Not much has been going on with Bitcoin's price for the past 3 weeks or so now. How stable do you think this price point is?
Yes BTC price pretty much flat and stable not big movement.I really think pump and dump really bad for bitcoin in this way some people are winner and most of the people are looser.we do not want to see bitcoin 2013 situation. We wish no one can show their finger to bitcoin as ponzi.
what makes people thinking that bitcoin is ponzi just because of price fluctuation,it doesn't make sense to be honest, but this stability of the price seems  good for me who wanna spent to buy stuff online with bitcoin, sometime if you just paid some stuff online and suddenly price increasing,it's such a pain in my ass,and there's still a regret,so this price stability definitely not a problem

i cannot believe that i am seeing someone in the year 2016 calling bitcoin ponzi, it is so funny and stupid now.

the ponzi calling wave is so 2009 and for the time that nobody knew what bitcoin was and there wasn't really any application for it either.

these days with all the big and small businesses accepting bitcoin you have to be a real idiot to think bitcoin is ponzi Cheesy

Ahah, it's something of a statement that is true to respond that he was talking about. Bitcoin is not something a ponzi or hyip. Bitcoin is a currency, but also the investment that bitcoin is profitable. Bitcoin system may be similar to a ponzi, but detrimental and not mess up bitcoin as ponzi

what i think is that this is another calm before the storm, we will see a pump pretty soon, unless another shitty exchange is hacked lol, you should not be worried about those stagnation imho

I think it is better for bitcoins to remain stable at the current price near 600$.  This will give more trust to the investors in bitcoin and more people will be attractive towards it.
If the price remains stable and does not fall back, after sometime the price will automatically boost.

yes but i think it's better if bitcoin increase so miners can earn more and diff increase, this mean that network will be more secure, if we can increase slowly is better than being stable
I think so, better have increase time after time than being stable. Even if the price decrease again during all the process that must be passed, bitcoin will rise with respect to the advantages offered. I think bitcoin price will increase by the end of the year, about $600 will be good.

I said month ago that price below 600 is a good price for buying, and I still think the same. Bitcoin will go up, it's just a question of time.

Right now is a decent moment to buy yourself some coins, but you know what the thing with people is? They say "When the price goes below $600 I'll start buying Bitcoin directly". And when the price happens to drop to below that price level as it is right now, then people keep waiting without doing anything, lol. That happens all the time. Even when the price was below $300 last year. These are the kind of people always missing great buying opportunities. Moaners is what I call them.

Highly unlikely that there is something permanent with bitcoin price. Are we waiting for some big storm after this quiet weeks, and will we go up after storm or not is a big question. I'm watching price movement in couple last years, and almost every summer have downfall trend, and after summer there is rise and that rise last almost all winter until the beginning of the spring.

I am seeing this as a silence before storm, price may go upwards or downwards but i think probability of rise in price is high. So better to accumulate at this price range.

I agree with that. After two to three weeks of consolidation, the bitcoin price will reach the $650 again.

every pump needs an stable phase before it so that you can buy more bitcoin to have more in the pump to earn the most profit out of the rise.
Not quite sure if it's possible though. One does not simply pump the price of bitcoin (directly at least).

Unless you're a billionaire of course.

Bitcoin is no longer the roller coaster is once was.

What I find strange is how the entire roller coaster has transferred wholesale to alts. It's not as if Bitcoin now has global adoption and lords over everything. It has more than the alts but it's still in the same boat and effectively nowhere. In the eyes of the rest of the world it's just as penny stockish as anything else yet doesn't have the corresponding action.

What alts are you talking about? Other than monero they look pretty dead to me right now. 2014 was a great year for alts.

maybe you have to check out coinmarketcap sometime Cheesy
every year there are at least 2 altcoins that are being pumped from zero to the moon, and this year it was the scam called ethereum which was pumped to 0.034BTC and just two days ago morero was pumped 130%

what else do you want Wink
A hell of a lot more than 2 coins pumping in 8 months (ok, there was Factom and Steem pumps too). Back in 2014 you had 2 coins going 10x+ every week, and those were the small ones. The alt scene is better than 2015, but that ain't saying much.

I think it is stable for next 3 weeks and in my prediction after it, the bitcoin's price will going down because if we looked at last halving block on November bitcoin's price has be chrashed. But it is just my analysis tecnical and my opinions.

May be you are right, but i have different thinking from you, because i think after one month bitcoin would be started to grow up. And after block halving everyone know that bitcoin price would be down, and also Bitfinex has doing a part to downing the price of bitcoins. Thats why bitcoin is down now but don't worry it will grow very soon.

Yes but mostly these alts will get dumped as fast they got pumped.
Also Bitcoin made a 75% gains this year already until it corrected.
When we take the last 12 months it gained an incredible 270% before the correction. And we are still up 185% now.
So within a year Bitcoin also still has the potential to rise massively!! Nothing has changed to the early years.

Bitcoin is not really known for its stability. Sooner or later we know it will move again and hopefully it moves up. But in my opinion it needs to go down slightly in order for it to get accumulated more by strong hands before the day traders get to pump it again increasing volatility again. Many people see that a downward price direction as bad. It's not, it needs to go down so it could go up in my opinion.

I maybe one of those who don't mind that the price has not been behaving bitcoin-like. But let's not be fooled by these "calm and boring days" because for all we know, the whales are just accumulating at these lower levels and could pump the price again past $650. But what do I know. There's so much uncertainty about the price of bitcoin and the worst I could do is predict exactly how it is going to perform in the coming months.

I was short prior to the Bitfinex hack but didn't make money to speak of, b/c the price didn't drop on Bitfinex itself. The post-bubble trend was already in place and it's just silly to put so much emphasis on the hack. In the hours leading up to the hack announcement, there was no real support until about $540, and it was questionable how long even that would hold.

There's no such thing as permanent with bitcoin. As we see everyday, the price still moves although not as much like the recent months. It is somehow gaining some strength again because of its slow climb towards $600 again. There maybe days that the price doesn't seem to move, but I expect to change in the next few months.

This 100% Bitcoin is one of those things that do the unpredictable in price. One day its mooning and one day its going to the shitter. Just keep holding and do some smart trading to increase your holdings

so far only the drops are unpredictable but the rise is clear. for example the last big drop was not predictable and it was only caused by the bitfinex hack and the panic it caused. but in a normal situation you can see the small drops and rises and even predict the bigger rises when you see the charts.

Permanent, yeah right.  OP, how long have you been in crypto??  We were stuck at $430 for something like 7 months straight not too long ago, and then we had the run up right before the halving.

We're just stalled for a little while, and the price could go down after this, for all anyone knows.  But what's certain (in my eyes at least) is that prices are not permanent.  Bitcoin has a lot of liquidity, a lot of traders.  That pretty much ensures prices won't stay the same for long.

The stability in price of bitcoin will attract more investors who will pump more money into the coin, leading to an increase in the price of bitcoin. Trading will then become viable again.

With the Bitfinex major fuckup, its gr8 we did not see more dumping and shit post about bitcoin being doomed

I am surprised on the BTC stability, the support could only mean in a month or two we might see easy 800+$

Nothing comes easy, especially when it comes to Bitcoin. The whole point is that there is no direction in which traders are focusing on. Support is weak, sentiment is poor, waiting traders, and so on. All this doesn't help the price in any way. I am quite sure that when we'll get to see the price recover again, that we must be happy to stay above $600 again as there is no way I can see the price reach $800 this year.

BTC's price can never be stable. It will either go up or down but currently, it's stable for a month like it was few months ago. The price is regulated by the people and hence it can never be permanent. Now as well, the price is fluctuating between $570-$588.

In my own view, as long as the price only reached it's max dipping value at below $550, it's just fine. Also slow movement means another resistance and support are building on the current level as long as no spoiled thing will happen like bad news etc. the price will remain roller coaster from $550 to close to $600.

In this kind of price behaviour, some can consider this as buying rate if they want to add some bitcoin in their investment portfolio.

should the price has increased and is above $700, but the news about hackers bitfinex destroy the price. so we will be quite stable in this price recovery. difficult to predict how long this will happen. but I hope at the end of the year there was an increase in prices
The price would more than like be around $600-$650 right now if there was no bitfinex hack. I doubt it would be above $700 because we were slowly drifting downwards before that, however I doubt that there would have been such a dip in the value. We'll probably see things going up over the autumn months.

Yeah right there is not price stable bitcoin is unpredictable anytime the price can be jump in high price or drop the value anytime..
Yeah The best solution always monitor the chart the value of the price so that if the price is increasing above the price in past days better to start to buy..

Permanent? Hell no! Bitcoin, though silent in terms at price at a certain point in time, still is a volatile asset and will remain as one for many more years to come. As for the recent stillness in price, maybe because of the lack of news that might affect holders and the network as a whole. A few weeks more, and surely there would be some movements in the markets due to traders taking their stance on the trading scene of btc.

it is because of the size of the markets and also the amount of manipulation i each of these markets.

bitcoin has been growing and the bitcoin market is so much bigger now compared to a couple of years ago so it is "harder" to manipulate it and make roller coasters.

but in altcoin market since the altcoins are mostly premined and also small market size, the price is manipulated to the max hence the roller coaster there.

if you look at the chart u see that the times where btc is jumping into sky .. are march and oktober/november
those are the times where people have the most cash to invest.

because people start having cash again after holidays at the beach,

Most people with children have run out of money by the end of the school holidays. It takes a month or two for them to get some spending money saved up afterwards. Most stocks and shares start to go up in value during October and November when those people can start buying again. Bitcoin is also likely to go up in price in the Autumn for the same reason.

There was a rally in November 2014, and another in November 2015, and there will probably be another in November 2016.

Right now we are in a bullish triangle and still testing the $582  upper resistence which had been a support level before.
I hope we see another bulish breakout within the next 24 hours.
I don't expect anything to happen this and next week. BTC-E went far over $590 but it had a few large players being either too excited, or they were just playing since they don't have to pay fees right now.

i think it's normal after what he have been through. actually, i quite like the current "stability" as it will have a positive impact on people not coming into bitcoin because of the volatility. it might pull the trigger for them if this continues for a longer period. but of course, it won't last very long. at some point the market will come back to action again.

Disagree. It is the only crypto worth having. Everything else is measured against it.
Why do peole even play alts? To increase their BTC.
First mover advantage, network effect.
It sits at the very centre of the crypto currency world and everything else revolves around it.
It is THE medium of account in crypto.

In the eyes of the rest of the world...nothing. Not important.. I don't care about their eyes or where they are looking. It's totally unimportant.
Effectivley nowhere.. well it has come an incredibly long way already.. but i 'll give you that one. It is effectively nowhere.. but it is best positioned to benifit, esp. when compared to other alts. Capital will flow into it. Guaranteed. I'm not even going to try and predict how much etc. but it is a certainty to happen.

Once the intransigence with blocksize is taken care of.. we'll see correspondig action.

If you are referring to last October and November, then you are wrong with your statement. The reason for the price to shoot up had diffirent reasons. Back then it was the MMM ponzi in China making people go nuts on Bitcoin for a short time. Also, I have never seen on TV that people are more interested in Bitcoin, and thus start buying it as result. And believe me, I keep an eye on nearly all the major media news channels.

That being said, you don't have to force yourself to first have a decent amount of fiat in order to buy yourself some coins. Just buy with whatever amount you can spend freely. When you buy small amounts from time to time, then eventually it will add up and form a nice number.

Why would you expect something to happen? Especially since there is nothing interesting comming up. Even not the latest 0.13.0 core client. The price is exactly behaving how it should after the hack of Bitfinex. Have patience. Bitcoin is no longer the roller coaster is once was.

The overhang of miners hoarding BTC in anticipation of the halving is playing itself out. Expect the price to move again in a few weeks. I am expecting a $750-1000 range by year-end

It's been up and down all year long. Hard to predict the future but just put the price into the context of your plans - quick buy and sell play? Or long term hold? Look at the price within the context of the last year, if it's at the lower end it could be the right time to buy.

Not much has been going on with Bitcoin's price for the past 3 weeks or so now. How stable do you think this price point is?
I think it is stable for next 3 weeks and in my prediction after it, the bitcoin's price will going down because if we looked at last halving block on November bitcoin's price has be chrashed. But it is just my analysis tecnical and my opinions.

I won't say it is permanent, it is just strengthening it's base. The last run happened from $450 to $750 and then rested on current price at $580 level. Before the next run, it will take some more time to stabilized at the current price.

I see no reason to worry for them who have invested in bitcoin for long term. Bitcoin price is not going to be permanent at this level, it will certainly increase.
