So, it seems the reported injury might just be a convenient excuse because he doesn't find the fight appealing or has had a change of heart. What's going on with him, asking for a championship fight when he's at the bottom of the standings? It's like he's lost touch with reality or forgotten his current rank.

I get that he's into big fights, but he doesn't get to dictate how matchups are created. If he can't adhere to the rules of professional boxing regarding fights, maybe he should consider retiring and going for exhibition fights. With his skills in trashatalking, he's sure to draw a massive audience, and it could be a way to stay in the limelight even not in the professional sports of boxing.

Broner thinks that he can just demand a title shot at this point of his career, he has fought nobody after he lost to Manny Pacquiao, his career is clearly sliding and he is cherry-picking fights because he knows he cannot keep up with the top boxers in this generation, the trust is he is asking for the title because he just wants to make money before he exits in boxing and of course unless he did not get knock out he will still insist that he won the fight.
This is the kind of boxer who stays too long in boxing and cannot admit that his glory days are over, and with Broner's lifestyle he just wants more money, he is like Mayweather, a big spender who wants to flaunt his money.

Yeah, but unfortunately he doesn't have the skills and talent of Mayweather, so he would likely end up bankrupt because he wasn't able to manage his finances effectively. And I believe he had some lawsuits that probably requires more money for him to stay free for now. So we can see how desperate he is to have a big fight for a bigger payday.

I think it's better for this thread to be locked because the fight will not happen.

With the latest development, I think it's the right thing to do.

Thank you everyone for participating in the discussion. Thread is closed now.

It seems like this fight might not happen due to excuses from Broner's side. His statement appears somewhat unreliable since his camp reported an injury, but he was also talking about making a comeback with a championship fight. This has definitely left fans who were eagerly anticipating the fight confused.

It's the second announcement about the postponement of the fight, considering that the original fight date was supposed to be on November 4, as mentioned in the thread.

Pacman really did big damage to his career but I think the real struggle does not start on that particular fight, it started when he got too cocky against Maidana and the latter schooled him. He was even lucky to fight Pacman, but his performance does replicate the way he talk as he thought he had won the game when he was only throwing few punches and not hiiting clean shots on Pacman.

Adrien Broner withdraws from December 2nd return with hand injury

The funny thing is Broner wants to come back in February with a title shot when he only fought twice in five years

Quote
“The hell with tune-up fights,” said Broner. I’m ready to take on any of the champions in the 140- and 147-pound division. I’m ready to fight the big guys. Everything they think I don’t have, I still got. I’m ready to fight Ryan Garcia or, Rolando Romero or the winner of the Regis Prograis—Devin Haney fight.”

Broner is insane to think that he deserves to have a title shot, promoters want fighters who can attract PPV and gate sales and Broner unfortunately does not have it anymore unless he beats top names in the division then people will take him seriously.

I do agree, no top boxers or at least the regular champion will give him a chance to fight for their belt. He is low risk low reward right now. We have Haney, Lopez, Prograis, Ryan Garcia and others that are in the top of their game.

He might do good against Rolly Romero, two loud mouth boxers, but the same though, even if Romero wins, he will be criticized for fighting a wash up boxer.

Maybe what Broner can do is just fight any fighters not name those mentioned above, not for the belt but just for the paycheck as we all know that he is already in the sunset of his career and just be fighting to make as much money as he can before he can retire.

I was confused as well because I hadn't seen any updates in social media regarding this fight and I want to see Broner fight again because he was an entertainer and an arrogant boxer I really like to see him lose Grin Cheesy

By the way, if he only not get carried away and became arrogant both inside and outside the ring, people would really want to see his comeback fight but what can we do, that's just how he is and he has more talk than punches throughout the rounds.
He always defends himself with his blind alibis whenever he loses a fight, this habit will be stopped when he gets knocked out I hope Howard knocks Browner out so he can stop his arrogant behavior, his been staying in this business for too long raking up too many losses, I don't think he has a chance to win a title the welterweight champions Ennis and Crawford are on top of their games and they they are on peak of their career it will be suicidal for Browner if he dare faced these two champions.

Yeah, and that's why many fans really hate Broner because of that persona, he try to be a Floyd Mayweather, but his big mouth backfire on him. Now he is on the twilight of his career, this could be his last chance to make some money out of boxing.

Obviously, the landscape has change already, his era has gone, some of his contemporaries have retired already, like Marcos Maidana, the first man to beat him and give him his 0. That's why it's surprises fans why he still wanting to fight and the obvious answer is that he needs money. So regardless if he wins or lose, this division is not going to adapt to him.

It sometimes pays to be one of the most hated cocky boxers of this time. With his behaviour he still can book himself to fight despite how he got crazy in the McDonald's store. Broner is already suicidal, if I remember correctly he also wanted to fight Mayweather, he called Floyd for a fight.

Floyd and Adrien used to be very tight though, they have been seen in the public many times together. If I'm not mistaken, Floyd take Broner under his wing, similar to how he did to Tank Davis. But I think Broner is really out of control that time, in his prime and he try to be the next Floyd Mayweather. But after that lost to Marcos Maidana everything falls apart and so he was forgotten. Although he got lucky that he got to fight Manny for a good paycheck even if he is already on his downward spiral.

The posts above say this fight was moved to Dec 2 as co main event of Ryan vs Duarte. Broner still has it, he also fought earlier this year. He is still 34 I think he still can fight at least to make money.

Yeah, he can still fight for the money. And maybe he can still be a champion, like interim belt, but at 140 lbs, it is very difficult as those from the 135 lbs are going up in this division like Ryan and they show intention to fight him next. And it could be Ryan's stepping stone and big test next.

I was curious because I thought the date hadn't changed. No wonder when I searched for the betting odds, I couldn't find any. The result was very obvious; the fight was moved a month from its original date. Thanks for the update.

To the OP, I have a suggestion. Why not change the date of the fight in your original post so that people won't get confused, like what happened to me?

Yes, that's why you gonna love him or hate this guy. In the beginning of his career though, he was really a good boxer and was close to being one of the best and the hype was there. But one he lost to Maidana, fans started to make fun of him. At least they have a good reason because that was his first defeat and the way he promoted that fight is way beyond expectations, (even saying that Maidana will learn how to speak English after he defeated him, those kind of remarks is way below the belt, in my opinion).

By the way, if he only not get carried away and became arrogant both inside and outside the ring, people would really want to see his comeback fight but what can we do, that's just how he is and he has more talk than punches throughout the rounds.

That's one thing though, now he can't back up this trash talking because he has lost already and fans find it funny and they watch the fight of Broner just to see him getting knockout and getting another L in his record.

We cannot expect Broner to change he reached fame because of his arrogance, he was and he's still and will remain arrogant its his character outside and inside the ring, love it or hate it, people love hating Broner we want him to look bad so he can be humbled but it's not going to happen, even if its obvious that he lose the fight he will still defend himself and insist that he won the fight.

One example of this was his match against Pacquiao everybody knows he lose the fight but he keeps insisting that he won the fight and he was robbed go check out that interview in this video
Broner After Fight Interview FUNNY! I BEAT HIM!

..fighters who stop fighting for a long time and then return to fight, do not know or do not want to accept retirement
Their minds won't give up until their body can't take it anymore and these are the fighters who tasted glories, fame, and money in boxing its hard for them to accept that their days are over and Broner is only a fight or two away for that and this could be one of these fights.

For the latest update on this fight, it was moved from Nov 4 to December 3 the cancellation is not big news among boxing communities because there's hardly interest in this fight, the boxing fans don't like that Broner is taking an easy route to a title shot by fighting unpopular fighters instead of title contenders, Don King is making things easy for Broner to get a title shot, if he beats Howard he could be in a title shot, but I doubt if Crawford will give him a title shot.
Broner is not relevant now in the boxing community, and if Howard upsets Broner that's the end of the line for Broner, he is overstaying in boxing when many felt that he is not the same Broner anymore.

By Dan Ambrose: Adrien Broner’s welterweight clash with Chris Howard has been moved to December 2nd at the Casino Miami Jai Alai in Miami, Florida. Given how little attention Broner’s fight with 16-year professional Howard has received, it’s a match-up that could be moved repeatedly and fans won’t take notice.

I read the article and I confess that I didn't see the article mentioning what was the reason for changing the data of this fight knowing that people don't care about this fight, changing data will only make it even worse for people to not be interested in this fight. I don't understand what the marketing guys are doing that don't see it as a fight without much interest, so it's necessary to create some event that will awaken people's interest in this fight. But what they are doing is just the opposite, they are irritating people even more so that the few people who are interested in this fight lose all interest.

With this change in date, I highly doubt that the few people who were or are interested in this fight will believe that the fight will happen on December 2nd, this is because people easily lose the ability to trust when they have little interest in the thing and things come to be postponed. and nowadays with so many good events, it is easy to discard some fights to watch other better fights. fighters who stop fighting for a long time and then return to fight, do not know or do not want to accept retirement

They are still evenly matched because Chris Howard isn't a well-known boxer, but I'm actually still interested to see if Broner has that swagger in the ring and whether he can secure a KO. If he does, I bet his name will resonate with the fans.

sounds like his team is building him up again. he might win the fight, he is still young and capable of boxing as he used to be an unbeatable champion.
if he becomes cocky again like he did in the past he will lose against an unknown boxer. what a shameful loss given that he was showboating crazy like he is a big shot and then lost against someone he bullied Marcos Maidana. Chris having 18 wins with 8 KOs and 2L, i think is still a threat to Broner.  that is still a remarkable record for an unknown boxer.

I don't think that he can bring back his old glory though, as we have said, he could be well out of his career and just trying to get as much money as he can. Of course he can still fight if that's what he thinks and win against a fighter that is also inactive. But even if he wins here, he will not be given a chance and maybe prime fighters could destroy him for good. He will still be cocky no matter what, that's how his personality his and most likely that's why he hate him. He is so much a trash talker that he can't back anything up just like in the Maidana fight. And after that big lost, he was never the same again. And most likely he is a good example that a boxer career can be define with that one fight as he wasn't able to recover career wise after that L from Maidana.

There’s been a change in the schedule. The fight between Adrien Broner and Chris Howard, which was originally set for November 4th, has been moved to December 2nd. This fight is scheduled for 10 rounds in the Welterweight division.

I think Broner's ranking at 15 in the Welterweight division under WBC shows that he still has potential.

Yes, most likely this is the case, as we all know that Broner doesn't have the hype anymore and obviously his opponent? We don't know him really. So it's a good move for the promoters, or maybe it will be good if this could be in some undercard, so that there will be exposure.

But in any case that the promoters are going to make this a stand alone fight, might be difficult to make money. Unless they really low ball both of this fighters to accept the fight with small money.

Everybody knows Adrien Broner! He's a former champion and even went head-to-head with Manny Pacquiao. Maybe the reason this fight isn't for a championship is that they're trying to figure out how to make it appealing to the fans and generate a ton of money.

I think everyone is more familiar of Broner losing to Marcos Maidana and becoming the internet meme for years. He is somewhat on the downside of his career when he was given that sweepstakes to have a fight with Manny and for sure he made a ton of money out of it. But he lost that fight and his comments post fight interview is one of the craziest.
Who could forget his post-fight interview? I still remember the famous words that came out of his mouth. He said, "I beat that boy," LOL! He really didn't show respect for Pacman and couldn't accept that he lost. He even claimed to have landed more clean shots on Manny, but the Compubox records show he only threw a few punches.

If they're having trouble finding the right timing, they could make this fight an undercard for a popular main event in boxing. Or, Broner might just decide to leave professional boxing and jump into the hype of exhibition matches. Who knows, maybe he'll even take on one of the Paul Brothers!

Possible, but I'm not seeing any fight next week that can fit this fight. Besides, as what we have seen, Broner is way past his prime and then facing a fighter who is also inactive for many years.

Broner is just here for the money he is just prolonging his stay he cannot beat the top fighters in the welterweight division I'd like to see him lose this fight he is just too arrogant for everybody, and will never admit that he loses a fight, the only way Broner will be humbled is if he loses by knock out, he still tough but the speed and the power is good, he is escaping knock out because he knows how to hold and to run when he is in trouble.

But once he faces a fighter like Ennis or Ortiz his career will be over because he cannot keep up with the power of these guys its better for him to just take up other jobs in boxing like boxing manager, promoter, or trainer, fighting is not for him anymore.

Possible, but I'm not seeing any fight next week that can fit this fight. Besides, as what we have seen, Broner is way past his prime and then facing a fighter who is also inactive for many years.

There’s been a change in the schedule. The fight between Adrien Broner and Chris Howard, which was originally set for November 4th, has been moved to December 2nd. This fight is scheduled for 10 rounds in the Welterweight division.

I think Broner's ranking at 15 in the Welterweight division under WBC shows that he still has potential.

https://www.boxingscene.com/adrien-broner-vs-chris-howard-pushed-back-december-2--178511

There's only one reason why this fight was moved if I may speculate. I'm sure the promoters weren't able to meet his expectations in terms of ticket sales and anything else related to the fight's revenue. This isn't a very popular fight, although I must say that Broner is quite popular, but it's not a championship fight, so it's not expected to generate a lot of money.

Regarding this kind of fight, I'm not sure if it will proceed since it has already been moved. Worse, it might even be canceled, as it hasn't gained much attention from boxing enthusiasts. This could put Broner's finances in jeopardy, especially if the rumors about him living paycheck to paycheck in boxing are true.

All I know is the top 10 in the ranking are the ones who have the potential for a title match but 11 below is not attractive anymore they are cherry-picked fighters or warm-up opponents for champions, Adrien's performance is slipping, and his last recent fights are an indication that he just here for the money and there's no steam left for him for another run for the title.

He is one or two losses away from retirement and it may not come from top Welterweight fighters, because honestly, I don't think he can beat the likes of Ennis or Spence, he is definitely out of the radar for a world title match.

Chris Howard has only fought once since 2016. Broner isn't going to challenge for a world title any time soon with those kind of opponents. The fact he's ranked in the top 15 with any sanctioning body has more to do with his name recognition than his quality as a fighter. "About Billions" is clearly desperate for money, that's why he had to resort to signing with Don King. We'll see if he actually goes through with this fight or if he ends up using the mental health issues excuse again and pulls out at the last minute.

Yes, he might really be in need of money right now, because he keeps on fighting bums and he is no longer close to that supposedly, "About Billions" persona of him. Specially when he was still very close to Floyd. I didn't know that he sign up with Don King though, but yeah in any case we all know how shady Don King is. But perhaps AB has no other options.

Maybe he is just getting chump change right now but he needs to survived and get that paycheck after paycheck. But I doubt that even if he won by a knockout or something spectacular, his name will be up for the championship belt again. He is old and way beyond his prime now.

Given his poor ranking, it would be hard for him to climb the ladder and become a mandatory challenger. I won't touch on his age, as that would be disrespectful; the fact that he is still fighting means he is still capable. However, I agree with you that age could be a factor, but, like I said, I won't judge him based on his age; I would only assess based on the outcome of the fight.

He bounced back with two wins after his defeat against Pacman, so it seems safe to assume that any mental issues he had are in the past or under control. This may not be a championship fight, but I'm sure there's still plenty of interest in watching it. Some might be tuning in just to see how Broner ends his career, hehe.

It's really hard to retire a boxer his mind tells him to continue even if the body is not responsive anymore, Broner doesn't have it anymore based on his last two fights although convincing, he's not the same Broner anymore.

He will finally realize it is time for him to hang up his gloves if one highly-rated boxer knocks him out, he will cherry-pick fighters so he can earn a reputation for fighting fighters who are in the top 10, his goal is to make more money so he can retire and he needs one big money maker to fight and unfortunately, he will get a full beating if that fight happens.

Yes, sooner or later he will have to retire from boxing. But if he keeps winning then he will have this illusion that he can continue to fight and won belt and obviously chase for more money.

But we have seen that he is no longer in his prime and just fighting low rated fighter just to stay above the division. But if he losses this one, he will be done and I doubt that any promoter will give him a chance. Unless he is willing to be the stepping stone of a upcoming fighter. Meaning he is willing to have a huge pay cut and is there to absorb and not to win. And I don't know if boxing fans are excited to see him in the ring with some unknown boxer.

I want to see how Broner promotes this fight because he is good at that especially when he talks to his opponents just to hype their upcoming fight. this would be a nice match-up for him since Howard is not as strong as his last opponents who completely beat him. He just needs to support those trash talks with some good skills and speed to not be humbled again by his opponent and not to shut down any opportunity for his comeback because it would be hard for him to do so once he loses this opportunity once again.

I don't like his antics during fight promotions but I cannot deny the fact that he is still capable. He's fighting someone his age and not some young dude who has immense potential. Probably just another handpicked match to boost up his record and maybe title run. I cannot find an open line from major crypto sportsbook yet. I'm hoping Broner is the underdog in this fight so I could bet more hehe.

Looking at Broner's record, he actually fought this year last June against Bill Hutchinson to which Broner defeated this guy by UD. Broner seems to be active after all, but just very stealthy I guess he lost his fans that's why even the media is not covering him. Arum still wants to extend Broner's career so they pick the ones that he can just crush.

Adrien's latest stunt was this https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vmAAQaG8xtY accusing McDonald's staff spitting on his food.  Grin
I read Chris Howard was his sparring partner years ago. I guess they wanna make it right this time where Chris can finally hit back and put it on record.

Adrien Broner's career and skill are going down his last two fights come from two unpopular fighters he is slow he is just a shadow of his former self when lording in the welterweight division, I don't think he can fight top-level fighters like Spence he is just here for the money, he should have retired after the Pacquaio fight I don't think he can get his old glory back it's only a matter of time before someone knocks him out to retirement and it could be Chris Howard but I doubt, Howard is another cherry-picked fight based on his record.

Looks like Adrien Broner is making a comeback! I honestly thought his career was done after that Pacman fight, but I did some digging into his boxing record, and he's got two consecutive wins via unanimous decisions against Jovanie Santiago and Bill Hutchinson. Now, it's not a championship fight, but I couldn't help myself from starting this thread. I find Adrien Broner to be a really interesting boxer, and the way I see it, he might just be gearing up for another shot at a championship bout in the future.

Adrien Broner's boxing career is done, at least for me. The guy lacks the discipline of a true champion, though he won against Santiago and Hutchinson but that were not an impressive wins and i would not be surprised that after this fight, he will retire hehe.

About getting a title fight in the future, that's a slim possibility as he is not a crowd drawer for now.

Pacman didn't do much damage to him but Maidana humiliate Broner more which I thought he'd actually stop fighting after that fight. Broner considerably has a good record though despite his showboating that end up badly.
But he still lost to Manny and then during post interview, he thought he won, Lol,. Pacman didn't do much damage because Broner doesn't want to fight but just survived the whole 12 rounds. Against Maidana, he was the big favorite, and I guess if you are really too arrogant sometimes karma will get the best out of you and that's what happen to him.

He is fighting an unknown boxer. I tried watching Chris on youtube he seem a slugger. A perect pair for Broner.
Most likely another tailor fight as what we say, so that his best qualities are going to be shown here. Like counter punching and his defense and Philly shell stance that all they learn from the legendary Floyd Mayweather. Perhaps this could be a 12 round decision win for Maidana but I don't think it will be enough for him to go up in the rankings and fight the champion.

Absolutely, it was a defining moment in his career when Maidana defeated him. Broner seemed overly confident as he entered the ring, underestimating Maidana, who had already given Mayweather a run for his money in their first encounter (which was a controversial fight).

As a boxing fan, no one will really forget how Maidana beat and dominated Broner back then. It was one of the worst beating for that year and Broner was never the same after that. But he is still arrogant and boastful after that and seemingly can't accept that he was defeated. And he was supposedly the next Mayweather, AB (About Billions)  Grin was his monicker. But after his defeat, his relationship with Floyd went sour and he was out from TMT (Team Money Train) of Floyd. Not only his boxing career went down, if I'm not mistaken he also has some sexual battery case and has been arrested.

His actions were quite reckless; he spent a substantial amount of money on partying, and there are even suspicions of drug use. Moreover, he's involved in a legal case that demands significant financial resources. It's possible that this is why he's continuing his career in boxing. Regarding his legal situation, since he hasn't been incarcerated yet, it's conceivable that he's had to shell out a substantial sum of money, leaving him in a precarious financial state. Quite a precarious situation indeed!

As for Broner, he's still in the fight game, but it's evident that he's approaching the twilight of his career. Nevertheless, watching him in action is always entertaining. Broner's not just a fighter; he's quite the showman, especially during face-offs. He's known for his trash talk, and that adds another layer of excitement to the whole spectacle. Let's tune in and enjoy the drama!

He is already on the twilight of his career, he is no longer in his prime although he is very lucky that he still has been given this kind of fights, specially he got a big paycheck on the Manny Pacquiao sweepstakes that time. And even if he wins here against a no name fighter, it won't resurrect his career anymore. And just like any other aging boxers, they are just fighting for the paycheck and try to squeeze as much as they can before they retire.

He definitely needs a strong promoter right now. Even without one, as long as he continues to compete, there's still a chance for him to earn some income. Let's hope he finds the support he needs in that regard.

It's not a championship fight, but it's certainly an intriguing one, mainly because many of us here would like to see Broner lose. His cocky demeanor doesn't endear him to everyone, and his style has its fair share of critics. Winning by unanimous decision in his last two fights does highlight his dominance as a boxer, and some see similarities between his style and Mayweather's. However, his loss to Pacquiao by UD did diminish his standing in comparison to Mayweather.

Being currently ranked in the top 15, he's in the bottom part of that list. It's hard to say whether a championship fight or retirement will come first for him.

Anyway, I would be interested of the betting odds in this one, would you love to share?

The guy's already 34 years old, right smack in the middle of his career, but this journey could be his last shot to see if he's still got what it takes to be a champ again.

In the Welterweight division, under WBC, he's currently ranked at 15. It's probably not going to be an easy journey for him if he wants to become the mandatory challenger but probably Crawford possibly moving up in weight by that time already, so who knows.
