Differences in price happen in all the exchanges although people throw a lot of shit at btc-e, im not really sure why. Personally i have never had any problems with them and the price being lower is not a problem if you are only trading in btc-e.

How much volume is there actually available at the prices which allow for the arbitrage ?

Is it enough to make it worthwile ?

It's one of the more modest major exchanges in terms of volume. The order book is showing a total of 7300 btc and $3.6 million. There's the latest buys and sells.

If its bitx.co, then i dont believe anyone goes there, the volume is nothing, compared to btc-e.
Still btc-e is one of the few bigplayers in the world of exchanges.

I like it but because of the changing relation to other exchanges.
Its good to sell there coins to dollars when its close to bitstamp,
and in case of coin-need,buy back after a few days when the coins are much cheaper at btc-e than anywhere else.
Sure you can only do that when you park funds in several exchanges.

Cheesy to this introspect of them. I am pretty sure you will get a not to nice Pm from their admin here. Undecided
Even if it's true.  Lips sealed

BTC-E has been like this for years. As mentioned above in one of the previous posts, it might have something to do with the fact that it is fairly difficult to get fiat currency into your account there. If I want to have a certain amount of fiat currency there, I just deposit BTC and sell it there to get $ in return. I have been doing this since early 2013. Best and fastest manner if you ask me.
Ah this is why it is so behind the others exchanges that were mentioned.
Always wondered why the bridge between the others were so long to this one.
Thanks for the answer to this mystery to me.  Smiley

BTC-e tends to lag behind every other exchange. It's nothing new.

It's bad that there is such a wide difference in price between exchanges. Especially when you consider that there should only be 1 global price. That's why I prefer to look at price tickers where they only display the average price of several exchanges combined. That gives you a better price indication.

I dont know the kind of fiat that you are talking about here but it is very easy to fund your account with various online currencies like perfect money

That's cool once you're up and running, but I think most people just want to fund an account from their bank or card. You have to go undergo separate verification with all these third party processors and they often have their own fees too. I think I attempted one but pure and simply couldn't be bothered to go through with it all.

Most people Roll Eyes
Do you mean bit-x, or bitx.co?

If you mean bit-x, I feel their fee for deposit / withdrawal is expensive both for fiat and btc.
So perhaps another reason if some people left btc-e and go to bitx (?)

most people are leaving btc-e for bitx.

Reason price is low.

Do you mean you can get fiat out of their exchange easily but it is difficult to send fiat to BTC-E? Wonder why.

I do not think it is strange, btc-e has already been so.

flash crashes may occur on it, but never soared

btc-e is a seriously weird place. Things happen on there that don't happen anywhere else. There've been some insane flash crashes that were confined only to there. It's a law unto itself. Not much point comparing it to anywhere else.

I mean it's not difficult, i don't know why people said that, it doesnt seem to be too expensive either and it's definitely easier than going on cryptsy and having to identify yourself with tons of documents before you can even deposit something

Its a perfect exchange for do crypto to crypto. Get fiat in and out is possible and expensive.
But it has a lot of advantages compared to other exchanges, like metatrader support....

Why is btc-e lately have a much lower price for Bitcoins? I have noticed this pattern over the last few days. I mean it's not that much lower, sometimes by almost $5, sometimes as high as $10!

This does not start today but it has always been like that since the time of mtgox it is usually around $15 lagging.

I have always seen this big gap in price on btc-e. Thought it was just normal since everybody is showing a different price.
When I goto preev, it shows me all (bitfinex, bitstamp and btc-e check marked) and the price is higher than all of them if I was to choose one by one. I just thought it was all prices compounded together to show this high price.

Historically it's been like this. Mr.relax has explained why. I would just like to add that when price is up trending like at the moment, there is a bigger lag by the btc-e. Also when price is falling then this lag shrinks. When price is stable and going sideways, there is a difference from about $5 - $10.

Yea I'm US so I can't even deposit on the site. I had just noticed their price always seems to be lower, but their trade volume seems decent. Made me scratch my head.

Its not uncommon. One reason is its hard and expensive to get fiat funds in.
Actually the easiest way is via okpay and it costs alltogether 2.5%. You see? this is ~7.5$
