go check balance on your address
for BTC check https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC
for BCH check https://www.blocktrail.com/BCC (some explorers use BCH some use BCC)
then calculate whether you received the said coin at the appropriate exchange rate
BTC is about 5x more expensive than BCH, so if you buy $100 worth, it should be ~0.0075 BTC or ~0.0375 BCH

The phrase BCH (and also the phrase BCC) typically refer to "Bitcoin Cash" which trades at about 15% of the value of Bitcoin (BtC).

Check that you didn't get BTH at the value of BTC.

Then be sure not to put BTH into a BTC wallet.

Otherwise you are good.

Contact them/pop in the place you bought it and ask them. They might give you a refund.

Meanwhile, it's likely they gave you bitcoin cash. Download the wallet from electroncash.org. If you want to just convert it to bitcoin then just do so (but you'll have to pay fees). Once you import it to electroncash, you won't get your money back from the original as you have already spent some of it.
