
Moving in one Division into a higher Division seems very hard but there are some boxers though who can manage to get a win.

With this match-up, I know that Davis has this tremendous strength but Barrios has the reach advantage of 10 cm which is kinda huge already and he has this height advantage. I might go with Davis thru Knock Out with this. We've seen some fights already where the smaller fighter won against a taller fighter like Pacquiao against Dela Hoya, Margarito and others and it might happen in this too. It will be a shame for Davis if he will not win in this fight. I will wait whose record will have a 1 after their wins after this fight Cheesy.

^^ As expected, Tank Davis is the favourite going on in this fight.

As you have said, he might carry his power in this division, but Barrios is long and tall and that will be one advantage of his. Also had power as well, so it will be a good chin test for Davis if he can hold against a legitimate 140 lbs now. I'm predicting a close fight and this could go on the judges decision. Let see if Tank Davis can go full 12 rounds as his fight usually doesn't last that long and getting his opponents knock out early.

Gervonta will surely win if he set himself up for incoming fight with Barrios and use his striking footwork to avoid the long-range punches of his opponent. Regarding judges, I'm keeping hope no one of them will be biased to any boxer; then Devis will demonstrate his  proficiency at a close fight. I would bet on Tank Davis.
I wouldn't say that Gervonta will "surely" win, although speaking of the odds, he is the favorite.

And sport bookies are favoring him because of this strength and power in both hands. Barrios is a champion too but he is relatively week as compare to our champion in this division. And if Davis is really that good, then it might not extend to the judges, he can knockout Barrios and be the champion.

This fight between two young American boxers is quite interesting and proves their future and I can't wait to watch it, and it looks like this fight will be quite hot and tight because both will wait for the right moment to bombard it.
and mentally and weighty Davis is still above Barrios, and both have clean records that are both unbeaten.
and it looks like the battle will heat up in the middle of the round that will prove who is the best and strongest.

Definitely an interesting matchup, someones winning streak will get broken, but I am hard-pressed to think that Gervonta will be on the losing side. Even tho he is moving up to light welter. If he would just pull the brakes on his arrest record, then I think we would see some greatness, even more than now.

It looks like Tank will be the underdog in this contest, he's a great fighter but is going to be moving into fresh ground within a higher weight division. Mario will be used to fighting heavier hitters and has a 2 fight win streak lead over, however narrow that might be in reality. It is definitely going to be a major let down for one of them as I highly doubt it'll go to a draw scenario. That is one killer record of 95%+ knockouts from Davis, Barrios should take it if he can block the blows properly.

I don't think it will be a problem for Davis so many guys have done this and still doing this, Manny Pacquiao comes from flyweight up to superwelterweight and he still carries those big punch, Barrios doesn't have a perfect defense, and Gervonta's two hands are power pack, we have seen how powerful it is in the Sta Cruz fight, a big puncher and talented like Davis cannot be underestimated, Barrios had a hard time and got hurt when he fought Akhmedox he was exposed here.

Yes, he barely won that fight against Akhmedov, just imagine if he fought other champions in the 140 lbs, the recent unified champion, Josh Taylor or even Ramirez, I'm sure he will be knockout by those two or at least lost in a decision.

And I think the height doesn't concern Davis, based on his response to interview. Elite fighters like Davis should overcome this kind of adversities.

So it will be a chess match and he who makes the first mistake will loss this fight.
I'm not sure. I don't personally think anyone is getting knocked out, so whoever makes the first mistake needs to adjust. I do agree that I believe this fight will be won on who can neutralize the others persons attack. Tank has to neutralize the height of Barrios, and therefore close the distance, and Barrios has to neutralize those power shots that Tank is capable of.

I'm banking on Davis ability to bring his power to 140 lbs, that's why I say that a knockout would happen in this fight. And it will be his left hook or upper cut.

This is why I think it'll go to a points decision. I predict a cagey affair, both being a little gun shy in the earlier rounds.

Yes, its going to be a cagey affair, it could be a feel out round, Davis trying to see on how he can out manuevered that long reach and then Barrios, trying to avoid Davis power punches.

Gervonta "Tank" Davis decided to go and move to 140 lbs division and is going to challenge undefeated WBA regular champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios.

We all know that Davis is one of the 4 kings of the 135 lbs but it seems that he will leave that division and try to get his hands for a third belt in 140 lbs.

The big question is if he can bring his power in this weight classes and it will be interesting that we have Taylor and Ramirez fighting for unification this weekend. Josh Taylor is the WBA 140 lbs super champion.

So we might see the winner of Taylor vs Ramirez fighting Davis too in the future.

It will be another big fight for Davis, but I think he can win against Barrios via knockout as I believed that he can carry his power and he will be comfortable as there's not much of a weight drain to meet the weight.

I think Barrios is better than tank davis in boxing has the ability to overcome every weakness and win every match. Barris has won a lot davis on the other hand was awakening his refereeing responsibilities with a competitive career wrestling under a mask as a master davis was a rare hill referee and showed vague bias towards certain wrestlers.

What the hell are you talking about? Tank Davis wasn't a wrestler. It looks to me like you are just using a text spinner to write your posts so that you can inflate your post count for your signature campaign. As a Sr. Member you should know better than this.

Barrios looks like he has the beefy side and he has a better reach than Davis but I am considering the fact that Davis is a Southpaw and that is the weakness of a lot of Orthodox fighters so I would say that this match is on a 55/45 match up in favor of Barrios.

Barrios to win via decision. He's got a tremendous height advantage, and also has the reach advantage by quite a significant margin. So, Davis is known for his knockout power, but Barrios has such the height advantage he should find it easier to keep the distance, and away from the power shots. I can see Davis having some success with uppercuts if he were to close the distance, but my gut is telling me Barrios will fight a smart fight, keep the distance, and utilize that jab of his.

It possible, but I think Davis will adjust as the fight progresses. Barrios might be successful in the first couple of rounds and once Davis reads want Barrios is doing, he might switch strategies and keep the fight close and then look for his upper cut or left hook. Barrios can't jab whole 12 rounds, at some point he needs to be aggressive and score some points in the judges scorecard. So it will be a chess match and he who makes the first mistake will loss this fight.

Gervonta Davis seemed to be comfortable and really feeling it on his last bout against Santa Cruz. It will be a shame if he will not be able to carry over his speed and energy on that last fight which proved that he's an undisputed fighter of the 135lb division. Barrios is a hard hitter, too, though it's not all about hitting when it comes to Davis—he's not called "Tank" without a reason. While I do believe that Barrios can carry himself pretty well against the contender, those left hooks would be a big problem if left unchecked.

He can bring his power but Barrios is also a very powerful puncher, this has the making a of a fight of the year, and I don't expect this fight to end in a decision, they both have the instinct to knock out their opponents, they'll definitely go for a knockout, I favor Tank to win this match, but not ruling out that Barrios can deliver a knock out performance against Tank.

(more image here)

@FinneysTrueVision - True, Davis has a lot of options in 135 lbs, but everyone is busy fighting other fighters. Perhaps his team wanted him to stay busy this year and doesn't want to wait. Davis has a history of not making weight, so now at 140 lbs, he will be comfortable or at least doesn't have to cut weight.

This is a match to watch almost an even match, I expect a knockout here and it could go either way, Barrios has a height and reach advantage both of them can knock their opponent with one punch I have seen both fighters in their highlights and both Davis and Barrios have a good resume this will be Davis biggest challenge so far and so is for Davis, whoever wins here could treat this as a legacy win and will be lining up for bigger paychecks in their next fights.

I've watched Barrios highlights and it seems that he has the ability to throw a right hook + overhand right, it's in between and this is his power punch. And then he also has this body shot that put his opponents down grimacing in pain.

But he doesn't have a good defense except moving his head left and right and Davis might exploit this loophole. So credit to Tank Davis for stepping to 140 lbs and fighting one of the best.

I'm not too excited about this fight. Tank has some great options at 135 but he continues to avoid those fighters. He is only fighting secondary champions to polish his resume but we know the WBA just hands out titles like it's nothing, they have 3 champions per weight class. It really does not mean anything that he is a "world" champion in 4 weight classes. If they want to make him a pay-per-view star and selling out stadiums then he should be fighting against legitimate champions.

He can't avoid those 135 lbs, sooner or later those are going to move up as well. Teofimo Lopez for one has shows intentions to go to 140 after the Kambosos fight, so we will see. But I agree that this is a cherry pick fight for Davis. The solid WBA champion is Josh Taylor, they just have to give up another so called belt and now Davis has the chance to annex that and call himself a three division champion. And I want to see if he can take a punch as well coming from a legit 140 pounder, which might re-hydrate to 150 lbs fight night.

that might just what Davis thinks but barrios isn't easy. barrios is a very careful fighter and will just wait to counter. he could be thinking that way because barrios aren't as famous as him. wanna see Floyd's face when Davis lay flat on the floor.

it's not easy to come out of the comfort zone like moving up a weight class. some boxers can't adapt quickly and resulted in a loss.

I agree, this is no push-over fight, Barrios will still pose a threat to Davis. This is his first time to move in weight so he has the disadvantage here. Barrios will use his reach advantage for this fight for sure and will not engage Davis in close fight because he knows the power.

Davis could be the clear favourite when betting odds are available, but I would say that Barrios is a live dog here and Tank shouldn't underestimate him. This is Barrios division, so for me this is just as exciting as Taylor vs Ramirez fight in this weight class.

One thing that caught my attention is that Barrios is tall, at 5'10'' in height so obviously, he has the reach and height advantage against Davis. No doubt that Davis can carry over his power in this division, as his monicker, Tank, his body is so compressed that's why he got his power. Plus he has the speed as well.

This will be a tough call, but I think Davis will pressure Barrios here, just like what he did against Leo Sta Cruz. So this will be an action pack fight, and I will go with Davis as well to win by another upper cut knock out punch.

The Tank is in favor of this match in my opinion. He already has his advantage coming from the lightweight division against Mario. But we all know that they both have given great performances in their previous fights. Both of them are undefeated and this is where a record will surely be ruined (unless they will have a draw and I don’t think that is possible).

Well, I am waiting for the time where the winner will be announced and will fight against Mikey Garcia.
Mikey Garcia dreams of not just fighting against Manny Pacquaio but also with the winner of this match. That is why I am eye-in on this match very much as it would be connected to great times in boxing. Going back, people say that what Tank is doing is almost the same as Manny Pacquiao’s past moves. Fighting title holders on a different division might be cool!

Hmm, it's a match to look forward to, if I have to bet, I believe Barrios will have a win here, Barrios has a slight advantage over Davis as you would say, but I think it will be a real match difficulty. As we all know, Davis really has the talent and the nerve to win if Barrios is careless. Davis was also really reckless when he decided to change his weight class. Although he won the old weight class, this move can really create a turning point for both of them.
