companies and stores in Brazil had been accepting bitcoin for years already maybe its time their government take actions to also use blockchain technology i their daily lives. indeed this is a great step for them. government bodies should be using blockchain for transparency. this is good news.

Brazil is close to being run by communists now. Similar to venezuela but not completely taken over by socialism/communism like venezuela has been. I wonder what use communists might have for blockchain?
This is interesting.
The term "blockchain identity application" could imply this will be used to do away with passwords. It could invoke an alternate model of internet standardization where instead of typing in a password a person would have the government authenticate their identity on websites. This type of system was proposed in the united states previously.
There is a push for an end to anonymous bloggers. This could ultimately be an attack upon the anonymous nature of the internet.

This is a much bigger problem in developing countries than in the West. As such the West need to figure out how to dismantle and replace Credit Reporting Agencies, while the developing world has the benefit of skipping this step!

I am not surprised. The blockchain can be used for a wide variety of transactions, from smart contracts, authentications, micro-payments and so forth. There seems to be centralizing tendencies rearing their ugly heads in form of the US and Chinese governments. Here is to hoping that the Brazilians do things the right way and give the community a boost.

This is good news,but it`s kinda sad to see that countries like Brizil are more blockchain-friendly and more open for technology innovations than the European countries and USA.
There`s a lot of poverty in Brazil and millions of people don`t have computers and smartphones.
How can they benefit from such blockchain based identity verification system?

I would have wanted to read more on this if you had provided a link but hat being said, countries needs to start living with reality that the world is moving and the people especially the youths who will then hold the corridors of power in few years are moving to advance the world of freedom and with the various breakthrough especially something like this, its better they start the discussion early and plug into such movement or else they are left in the ages and Brazil is obvious taken the right step.
