as I am using xapo for my transactions so heard for the first time about that when a fees is given less than the require then it will be cancelled. Now I learned that why some services and some people do not progress in deal when the transaction get at least 1 confirmation. Is there any calculator with which we will find that how much will we pay the fees for any amount of transaction?
Fees are not dependent on the amount being transacted by the size of the transaction in bytes. It all depends on how many inputs and outputs your transaction has. Most modern wallets will dynamically calculate fees for you by analyzing the blockchain. This site: http://bitcoinfees.21.co/ does a pretty good job too of a satoshi per byte breakdown of fees.

I have sent 1.49 BTC this morning from BTC core, they usually get confirmed quick but not one confirmation yet, have I done something wrong?
Transaction ID- 0675092b9d8b2ea417397c14d7971e43951e1a46ddc2746b8c984fb8a8a9c61d-000

Transaction rejected by our node. Reason: Fee is too low / Not sufficient priority

yep

How did you send a no fee transaction?  Are you using Eligius' node?

Thank you for the info here!  -zapwallettxes just saved my skin too after I foolishly ticked the zero fee box right before sending the transaction.  That feature should be removed from the wallet given that it equates to "suspend my coins in the ether".

However, now I have a double spend warning showing on blockchain.info, and since the coins I sent were a gift I'm not really comfortable with that.  How long does the double spend warning remain?  Does it disappear automatically after a time or is there something I can do to remove it?  I don't want the gift to look dodgy just because I was stupid enough to try to send it with a zero fee....
The double sirens watching sticks around for a while but it doesn't matter after you get 1 confirmation.

It also doesn't matter because that is just what blockchain.info says and it is not representative of all of the other nodes on the network.

Hi, I read everything you suggested and appreciate all your assistance. Now have version v0.13.0 but the abandon transaction key isn't highlighted and won't work. Have tried inserting those command lines you suggested but they come up with an error in red.  Sad
You have to start bitcoin core with the _zapwallettxes option. It is not a command for the debug console. It a startup option. See https://achow101.com/2016/07/Bitcoin-Core-Troubleshooting#option-startup for help on that.

Just a reminder to start by making a copy of your wallet.dat file. As long as you have a backup, your coins are fine and you can always fix this. But if you lose your wallet.dat file there is no hope at all.

I have a transaction I sent without a proper fee by mistake, now it's stuck and the abandon transaction button is not working. Any ideas how to fix this?
Please, read what people have responded to you already. You aren't going to get any help if you don't read.

Have you done what people have suggested to you? Did you start Core with -zapwallettxes? Have you tried the abandontransaction command if your Core version is 0.12 or greater? Have you tried the abandon transaction option if your Core version is 0.13.0?

My old wallet data did not autopopulate, any ideas?
Go to Help > Debug Window. Check that the field labeled "datadir" is what you expect it to be. If you set a custom location, it should be that location. If you used the default, it should be like C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin. If it is not correct, then you need to run Bitcoin Core with the -choosedatadir option in order to select the data directory.

First make sure that Bitcoin Core have finished updating and is synced then try rescanning. The method (for windows) is the same as what I posted above but with -rescan instead of -zapwallettxes.

downloaded the new version, how do I get my old wallet data loaded into it?

It should be automatic so long as the datadir stays the same. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not remove the datadir so your wallet will already be there.

Here's my version Bitcoin Core version v0.9.1.0-g026a939-beta
Where do I put in the command line?? So sorry to bug you with this, I'm not stupid (I don't think......) but it always just worked before........

Depends on what OS you're using.
For windows the fastest way is to press Win+R and type:
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -zapwallettxes

Change the path if you installed the wallet somewhere else. If you're using other OS then post it.

BTW that's a really old version, I'd suggest you find a time and update it.

How do I abandon the transaction?

If you're using 0.13 just right click the transaction and select abandon transaction. If you're using 0.12.x go to Help > Debug > Console and type abandontransaction "txid". If you're using an even older version then I'd suggest you update. Or if you can't update for some reason then run bitcoin-qt with -zapwallettexes command (via run window/console/terminal).

How can I remedy this?

Backup your wallet.dat file.
Run bitcoin core with option -zapwallettxes=1 on command line.
Make the transaction again with a higher fee.
