A sudden decline and boost on Bitcoin's price has become too normal nowadays. Most are just overlooking the charts. Bitcoin has enough demand worldwide to support its price and do not go beneath the 2000 USD borderline. Bitcoin will just have ups and downs for this month and when July steps in, we will see an increase in Bitcoin's price. Bitcoin might just reach the 3000 USD mark on July. Just hold and enjoy a bumpy ride for the moment.

I am also looking at bitcoinwisdom checking the prices on different exchanges like bitstamp,  BTC-e, Bitfinex, and OKCoin, it seemd the price recovered a bit after dropping,  does this mean bitcoin is facing a bearish trend now?  Correction after correction, well, I just hope it won't fall down lower than 2500 USD.

Even I am using Bitcoinwisdom for my analysis. I changed the time interval to 3 days, and there is no decline in sight. It is almost a straight line, pointing upwards. That means that the overall trend is still positive. After I changed the interval to 1 day, the current decline is visible. But I don't think that it is going to last very long.

We seem to have dropped another $100 today, to reach $2600.
Bitfinex even slipped to $2421 where it got a slight bump to $2530 just now. Everyone was already speculating about reaching the $3000 mark easily, but turns out, nothing comes easy in terms of Bitcoin.

There is a good level of demand, sentiment and momentum needed to make the price push through the $3000 mark. I am actually happy that it didn't do so yet as I right now prefer consolidation over another rush.

Good post BitHodler, I agree that it's better to consolidate & build support levels around the mid $2000's, nobody wants to see epic dumps.

Last time trhe price touched $300 was late 2015, I think. Seems to be a distant past nowadays with the price soaring over 10 times in a span of less than two years. For the price to go really low again, something drastic would have to happen, which is really unlikely right now, what with all the adoption going on in several parts of the world.

The OP is talking about the price of bitcoin decreasing by $300, not to $300. After crossing $3k, we did see an immediate correction.
We seem to have dropped another $100 today, to reach $2600.

one would think you are used already to such swings in bitcoin price
this is nothing out of the ordinary and probably has a very simple explanation (apart from bitcoin being a bubble and all):
many players and traders sold some bitcoins to cath the ETH rally train
once the excitement subsided we should see the price go up back to 2900-2950$ if not more
I doubt it will drop to 1500 any time soon, unless the hardfork proves to completely screw the things up,which it should not

It felt like only yesterday where everyone was cheering for the 2000$ mark. Sometimes we forget the anxieties  a few ATHs later.

If we can't get past 3000 this month, there's nothing to be worried about. Bitcoin must drop in price every now and then to encourage buyers too. More buyers = eventual higher values.

Earlier today, Bitcoin price was close $3000 and reached $3000 in some exchanges, and it's now dropping. This is not good. For how long is going to keep on doing this? But I know it's a good thing for those who are willing to buy their first BTC. Hopefully they just can't wait until it reaches the $1500 mark.
Are you nervous? Don't be nervous just because the price went back $300. It's now trying to recover, just expect when there's no movement of price and it became stable for a couple of days or weeks next movement will be down. And this is good for those investors that wants to buy bitcoin as they will be given a chance to buy with smaller price.

Well , it went down to 2284 on bitfinex so that's more like 700$ Smiley

That's a big bullish move but currently the price of bitcoin now is trying to make a new floor. I think we are already on the safe haven of $2,500 as the new floor price of bitcoin. And the price now is good and playing from $2,690 - $2,720 and it gets higher from time to time. So there's no need to worry with this normal move.

As you mentioned i think the consensus here is that if bitcoin prices ever hit that low, people will buy in. Bitcoin has a lot of supporters, no doubt. Even if we only have a few thousand dollars each if we all buy in when the price plummets it'll stabilize the price is little and hopefully make bitcoin recover.

However, your worry is probably in the distant future. I can't even imagine what $1,500 per bitcoin would be like right now, even though we were at that price point around a month and a half ago. Crazy how things go by so quick, it's almost scary. Seems like that $3,000 is new short term ceiling for BTC. I don't think that we're over with this pump yet. In the next few weeks, things will be very interesting. How the UASF goes though will be crucial to whether btc sustains this sort of price or gets dumped. Two chains are probably going to be split as a result, and it's going to be a hassle managing two wallets at once for the same btc.

The thing is a lot of people aren't expecting this price drop andi 've seen a lot that are actually quite happy because of it. I would be happy too if it went down back to $1500 because i missed out on a ton of buying opportunities throughout the pump. I'm just probably going to stock up on bitcoin for cheap and hold it till the next big pump comes if it does happen to go that low.

Extremely unlikely though that it will reach that low. Absolutely floor is pretty much set at $2,000 and it's pretty immutable atm. It first crashed to around $2500-2600, but now it's recovering. If speculators want to make the price of btc low they need to have a lot of btc and a lot of motivation. Not an easy task.

It's all fine when the price goes up with a few hundred bucks in a short time, but if the price goes down a few hundred bucks, it has become a problem suddenly? 10% drops are a frequent occurrence in current market circumstances, nothing to weird or special here. You can't expect all people to firmly hold their coins without cashing out a small portion of their coins at current levels. Bitcoin for most people is an investment tool after all...

Indeed. 10% fluctuations in a day are very normal for a lot of markets, and for something still as very volatile as Bitcoin, this is to be fully expected. It has shot up much more in the same period of time. As price gets higher, the 10% becomes more. Remember when it was moving hundreds of dollars at 600-1000? That's bigger swings percentage wise.

Bitcoin has been dropping and climbing since its beginnng.
I suppose it will always be that way.
Of course, on the long run bitcoin has increased its value dramatically.
And with an increased value, the value of the deflection turns larger as well.
But its percentage stays about the same.

Waiting for 1500? I don't think soo even we saw sudden price dip of -300 it wont go back again on 1500,theres possibility but it wont happen as of now the price is climbing back again and lucky for those person who purchased on lowest price which is $2600. Don't panic brother, its just normal for price to go down sometimes, remember that bitcoins price is too volatile so expect the unexpected things anytime.
To fall back to the $ 1500 price it can still happen that probably will not happen bitcoin prices are below $ 1000 let alone down to $ 300. As you say bitcoin price is too fliktuatif so unexpected things can happen anytime, it shows no one The reason for which bitcoin prices will stabilize at one point.

Around $300 fall in the price of bitcoin is something a big volatility. This taking place when the price is getting closer to $3000 is the bad news for all the bitcoin users. This time the price retains, but we may need to wait few weeks to experience the $3000. Now a  panic selling will make the market fluctuatory.

Yes, if you're a long-term investor then no need to worry about this corrections. It is quite common and expected when anything goes up so much high from its original price. It will be a range bound for some time and after stabilises around 2500 to 3000 range then it will pick up to the next level. But that may take some time and it may not happen soon.

It is normal that it goes down and up really, new people can get in at slightly lower prices and traders can earn some more. Would be quite boring if it were static.

Yeah, it would be better that it just went up and up, but this is what we have...

Yeah price use to fluctuate normally in btc chart but yesterday marketcapital of the altcoins also has been turned to red. However, now bitcoin value has been recovered and value is around 2700$. Therefore, if you wish to sell out the bitcoins means don't do that and hold it for sometime. It gives profit to you.

Very large amount, if you were some one holding 5 million bitcoins you could have a heart attack on the spot after seeing something like $1.5B lost in value of your coins, I really don't know how these whales doing it, I have less than 40 coins and that's just not really for myself but rather a gift from my fiance to literally get into my pants Cheesy and I am now in a sad mood
You must have some balls to take these losses. However I'm not losing hope and won't dump so easily, to the moon we go!

I am one of the people waiting to see it reach the $1500 mark so that I can finally own a few, honestly speaking I have been waiting for quite some time now. It seems like the price is no longer going below the $2000 mark.
Bitcoin has very small chance to drop back at $1500 and the last correction was brought back bitcoin to $1800 as the lowest price.
Even $2000 won't happen if there is no big problem occurs that makes people afraid to loss and panic sell.
However, bitcoin already recover a bit after dropped $300, I just see it as the way for some people who want to get profits by sell their bitcoin and buy back at lower price.

Well drop is what they called correction, but I think some ICO project is cashing out  Cheesy, or probably whales is playing their trick again.  Anyway, lets just hope this is either correction or whales playing the market because if it is the whales then we can surely see another surge in price of Bitcoin in the following week.
that is just normal for bitcoin, some time the price of bitcoin even drop much more but now people are use to with bitcoin and they are not going for panic selling and are holding bitcoin in any case.
For now they are not panic sell and they know they will lose if they sell bitcoin .. i watched the price drop few hours ago but i already sold few of my bitcoin after that few minutes the price gradually crashed.  but i think its just a small crash and its a good time again to buy bitcoins for a little bit low price. . the good thing is coinbase are not letting more crash happen because i saw after i sold bitcoin coinbase is unable before the crash happen..

I dont see any panic Selling happening right now but the way I see it those people who sold their coins a re pretty much contented for the profits they earned for this day, But surely bitcoins price would cameback to its phase and actually the record set last night is pretty much good and surely it added more good + stand up for this one and possibilities that price would soar again for next time around.

It`s happening with BTC price all the time, I was watching graphics a lot, and looks like bitcoin price was never stable for more then a few days. Price tend to go up for some time, then drop, then up
again and like that for years. I don`t understand corrections and what whales actually do, I understand that price moving is what make so many people to talk about here, and all over the world.

yeah, the problem here is the $300 drop in one hour, atleast if it was in a weeks period, then I would understand, 1hour Shocked?

To you the price going down a few hundred bucks may seem like a whole thing, but the reality is that it is all part of the market. If you look at the overall buy support, then you'll see that it's piss poor on each and every level. Relatively small dumps cut through the price like a hot knife does through butter. In that regard, prepare yourself for even more in the coming years. If the price at some point reaches the $10,000 levels, you'll see the same easy 10% dumps, but where the price goes down with $300 right now, it will then sink with $1000 in a matter of an hour.

Bitcoin is trading at a range for a very long time and it is not that surprising that we saw a small correction after touching three thousand dollars, expect these sort of movements in the market unless and until there is a big push from either side, until then the market will repeat itself reaching close to $3000 and having a small correction and then climbs back.

It is always advised to hold half fiat and half in bitcoin to buy cheap bitcoin or other alts during dump/correction like this one. This opens up opportunity for new investors to get into bitcoin/crypto while old investors will enjoy profit they make on this swings.  Grin

In the same way that you should never buy with everything at once, you also have to avoid selling everything at once. In this case you enjoy buying at lower levels, and in the other case you enjoy as in being able to secure profits at even higher levels. It's a common sense practice, but still, people keep making the same fault by buying or selling everything at once....

It was all because of the ETH rally. People selling their BTC to buy into ETH. The price will probably correct to the almost $3,000 mark here in a few days. This just tends to happen when a big coin gets boosted. People are going to panic and fomo will kick in.

Partly yes but I would also say it was just a general healthy market correction that will ultimately prevent a much bigger dump in the future.

The bancor ICO also made people reconsider a lot of things.

It makes absolutely no sense.
Bitcoin is dropping against the usd and you can buy eth directly with btc without converting to fiat.

So how is this "eth rally" really affecting bitcoin?

I doubt those people waiting for $1,500 will really buy bitcoin at that price. If ever they will have a mindset like that, surely the moment the price reached that level, they will still wait since they think the market is downtrend. Too much waiting now and what happened next? Big price increase happened later on and now they are all late and left regrets.

Don't set too much price targer if you can't clearly see that based on the current price movement. As long as you think that the price is good for you to set your buys then just do it and just watched it later on.

Declining and reaching the 1500 dollar mark is a bit too much dump on Bitcoin's price. If that happens, damn, I shouldn't buy back bitcoin so early. Though this is a good news for some who intends to buy some bitcoin at a low price and a bad news for any regular user that hates bitcoin to go down. Bitcoin has many users now and has a big demand for it so declining so much is not in the picture anymore. Around 2000 USD is much more possible but going down beyond that is doubtful to me.

Bitcoin for most people is an investment tool after all...
yeah, the problem here is the $300 drop in one hour, atleast if it was in a weeks period, then I would understand, 1hour Shocked?

Maybe this is some correction again that we are seeing. That is what I afraid of before. People has the tendency to sell when $3000 barrier is reached. I see that it was break in few exchanges, so maybe casual investors just decided to dump their coins. But I think there will be some resistance and I think the price could hold around $2500-$2600. And gradually rise again in the next weeks to reached the mental barrier that is $3000. I hope this dumping is short lived just like the previous crash in May. We will see.

Keep on waiting mate as we all are I'd bet, while you see price fluctuations others see percentage of loss or gain, if you bought at $3000 then

Try not to sell for any price less than $3000 I can see now why some people are even begging newbies not to panic and dump because that's

When price truly goes down. Bitcoin and these fluctuations are fit together and that's attracting which is a positive property IMO.

This is nothing compared to the Mt. Gox days. That willie bot had the price all over the place back in 2013. Granted price came down sharply after reaching the ATH that year. But we don't really have these problems anymore, the eco system is much stronger and there are many more major exchanges that are solvent. Hopefully Segwit will activate and we can go to the moon.

In less than 1 week ago the price was lower than the current price.

I think we are spoiled with big gains and when there is a small correction of few days then people get mad

I do not think that the price of bitcoin will drop down to $300 because as you can see, the price of bitcoin is nearly $3000 and a small dump only cause nothing. It will soon recover from the crash and hit $4000.
You misunderstood the topic sir, Bitcoin had $300 drop today in one hour, not it will drop to $300. I assume that now you understand, you can send in your new opinion now

Exactly! That is the problem. I've been around for a while so you can trust me. I remember in early April 2011, when bitcoin was trading at ~$0.80 and in a matter of a few hours hit ~$0.60! I knew that was the beginning of the end for bitcoin, and its proved correct as we've sustained a long term bubble-pop down trend (you have to ignore the recent highs which are imaginary and will regress to the downtrend mean). I'm glad you can see things clearly as I do, and hope you've managed to escape the catastrophic bitcoin downward spiral. Good luck!

That one I know and understand but what I don't understand is why the sudden $300 drop, in one hour? What are you going to say if the same thing happens even tomorrow? Another $300 drop in one hour and the day after the same thing happens. You can't predict the Bitcoin price

Bitcoin always fluctuate up/down is part of it since the first day, soo for those wich wanna to buy this is a good moment to buy and hold, bitcoin is finding support, there isnt news to affect the price, just whales playing with week hands, soo dont get scared because there is a dump, if you follow the market you can see that eth is worthing 0,14 btc and there are people dumping their bitcoins to join those or any other altcoin pump, thats normal.

$1500? that is too much, that is unlikely to happen, we know that everytime it pumps, it will have an equivalent dump, as an investor in bitcoin, and other digital currencies, these kind of dumos are pretty natural. It may be a bad sign, but it is a good sign for someone who want to invest on bitcoin. I think if it reaches $1500? It will just fly back againn to $2900.

What makes you want the value of bitcoin to decline? I think we will all suffer a lot if the bitcoin value is only $ 1500. However, I am sure that it will never happen, the value of bitcoin fluctuates constantly, but it is always stable.
Everyone would want a bitcoin price increase. Those who want a downward price in my opinion are the speculators who just want the benefits only. But when bitcoin prices become higher then we can get more money. This can have a positive impact on all those who hold bitcoin in large quantities. But will make most users bicoin suffered losses.

It looks like a reaction to ETH pumping, people sold their BTC to get in to ETH in time for the rally. It will likely fix itself soon though.
Surely it will, that moment when people were hoping for the $3000+ stable mark, and the drops again

It is normal that it goes down and up really, new people can get in at slightly lower prices and traders can earn some more. Would be quite boring if it were static.

Yeah, it would be better that it just went up and up, but this is what we have...

I hope you don't mind but I can feel that you are predispose to panic whenever Bitcoin is having some necessary corrections. Please study the rise and fall history of Bitcoin and you can see that there is nothing to worry about. After some correction, Bitcoin can be back moving again upward. The most important thing is that the trend is up. In fact, there are many who are happy that Bitcoin shed some value so they can buy Bitcoin at a lower price.

And you should be instead happy because there are those who can take advantage of this window of opportunity to own some Bitcoin at less cost. Now, that is something worthwhile to think about instead of showing some panicking.

Calm down. Relax. Be happy.

I am one of the people waiting to see it reach the $1500 mark so that I can finally own a few, honestly speaking I have been waiting for quite some time now. It seems like the price is no longer going below the $2000 mark.

You need to wait until the August 1st date when Bitcoin may fork or at least this is what being talked in this forum and reddit. If it really happens the price will fall down in the first moments because of panic selling so you must wait for this opportunity to own some. Maybe at that time Bitcoin price goes even down further to the 1000 dollars zone. If you can't wait buy a small amount through traders in the forum but make sure you deal with honest people first.

It's a common thing that bitcoin price drops like that.
It's okay, it's only a matter of time until the price rise again.
As above me saying, we all will suffer if the price drop to $1500, I agree on that one.
But as of now, I think it will only need a few hours or days till it reach its highest price again.
Suffer in what way? Even if it drops, you know that Bitcoin will always recover
