Yes, the decline in Bitcoin is a fatal blow to the altcoin. It is also a big blow to the ICO. We should end the investment in the garbage ICO so that the scammers can't make a profit, otherwise a lot of ICO scams hurt Bitcoin.

Check out the Altcoin forum, a few days ago I found a thread with "Is it the end for our bounty hunter career?". At least the questioning started. With people being less interested in cryptocurrency, maybe they will be less interested in that doesn't worth so. I believe the Merits system is doing fine actually, but we will always spammers, here and on the www.

I'm not happy with the current price drop of most coins especially BTC but I think it will help the forum to avoid such spammer as their interest is gone in doing some bounty and airdrop.

We will see a potential decrease of number of spammers as they will lose interest on posting here. Well I'm glad if this will happen. Would love to see those dedicated members stay even though its few at least we can clean this forum.

Who's agree with me?

I don't think so the falling prices of bitcoins has any kind of impact on spammers leaving this forum, on the contrary I see more spammers. These one's will have common lines like, omg bitcoins is falling to 1k, please lend me some money I made a loss. The point is these people love to spam irrespective of the prices, the only change is their words to suit themselves.

I will disagree with you on this one the drop in the price of bitcoin has nothing to do on bounty hunters even though the prices are low there would always be an available coin I can see you Mr OP has a signature on yourself so do I and I don't think it's a wrong thing.

The people that will feel this the most would be investors there would be alot of mixed feelings within them

They have already started a new industry, shilling shitcoins for profit. The less bitcoin people give altcoin and ICO projects, the less scammers in crypto.

There will be value in a few of the top 10 altcoins but only the best of the best are going to be around five years from now.

There is no way 1000 altcoins that are alive today (think there are 10,000+) will still be running next year.

Drops in price and poor market situation creates lack of interest and desire to post or discuss the current situation.
This does not only discourage spammers but legitimate, and quality posters as well, we have lost a couple of good posters over the years for this reason.

The spammers I feel would be more reluctant to leave.

No, BTC price dropping just makes spammers less active, but what makes them really desperate is the Merit system.
If there is no Merit system, the spammers will once again occupy the forum when the market improves.

To be honest, I see no dramatic changes after the introduction of the merit system.
My opinion is that, on the contrary, spam has become even more and now it has spread not just to posts but to create topics.
In such a stripped as - Bitcoin Discussion, Alternate cryptocurrencies, absolutely can not find a normal topic.

BTC price drop in general will probably lead to less interest on the whole on the cryptomarket in the short run, until it picks up on price again or, better still, we get to see real case usage boost at some point. Until then, this could lead to less people signing-up on the forum and/or being less active, thus reducing overall spam, while increasing price-related questions as @Hivalley points out.

It's has actually done the exact opposite, take a minute of your time to visit the BD section this days, it's been one thread or the other relating to the bitcoin price, and all this topics are all asking the same thing thats been asked and answered before
I think the sharp decline in price birthed more spammers as its now easy for them to conjure posts such as:"when will bitcoin rise again","I cannot hold anymore" etc..

The price of BTC has not derailed spam in the past, neither will it now

The Enhanced newbie restrictions has been doing a very good job to reduce spam across all the boarda on the forum.

Since we started the steady drop from the heights of early this year, ICOs has been on the decrease, with lots of scams filling that space, but this hardly derailed spammers and I don't think more drops would as long as there are still ICOs to join in.
But the one merit system is one that can't be circumvented and has been (and still is) reducing account farming and spam
