Hey 4ner

That's basically what I've been thinking, but how does the sale on the phone or tablet get sorted with the POS?

Say dinner and wine costs $100, the point of sale computer wants $100 payment to settle that check. Taxes are levied and the numbers all go to the days sales.

The customer can pay BTC0.1 to the mobile devices wallet easy enough, but the days receipts won't balance unless the two machines are talking to each other

Plus ideally, the POS would put a price on the check in dollars and btc by taking a live exchange rate, not requiring us to enter a price into preev or however manually calculating it

R.I.P Silk Road 1.0
For in-store purchases you might want to consider the shop adopting a mobile phone that is used specifically for accepting
bitcoin payments. Transactions between people would be made via scanning of a QR-code.

Hey nithor

I totally understand this wasn't the best place, but I wanted to get the conversation started, AND get out of newbie jail..

I do RUN the place, I'm the general manager, handle most of the day to day operations, but the OWNER makes the final calls on things like this

Because of this, I'm trying to get some tips and information to present to him about how best to do this before I go ahead and post the menu and delivery zone

I want people to know we take btc, when we are ready TO TAKE btc, not have people flood us before then, and all the staff are like WTF?

I know about bitpay, but what about for physical, in restaurant purchases?

You sit, you have dinner and wine, and want to pay with BTC?

 Thanks

Hey All

My name is Jef, I'm newly registered to the forums, been following BTC for a couple years, but regrettably purchased my first couple coins in November.

I run a really cool and successful wood oven pizza place here in NYC and I've been trying to convince the owner to accept bitcoins, but I wanted some tips on point-of-sale operations. Yes, we deliver.

The easiest and mostly symbolic way would be for me to accept the BTC to my personal wallet and pay for the transaction with my own credit card, this has many pluses to me, since I am long on BTC, would collect some coins with no fees, as well get the points on my credit card, but only works when I am there. (nights off, etc)

We use a windows based POS system, and process credit cards through it directly, and I'm pretty sure they aren't working on a BTC payment solution yet.

What kind of set up are people using?

I made a wallet and if anyone wants to throw a few coins in it, that might show the boss the power of the mighty BTC

Thanks and looking forward to feedback!

Missing the point there but still.
Get out of newbie jail , offer your services in marketplace section , post the menu , area where you deliver and go for it.
Also you can use  https://bitpay.com/  for bitcoin transactions.

$Gangnam works hard, so you don't have to.
Hello and welcome to the community. Be clear that if people send you some mBTC you will surely deliver them their pizza!
