Before the thread will be locked, A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO PINOY PRIDE MIKE PLANIA!

If you guys were able to read some analyst prior to the fight, the speculation/expected results are:

Greer @ 6 TKO
Greer via unanimous decision

That's how Plania was looked as an underdog against Greer. Good job for destroying those analysts.

That's a pretty odds for Plania, congratulations on your win, I was late to find out about this fight, I miss that bet, I would have taken that Plania ML.
Better luck next time for me, now I can feel that boxing is already back in business, will try to be active in betting this month if there's plenty of schedules ahead.
I agree, its a slow process but it looks like boxing is already there grinding and other sports as well. Good win for Plania, good odds and lucky for those who made the bet. If the Plania is that good then he could be the next Filipino to get the attention from this community after Duno isn't it?

That's sound nice to hear, hopefully these boxer will reach to the top of their career and will continue to maintain their endurance; despite of being halted for months without any fight. Even though the situation isn't quite easy for all sports, what's important is every protocols must be observed prior fight commences. Filipino fighters has that spirit, and I think the history will always be preserved as greatest achievements.

I really did not expect this upset and i just had this as a big parlay and i fucked up because of putting Joshua Greer Jr money line after watching his fight against Antonio Nieves and i did not expect Mike Plania to dominate and he dropped Joshua Greer multiple times throughout the fight .

@OP it was a great move to wage a bet on the underdog Mike Plania.

Anything can happen in boxing and my guts tell me that this could be an upset because Greer is fighting a Filipino fighter with a nice win-loss record. TBH, i have not seen Plania fight, it's just instinct that this kid must be good because of his record and the most important thing to note is that if a Filipino boxer would fight overseas, he would give all he got because that fight may be his last. So it's a no-brainer that i would bet with my compatriot, win or lose.

Mike Plania is not really that explosive fighter but he knows how to hurt his opponent I just notice he lacks jabs and did not take the opportunity when there is an open opportunity, he needs to train more or get a good trainer and conditioner coach to upgrade hid fighting style, but he has a good chance for a title.

The kid is raw for now and you are right he needs more fight to be compared to the likes of Manny Pacquaio but at least he is making the very first big step right on his favor.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments here, will lock this thread in a few hours.

He wont make 20+ wins if he's not good enough but of course, each boxer do have its own flaws or areas that it do needs further improvement.

but at least he do able to pull this one off even he's the underdog of this fight.

As we know on how gambling do works where upsets can happen anytime.I didnt even expect for him to dominate Greer if we do just look or basing up on appearance
but it turns out to the opposite side.

I watched the fight and glad the Filipino fighter won.  One thing I noticed is that he is much faster in throwing combination in this fight.  Seems he really worked hard on his combination speed, and read the opponent really well.  Those knock out punch really came so fast that Greer can't even defend it or his trainer saw that gap on Greer's defense and work Plania out to exploit it.

I'm watching the highlights now as I haven't seen it live too, I was so busy in this past few days and I forget the boxing had already resume.
Actually I don't know about this boxer but I know Duno, I saw some of his highlights and I think he lose in his previous fight, so with that I'd say that the excitement for him is over, it will be shift now to this guy.

I saw the fight the outcome should be unanimous decision for Plania the other judge who saw the fight even is very bias Plania prove to be to strong for Greer, that Greer is just a hype, but a really good win for Plania there will be more fights for Plania in the states because of this dominant win.

@Baofeng, what's your take on this one bro?

Too much hype around this kid to be honest, he honest show us anything yet, he is a slow starter. And it Plania will push in the early rounds (1-3) and really make Greer uncomfortable, he might caught him and change the complexion of the fight. Greer was caught with a check left hook during his last fight against Nieves, and almost go down. I'm sure Mike Plania's team have seen that video and for sure he will throw a lot of lefts in this fight. I will put a bet on Mike Plania here, good odds. I also don't like Greer's cockiness, reminds me of AB (Adrien Broner) when we was just making a name for himself.  Smiley

You are right here bro, Plania took the momentum of the fight in the first round with that wide left hook to the side of Greer's face (only video of the fight i have watched so far). Plania have a lot to improve with his raw talent and with this win, he is on the right track.

What did I told you bro? Hehehehe, spot on with this fight, and thanks for calling me out, was able to put a bet in the nick of time:  Grin

2/2 so far,  Smiley. Yes, this win open up the doors for Plania, but he still needs to improve a lot, haven't seen the fight though, but from what I read he almost gas out in the later round but the first few rounds was enough to give him a good lead, he even drop Greer 2x. This kid has a bright future, give him a couple more fights and he will sure be in the contention for the belt from 118-122 lbs. For Greer, again, hype train was put to a stop, I do hope that this loss will make learn that you don't need to bring cockiness if you can't back it up, if can go as far but when you face a boxer that has a big heart like Plania, he can simply be overwhelm and can't react until its too late.

Congratulations to Plania for the win I tried to search on Youtube about the fight but I only see highlights of the fight in  pictures no videos of the fight, I hope to see Plania so well know if he is ready for a much bigger fight, he has the making of a new boxing sensation in the Philippines.

Note:
Just watched the video and I'm impressed on Plania's power but not on his ring prowess he lacks the jab and always bring down his hands he can still develop as he is still young.

@bisdak40 I liked this fight and congratulations on betting on your compatriot Mike Plania. I saw that from the first round Plania showed that he was a great opponent sending Joshua to the canvas. The third round, Plania was determined to get up with victory. Finally, the fight was decided by the judges I am satisfied.

Thanks man, i like the odds for this fight considering that Plania is unknown figure from the Philippines. I'm betting on him out of instinct that Filipino fighters have a big heart and won't go down easily and that's exactly what we have seen tonight.

Greer was all hype. He became somewhat famous because of the pillow gimmick and got a big contract with Top Rank and was featured on several ESPN telecasts. Wasn't ever really able to live up to that hype though. He was exposed in his previous two fights and this time even the judges couldn't save him. The two knockdowns were too big of a hurdle to overcome.

Basing on boxing record, yes, it looks like this is a 50/50 fight, so I don't know why Plania is the underdog here. Maybe because he is unknown fighter in the US while Greer is flashy.

The Filipino odds are really attractive for boxing fans, and we all know that Filipino loves to show case their talent in the US soil to get that needed attention and doesn't like opponents who are very cocky and boastful like Greer (I say this just by watching his last fight in youtube). +1 for Plania here, he might pull a upset.

I hope he can pull one out, style makes fight Greer is an aggressor fighter and Plania is a counter puncher, Plania should knock Greer here because I can see Greer accumulating points because he is the aggressor type of fighter Plania is an unknown fighter in the Philippines if he can pull this one he will be the next popular boxer in the Philippines.

I'm not familiar with the two fighters to be honest, but I do agree that style makes fight and usually aggressive puncher will make one costly mistakes and if Plania could capitalise on it with a good solid counter like Donaire during his prime then it's good night. Maybe being an unknown fighter has a advantage, your opponent doesn't have any idea what you can bring in the table.

Not able to heard up these fighter but i get some ss about their stats;

I can say that both is a good match up if we do base up in numbers but same as yours i would bet on the underdog here.

I don't know how these fighters are but they seem to have good records with both only have 1 loss and over 20 fights, looks like a match. Greer seem to look meaner than the other. It can't be a reason to bet but would probably watch. One would have to be to a fan of any of them to be able to say which one would possibly win but if I have to bet I might go for the one who knows how to counter punch. Which?

^ It looks like Mike has a better odds here than Joshua and that truly underdog match.
I think Mike his power and vulnerability make him compelling to watch, but I don't have idea whos really gonna win this match and probably I have my positive feeling that Greer may win on this match, who knows. Nevertheless, let us see what will happen on Tuesday I sure you won't hesitate to place a bet in your favorite bookmaker.
Basing on the given image above then we can see that numbers are almost the same both have 1 loss into their entire career and both do have 50% chance of knocking out power.

So its really hard to tell on which one is worth for our bet but betting on the Filipino boxer isnt a bad idea and if we do try to look into the odds which is really very attractive.

If they are both equal in stat then this would be a fight of will power.  Grin

I'm not familiar with these two young fighters but watched some of their previous fights.

Joshua appears to be the more skillful & faster fighter of the two with decent power. Both have identical records but judging from their previous opponents, it seems Greer has the tougher competition.

Mike Plania, on the other hand, has solid power behind his punches. That's probably where his confidence is coming from every time he fights.

I feel the fight is going to end up with a KO. Let's see who gets to say "night night" after the match.

For those interested to see the weigh in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61UxlSpYS3k

I'm also not familiar on both fighters and have to check their fights on Youtube Greer seems to have the upper hand because he shows aggressiveness on all his fights, both boxers cannot be considered as power puncher,  Plania should be very careful and should level up his game or he will lose by decision here.

I think I've seen this boxer Joshua Greer in some sort of short timeframe of video. Does he the one, that's well-known bringing a pillow into the ring; a gift that for opponents that he'll put in sleep? Cheesy

Btw, great to see an upcoming live fight despite the pandemic.

It is sad to see a fighter that doesn't have the crowd with him but I believe he's with his team on that match. But the feeling is different whenever he sees the crowd cheering as he box. There's a way to support him and that's to bet for him.

They both have almost the same record.

Both has his own advantage, Plania's younger in age but with their professional record. I think both of them will show a good fight.

I watch the previous fight of the two fighters, and saw that both fighters are wide open whenever they attack and very slow to recover their guard after an attack.  Whoever notices this and take advantage of it will be the victor of this fight.

As much as I wanted Mike Plania to win, watching his previous fight, I bet he will have a hard time winning this one since I think Greer is much faster than him especially in releasing combination punches.

Just can't resist to make a thread for this fight as this is one way of supporting my compatriot in a fight where he is literally alone in Las Vegas lol. Not a big fight for most of you here but for some, this is interesting. Filipino boxers won't go down without a fight.

Greer and Plania will slug it out at 120 lbs catch weight a few hours from now.

Bookies had Greek as the favorite on this fight with an odd, Greer 1.33 Plania 3.25.

Of course i am betting on the underdog here. See below.

What are your thoughts on this guys?
