It will work. My DFI UT P45-T3RS had only half of pins populated in 2nd full-size PCI-E slot. This means even if not broken will never make contact if card is inserted in that slot.

Found a counnector pinout, it would seem as though I could almost bypass, or ignore those last few channels?

So, I dropped my 5970, and the last few rails for the edge connector that goes into the PCI-E slot are broken off.

The last few rails aren't much more but memory channels, so I'm assuming the card would power...? I have tried google, and found a few interesting things, nothing really definitive...but is this card salvageable? Could I use a riser and solder a connection between the riser and the gold-plate that's left?
