So BTC is going up on pretty low volume currently. So what changed to get people willing to pay a higher price now? Is there some news or anything I am missing here?

Or is China just not having any news lately so they get the price to rise and then "News" comes out and ppl are like oh snap time to sell again. Idk.

Because people that missed the 2013 april rally and the october rally just realized that they will miss and regret another time if they dont buy now  Wink

I think this "low" volume is the real volume, higher volumes we experienced before could be exaggerated by day trading and bots. Now that people keep less on the exchanges, and/or there is less margin in day trading, the volume we see now reflects the real demand.

Low volume and low volatility has always been a bullish sign for bitcoin, historically speaking.  Be careful chasing the dragon  Cool

This is the pattern every time.  Volume will increase when people start dusting off their old coins and bringing them to market.

So what changed to get people willing to pay a higher price now?

People see price has stabilized and want to front-run everybody else on the upturn.

People just got tired of selling. Smiley That's all. You can always come up with some arbitrary explanation due to "News". But at the same time you can never prove that these "News" are the real cause of a specific market movement. So it's a waste of time to search for explanations.

Because of the relatively low volume I don't think that a new longterm uptrend is born yet. I expect prices to trend sideways for a another few months.

Where do you get that? If you feel like selling, go on. I m sure you will fid people wanting to buy.

The only reason why bitcoin was in a bear trend is because there was a bubble. People like to think that every move in any market is due to events! That s very funny, and they ask themself why there is manipualtion

That may or may not be true.

Not all the trading goes on at the exchanges, but that's the only volume that's visible to us.

There is a very large OTC market, which includes much of the payment processor volumes.
