That is a good research and the world is growing faster and the blockchain technology is making it to be transparent to everyone, once again i really like the implementation of birth record in Brazil and how which other country can accept the the idea, mostly African countries.

Now it's possible for your birth to be verified by the public through technology! Brazil showcases the first blockchain technology that is used for recording the birth of children without having to use the traditional registry.
One of the things that I knew blockchain technology was going to bring is transparency to the world, and it would really be a nice idea if other countries that really wants to advance can start adopting it too, I know we have too many corrupts nations that would not want this to survive and may always kick against it, but with time, as we see so many other countries adopt it, they will start adopting it gradually also.

The technology will be very much useful in countries where they have also been having election problems like some of the part of Africa, where you could even see some of them arguing on birth certificate of the so called chosen leader, but with this technology now, they don’t need to go too far to verify the details publicly, so they really need to adopt it, but they have to be willing to do so, it is because Brazil is willing to be transparent that made them key into it.

" The registration was made through Growth Tech's Notary Ledgers platform " so I reckon they developed their own technology that use Blockchain tech to register these births. This is flawed, because it is administrated and controlled by a central organization and might not be 100% immutable.  Roll Eyes

this is why i always find these "other" use cases for the blockchain technology very odd.
there is no need to change the old way of using a simple database to register births and replace it with an inefficient method called "blockchain" just because the technology seems cool and hyped up.
not to mention that you change things that have flaws and replace them with things that are solving those flaws. there is nothing wrong with the way births are being recorded by the government right now to want to change that.

Yep it is. Though, it is still better than the traditional methods.

Registration was done in less than 5 minutes (article says that, not me!) , completely online, more transparent, reducing bureaucracy,

Here is website, if anyone is interested Wink https://growthtech.com.br/notary-ledgers/

These news needs to be widespread which will familiarize the true need and the potential of the blockchain technology. When more and more governments adopt these into their administration related data recording people will begin to explore about the good things in the technology than the bad ones.

Already there is a thinking among the common people that bitcoin and the technology to be the same. The major reason for the existence is to perform illegal activities with ease. This will slowly gets overcome and better understanding about the technology can be seen.

It's very interesting
I live in Brazil and correct me if I'm wrong, but there is some people who already did birth register some time ago and they said it was just a matter of time to this kind of "document" being registered in blockchain

This is the future coming guys

This is just one of the many important use cases of blockchain technology that will surely have an impact on the way we do things and this

is just the beginning! Soon we will see vast applications of this technology in different fields especially on Government processes relative to the

improvement of society.

I am interested on how much it would cost for someone to avail this method as compared to traditional registration method.
Definitely, should be more economical than the usual route because of less bureaucracy involved.
Indeed, blockchain technology is changing how we do things in our daily life.

I understand that such an application of blockchain technology to field of civil registry would greatly decrease required manpower and

infrastructure to process such task and the Government could save a lot of money therefore it could be ideal if they would charge it for

free to the people.

In my opinion this is technological progress in the medical field, Blockchain Technology is increasingly being applied to data management in the medical field and a new platform will eliminate the bureaucratic obstacles in the birth registration process and will be more efficient and transparent.

You should really incleade the source when you post things like this : Source - https://cointelegraph.com/news/first-blockchain-exclusive-birth-certificates-recorded-in-brazil

I am very glad to see that the Blockchain is now being used for things that can actually make a real difference and not just for something to do with financial transactions and also investment options.  Wink

You have done well not only by brining in the source of the information but also expand on what is being said. I don't understand why Op would make a news and not include the source for others to have a good understanding about what is being discussed. Its really a good achievement that needs to be appreciated and adopted by every country because it would go a long way is solving issues that goes along birth certificates considering the fact that almost all countries attach great importance to their children born within their jurisdiction. It then means all of the controversy that arises when a child has come of age and then aspiring for political position, and the issue of whether he/she is a citizen does not arise because the blockchain information will be available for everyone to see.

to be verified by the public
You should at least understand what you're reading. Nowhere it says the blockchain is public. Read again.
It would have been a worrying case if it was available to anyone. We don't need to tell the whole city that this person had a child. What they did is implementing a "permissioned blockchain", private, to make its system more efficient.

While the blockchain adoption is indeed good to hear but check your facts before you proclaim anything. India was the first country to issue blockchain based birth certificates and it has started since late 2018.

I can also provid you links of local newspapers that published the  news, if needed!

This is a pioneering sue of the blockchain with birth registry and this is quite exciting because soon this will be opening the gateway for other areas of concerns where recording is critical. I understand that the blockchain technology can be use as the foundation with anything that can involves recording of data. Congratulations to Brazil for this pioneering achievement.

Definitely this is a good start. After all we wanted to see blockchain technology takes its course and improved the lives of ordinary citizens. However, I'm under the impression that this is private ledger? No?

If it is then some entity will still have the control isn't it? It should be public so that everyone could access it anytime and that will really cut the bureaucratic as the article suggested. Here in our country to have to file and wait for days before you can get a copy of your birth certificate. So if this is going to be public then anytime you can get it specially if you need like a rush copy.

you  should at least link the source to let people read the full information and not just copy pasting one paragraph. also you can banned if you don't put the source of your news.
also there is already an Identical thread that has no link to the source: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/brazil-first-to-have-births-exclusively-recorded-by-blockchain-5181230

now about the topic: it is great to see new technology involving blockchain it just show how versatile is and the possibility of it being integrated to other technologies is limitless.

Wow wow, this is whole different level. I knew Georgia was registering land titles by using Blockchain technologies but now Brazil decided to use it for Births registry? This really means a lot, seems governments are seriously interested in integrating of blockchain technologies for storing sensitive information, why not? Especially when it adds an extra layer of protection to these information.
Well, good news, great start.
