etotheipi added a twist to the SSS fragment generation to yield identical fragments every time. This deviates from the security parameters of SSS, but there is no known way to abuse it. The disclaimer about the vulnerability is to warn users that it isn't known whether the twist can lead to an exploit, and that it is recommended to cycle the fragments using the fixed code.

Long story short, you cannot crack a 3-of-5 SSS if you have 2 fragments.

Hey all, I need some help.

I have an armory paper wallet printout that I inherited in a death of family member. The problem was he was so secure that I am missing too many fragments.

Here is the info I do have.
Wallet: Fragmented backup (3 of 5 needed) unencrypted
 - I have 2 fragments
 - My guess is printed late 2013 early 2014
 - v1.35a

I know i read about the vulnerability that was in the SSS and hoping someone has the magic answer to how I can find the missing fragment to get this wallet back.

Thank you for any help!

Justin
