Price wise I think bitcoin will definately grow faster than gold. It is much easier for bitocin to grow twice in price than it is for gold at this moment.

However, I don't think gold will be replaced as a store of value any time soon. It is time tested and just too much money is involved with it.

I think gold has been proven to be the longest currency we all see solid.

Since we use gold in other areas as well. I still think bitcoin has a long way to go. But, you`ll notice all the gold people are eyeing on bitcoin too.

There was a thread here dedicated to that topic.

Over 3 years it had >30K posts and >1.1M page views, probably the most popular thread after the wall thread.

But then Thermos locked that thread and banned it because some people there were pro BIP101 and scaling bitcoin as according to Satoshi's vision.

If you really want to ask BTC or Gold, why don't you ask Thermos why he blocked discussion on that topic and forced everyone to leave bitcointalk.

I learned more reading that single thread than any other on bitcointalk. Shame it's gone.

I don't think it's very realistic to compare them in any way. Bitcoin is absolutely tiny. That means it could either rise like mad or die and no one else would care. Gold will always be with us. Bitcoin has to prove it can be useful to a lot of people before it even starts to look like something similar.

Growing in price will be faster on Bitcoins than gold, but now in adoption as payment or savings gold has a big aceptation (gold is used for savings from a lot of years), bitcoin needs time to reach it, and prices more stables could help.

gold have more stable price in market than bitcoin
even gold's price will go up/down, there was not too much fluctuating like bitcoin do
so bitcoin will always grow faster than gold as long as everybody still like using/investing bitcoin

Can we say whether bitcoin will grow faster or slower than gold?

Gold has been around forever i think its pretty easy to say at this point bitcoin would grow much faster since it has so many places to grow into. Gold is already everywhere, the price has been discovered.

Yeah but that's not gonna matter in the future, in my opinion. Look at how fast Btc is adopting compared to what other technologies back in the days did.

Gold is one of the oldest but it's not really that practical, do you know any shops in your town that accept gold as payment? Except for pawn shops.

Bitcoin is much easier to use, even for older people to learn, and with the increasing evolution in technology I am sure bitcoin will take off faster than what the internet did.

I can't recall it verbatim, but someone said:

"In times of chaos, hold your gold.
In time of plenty, [sic] other valuables/antiques"

gold was already surpassed in the past, but then we tanked, the problem of bitcoin is its instability, when this will be fixed, there is no choice for gold but succumb

i'm not too much in gold, i think the stagnation, will cut big profit from it, i don't see it returning even at its best ath

I disagree. Gold will always have its value. In any case no matter what we think of it.
Nations have gold reserves. Rich people have gold investments. And so on.
Gold will always be with us.

Today I would invest 50/50 in gold and BTC

I think bitcoin has much more potentially to grow quickly than gold in my opinion. Gold is still a safer option in the long term.

I'm not even sure how the gold growth was in the past few years honestly , but gold exists since thousands of years so it value is probably not going to die at all and it's not the case for BTC however and on the other hand , gold can't be spent to buy goods and services like Bitcoin so that may bring more people to bitcoin and make it grow faster .

Do you mean the price or adoption as a store of value? Gold has been the "standard" for thousands of years, and bitcoin is only 6 years old. I am not sure how to compare the "growth" rate of a baby vs an old man...
