A lot of UK people will think this is Bitcoin, legalised by the UK Government as it sounds the same as "Britcoin"

And the US should take action and ask all exchanges to delist everything that is labeled as USDT, USDC BUSD as misleading, isn't it?
See how this works both ways?  Grin
So, what next, Binance should sue Benin if those dares to launch a BeninCoin cause it sounds a lot like Binance Coin?

Well they want to make it look hip so they combined the two words British and coin to make the portmanteau Britcoin, I mean there is nothing wrong with that, the problem is that people don't have the necessary skills to read as simple as that.

Yeah truly sad to see the level of ignorance here, Britcoin is something normal that nobody should have a problem with it, there an island called Great Britain, there are the British Isles, there is a United Kingdom of Great Britain, with 66 million British people.
Probably a lot of those that got triggered though also it is going to be a coin with an IPO and the government is trying to pump the price with the name. Those that think so should really stay away from when this coin will be pumped on yobit, Wink

That's misleading just like the other forks of bitcoin that have been using its name to get investors.
Not forked coin, it will be CBDC. But you are right that it is misleading, it will be better to be named 'BritainCoin'.
Really a misleading name for their coin. I now understand that it's going to be a CBDC but they should've named it better than britcoin.

Britcoin lol. Well it is in UK, so I guess people would know where the Brit prefix came from.
Yeah, that's really the reason why they've named it like that.

Hope that ban doesn't take place for the real Bitcoin though.
People would think bitcoin immediately after this as part of fork of Bitcoin and hopefully it doesn't go like that.
People's misinterpretation these days I swear.

This is just speculation anyway. They are still looking into it so this might not exist for a very long time. To be honest, the sounds like one of those fake Chinese products that tries to copies something like "Adidas" and naming it "Adidang"  Grin.

Maybe we should let them try and let the performance decide that it is a scam.

It goes without saying that there are no scam projects in the current market, but some scam projects can cause a lot of damage in the market.  All of you should analyze and justify well before investing in any project.  It is always requested not to invest in scam projects.

And CMC gives this link as a reference for the project: britcoin.xyz but the site is blank... So, britcoin doesn't look like a serious project for me at all.
I think you can check the link below, I think it has been a project that has not being able to be launched since long time ago. And yet according to the news posted by very_452001 in the OP board, likely nothing yet promising about the coin for now.

A lot of UK people will think this is Bitcoin, legalised by the UK Government as it sounds the same as "Britcoin"

Central Banks are simply just taking the p*** with Bitcoin now by copying its name and people will fall for it.

This new Britcoin Central Bank Digital Currency will try and steal the true bitcoin credibility, repackage it as Britcoin and sell it to the people of UK  Roll Eyes

Firstly, I honestly doubt it's going to exist any time within the next 10 years.  They haven't even decided for sure if they're going to make it yet.  There's nothing to "fall for" at the moment.

Secondly, if they do eventually make it, it'll just be a continuation of Pound Sterling.  I'm fairly sure it won't actually be called "Britcoin".

No need to get all agitated and excitable about it.

This is weird, when i click on the link it says 'Page error'... Looks like the article has been taken down. If we search for more information about the coin, it's in coinmarket cap, but it doesn't say much at all...

Are you sure it has been taken down? From my end, I can still view the article, check also the link posted by the OP.

Maybe the one in cmc right now is not the official britcoin. And using .xyz as domain, I don't think a government project will use such domain. It says, they are at early stage of development, so expect that they don't have details yet.

Yeah, it points out to a website that contains nothing. Likely another project that's joking around I think.
