Maybe for small investors and newbies, they are being discouraged on how the price moves that seems to be far beyond affordable to them.
But it doesn't mean that Bitcoin's popularity is fading out for there are still lots of people wanting to have Bitcoin of their own.
Well, you have a point there, and additional --perhaps due to the fee of bitcoin that quite high, a regular user of bitcoin will perhaps looking another opportunity that they can use while during the price of bitcoin is high. I saw most of the small transactions have been tucked and they have here looking advice, they are paying below 10 sats hoping that they will save the fee but the problem it will take time for them to wait before the transaction will be confirmed. But all of this does not mean bitcoin adoption was fade.

It seems like it depends on the perception of the individual on how he look upon the current situation of Bitcoin if he will be discouraged or not because despite of the fact that the price of Bitcoin is keep on rising, there are lots of certain individuals who do still wanted to get along on engaging and investing into it and just waiting for the perfect time to enter the market. Maybe for small investors and newbies, they are being discouraged on how the price moves that seems to be far beyond affordable to them. But it doesn't mean that Bitcoin's popularity is fading out for there are still lots of people wanting to have Bitcoin of their own.

So a bit of applying some technical indicators which do form out some sort of descending triangle which do really move out sideways but i dont see the relevance for these
to be applied when it comes into that google trend.Anything could be formed out of those information or statistics. The thing here is that you can really see the sudden
jump on November since last year when this market starts to make out some serious movement.Still surprising? No its not because its just normal for people
or the crowd would jump into something where it is really on main talks or discussions specially on finance sector.

It seems like those people you are talking about who afraid of investing in BTC think that bitcoin already reached its fullest potential, well in fact it is not and no one can say about that, as long as there is an Internet connection, bitcoin will still be there and people will still keep on buying bitcoin. Those who are afraid will lose the opportunity to gain more money with bitcoin.
That's right, the potential for bitcoin is still very large to see the enthusiasm of the bitcoiners... fear or not, the price depends on each person, many are afraid to buy bitcoin but many still buy and continue to buy even though the price is high ...
^ Because they saw that BTC investment has a potential upon storing of value which means as a form of investment not the daily usage like a form of payment method. Those people who understand BTC investment that should wait a perfect time will surely engage and invest BTC. I don't see any reason that BTC now is fading its popularity, I saw that it is the most trending investment that day by day becomes more expensive. BTC has a unique technology protocol when it comes to real decentralization, no one coins do the same with BTC.

Once a man, twice a child!
A lot of people already feel left out, Almost like they have missed the opportunity to invest in bitcoin, many are looking to invest in other alt coins. I had a conversation with a friend today about Bitcoin, investment and its very high transaction fees, he expressed his displeasure saying that like him, many others that he knew are no longer considering btc to invest in, rather, they are looking to invest in other crypto's.
Do you think it is too late for someone to invest in btc? Especially when it is not a huge sum?
I don't think it's late investing in Bitcoin ATM, though the price is high. If anything, an investment in Bitcoin is safer than that in altcoins because Bitcoin has come to stay. Besides, Bitcoin is yet to hit the projected price of $100,000 for it. There is still room for its upward drive.

Tesla is likely to buy another 10 billion in BTC.
Likely is probability and shouldn't be taken as what MUST happen. It must not be Elon who will buy that huge to drive price up.

Well, it turns out our friends are different. When my friends knew that bitcoin price are getting higher, they all regretted the decision not investing in it sooner, and decided that they don't want to regret for the second time. So, even though the price is high already, they still willing to jump into this cryptocurrency world. Even if they can only invest for a little at the moment since the price is so high, but they still have the trust that the price will go higher in the future.
I don't think there's the word late for investment. If they still want to invest, then as long as they understand the situation, and willing to take the risk, anytime is suitable. It's better be late than never I guess.

yes, I agree with you, the transaction fees really become a big barrier for newcomers to join. mostly to people who don't have much money to invest.

however, let's take a look at this worldwide google trends data* for some specific keywords; cryptocurrency, bitcoin, ethereum, stocks. people's interest in bitcoin currently up and down, depending on the price. of course, it doesn't reflect the actual bitcoin or crypto users' growth.

The fact is that while some people say that it is too late to invest in BTC, the price of Bitcoin is growing even higher. If you want to get an exact answer to the account of how high the price of BTC will increase, then you will not get such an answer, since if everyone knows the peak price of BTC, then it will not be interesting and not correct. This is a game and as in any game there should be excitement, doubt and uncertainty. This is what gives people with the best endurance to win and make a profit. Another thing is that the price of BTC is already high and I would really like to buy BTC at a low price, but then the question? Why haven't you bought BTC before?

Quite the opposite IMO. What you mean to say I think is BTC seems to no longer be in hype, but its still quite popular. While there are still undoubtedly a vast majority of people who don't know bitcoin, I think that its even more popular today as compared to the past years plus its reputation is even better as compared during the time when ICOs were booming. Because of many ICO scams back in 2017, it has tainted the image of Bitcoin and was momentarily blocked in various parts of the internet (facebook, youtube) but now you can see that they are slowly warming up to bitcoin (recent addition of crypto tab on Google Finance). This current bull run has added to Bitcoin's popularity as well, as institutions are slowly adopting. Have you even been reading the news lately?

Yep, they do, but I'm willing to bet many of them will jump in Bitcoin when/if Bitcoin goes for another big run even if they have to buy at a higher price range than now.

If I learnt one thing it's that in a bull market you never will catch the absolute dip and if you just wait for that correction or dip to buy you will most likely end up not buying at all and missing out on the whole move, some even wait for 60-70% correction to buy which is not very smart, since when something goes down that much, maybe it means the market is turning bearish and you shouldn't be buying unless it's a very long-term investment and you're willing to hold.

Well, I was hearing this claim most of the time when the market is in Bullrun. Because in the first place and during the bear season they supposedly have to start buying Bitcoin but unfortunately, they don't bother themselves to make it, instead, they keep saying it dumps more and thinking of an end to crypto. And for now, they are blaming Bitcoin for not telling it... it's a funny thing.

It is not to wonder why these people never grow and appreciate Bitcoin because they are always blaming it. They never accept their failure, they never learn their mistakes, in fact, that 2017 is a lesson to learn for everyone which I really think that they missed it.

If you say "too late" there are many more who have not entered bitcoin. I'm sure bitcoin can reach $1m in the coming years. At the moment bitcoin is stable around $50k I'm sure this is just the beginning of the real thing. We'll see in a few years.

Well, it is true that Bitcoin price is now expensive and the same goes for the fees too, those factors are the reasons why people having a second thought about investing in Bitcoin. It is true that Bitcoin today's was really high but you don't need to have a big amount of it, what you can afford to buy is fine because it will still gain profit as the price goes even higher. Besides, investing in Bitcoin is less risky compared to investing in Altcoins that is why it is highly recommended for newcomers. For those will think they are late to invest in Bitcoin, the answer is, it will never too late for such individuals to invest with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is just getting warmed up!

Gold is all but worthless as a store of value in comparison.

The 10 trillion market cap in Gold will gradually move into BTC.

There's 500 trillion in bond debt looking for security. This will gradually move into BTC.

Very likely we will see BTC go to 100-500k this year.

BTC is the hardest most secure asset ever known to mankind..

It is not just a store of value but is also rapidly becoming a store of energy.

Just because the transaction fees go up doesn't mean that the popularity is losing, maybe that can affect the popularity I don't think that it will the lynchpin that will make the popularity of bitcoin go down. Not to mention that you don't gather enough data to justify the claim that it is losing popularity, testimonies from your friends is not enough evidence because there is no diversity in information and bias is a possibility.

I agree. Bitcoin actually didn't loosing its popularity but for me, it even more gaining some. These past few weeks, bitcoin experience a lot of ups and down because we all know that the BTC is a volatile coin as well as the other coins. But for me, gaining some popularity also affect the value of the bitcoin. If a coin, specifically BTC is popular, many people will urge to buy and market will definitely pump if there is a large of numbers that is buying a specific coin. But I guess others are not familliar with BTC because they are avoiding risky thing such as BTC.

If that is the measuring stick then by 2017, when the fees are so high, bitcoin should have fade away. But come to think about it, there are big blocks out there, and that is their selling point, but still people invest on the 'real BTC'. Perhaps his friends doesn't really understand what is the real cause of the transaction fees going up and what solutions are the dev's implementing like LN.

Not investing in the asset and losing popularity is different things, BTC is not losing popularity it has achieved its ATH just last week and everyone knows what it is and less people think that it is just criminal currency and sees it as legitimate investment. Maybe it is overvalued currently and people chose to wait.

You are underestimating BTC. I don't think it is losing popularity on the other hand I feel it is gaining popularity day by day even ordinary peoples also taking interest in Bitcoin. Mark my words it's not late yet if you have spare funds. After 2-3 years even you would say the same thing If you bought that time when Btc was 60K, You would be in good profit. If your planning is long-term then you can still buy but small investors are focusing on altcoins that are affordable to buy.
I can't say I disagree. Bitcoin has been posted everywhere, after breaking consecutively records, reaching new all-time high multiple times within a few months. Bitcoin is in the spotlight of cryptocurrency news, due to its high price levels that have been achieved during the last few months.

By the way, I may actually understand what you are saying the truth but the other round may seems to be untrue, basically, bitcoin adoption was meant for everyone, as time goes on, the ecosystem is starting to discovering that bitcoin would be the usage of rich investors, small investors finds it difficult to pay huge sum of $30 for a transaction of $15, isn't it insane. The painful part is that, more crypto users are not aware of electrum wallet where reduction of fee could be possible. The realistic is that, bitcoin would be used by whales and big investors.

If you say Bitcoin is losing popularity, it looks like you are not doing your research properly on Bitcoin. And just believe the words of your friends,
who are likely to experience losses when investing in Bitcoin and give negative opinions about Bitcoin. So my advice is not to be influenced by what
others say, do your own analysis and research, then the truth will emerge. Therefore, when I invest in cryptocurrency, I don't depend on other
people's opinions to determine the coins I want to buy. Actually it is enough to see the price movements in Bitcoin, it has proven that
the popularity of Bitcoin is increasing. Because the price of Bitcoin keeps going up.

People will of course prefer Altcoins for the reason prices matters but some investors convert their profits into Bitcoin rather than holding it all in Altcoins which is pretty risky compared to Bitcoin. I don't think Bitcoin is fading out and losing popularity because it is now the new play ground of some institutional investors.

Not all people! People with no money will prefer altcoins because they'll at least feel they have a share when they invest 100 dollars in some altcoin worth a few bucks. This isn't a smart move if you think about it.

What would you rather have? 1 gold coin or a whole bag of copper coins? Although you could say that the probability of those copper coins gaining value is the same as with that gold coin but gold is always easy to recognize and easy to value, like bitcoin. Everybody knows what bitcoin is but try to ask someone if they know what Waves is and how much it is worth. They'll have no clue.

They are just simply discourage not only on the fees but on the possible profits that they can multiply with their investment and thats why they do consider out
on investing with altcoin.I do highly disagree that bitcoin is losing or does fade out its popularity. If you do try to look at into its current price then you would definitely

There are so many people who is being FOMO or fear of missing out in which they are thinking that they are already late on the roller coaster ride of this bitcoin especially today that we are seeing that the bitcoin is very successful and stable on around $58,000 to $61,000 and many people is thinking that it is not worth it to buy bitcoin anymore today because of the high transactional fees which is really brought by the extensive pump of bitcoin but what I can suggest is if you are looking for a long-term investment then I could probably say that investing to bitcoin is more profitable in the long run.

I have opposite thinking about this. If you are new in crypto your first and long term investment should be in bitcoin. Even though the price of bitcoin is high, but in the long run the investment in bitcoin will be the most profitable one and safe too. If you can buy any other alt, you will not be sure if it will grow in the long run.

They had their chance, they didn't take it. They still have a chance, yet they are just complaining and whining how they missed the opportunity. Again there are those that missed the boat and are now just bashing crypto currencies in every possible way. It's just because they regret. Everyone still has their opportunity. Instead of investing in some random shitty altcoins, they can invest those money in bitcoin (no need to hold one whole bitcoin!) and make some good profit in the long run.

The password will let him unlock a small hard drive, known as an IronKey, which contains the private keys to a digital wallet that holds 7,002 Bitcoin. While the price of Bitcoin dropped sharply on Monday, it is still up more than 50 percent from just a month ago, when it passed its previous all-time high of around $20,000.
The problem is that Mr. Thomas years ago lost the paper where he wrote down the password for his IronKey, which gives users 10 guesses before it seizes up and encrypts its contents forever. He has since tried eight of his most commonly used password formulations — to no avail.

There's no such thing as "too late" in my opinion as long as Bitcoin's price continue to go up. Your friend just need to chill and don't buy when the price of Bitcoin is surging to avoid expensive transaction fee, simple as that. However, it's not as bad as well if he is going to invest as well to other Cryptocurrency like ETH, MONERO, or even LITECOIN or whatever he find promising in the long run.

What I only like about investing in Bitcoin is that it's high volatility makes a good profit in the long run.

With news like this, I don't think bitcoin is loosing interest:
When someone concludes that bitcoin is losing popularity, this isn't the first time that I've heard it. When they're too focus on the downside of bitcoin and the falling wedges, they're going to say what will satisfy them even if it takes bitcoin negatively with their words.

Quite the opposite with what's happening to me recently. I have several friends who came and asked for advice on whether or not it's still safe to buy bitcoin, or at what price should they buy to maximize their investment. They are eager to learn still and do not feel left out, however they are kinda regretting that they haven't started years ago when I first introduced them to bitcoin. The number of curious bystanders on bitcoin increased significantly these past few months. Though not all of them have the intention to buy, I think that still counts as an interest to them that contributes to bitcoin's popularity right now.

Those who think bitcoin is fading and losing popularity, I think because they feel it is too late to get involved in bitcoin which is currently high in price.
and what I know with the recent increase in bitcoin price has gone viral and become an unexpected phenomenon with prices beyond expectations of those who do not believe in bitcoin and feel sorry for the delay to get involved.
It is never too late to enter in a market which get more popular by day. It is best to get on it rather than standing on the side wishing you'd had got in. Like many people on here, there are plenty who regret no buying BTC when it was under 10K because it was thought that it was too high of a price. Look at BTC now! Sometimes we need to look at the history to help us make better decisions. This is one of those times.

I think it is never too late to buy Bitcoin, because the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise. Even if we buy Bitcoin for $ 58k, will still make a profit.
Because I believe the Bitcoin price will still go up even higher, especially if we HODL for several years, surely the resulting profit will be much greater.
Then I don't agree if it says Bitcoin is losing its popularity, because it's a wrong assumption. With many institutions starting to invest in Bitcoin
this year, then the bullish trend is still happening today. It all has proven that the popularity of Bitcoin is getting higher, so don't be influenced

Do you think it is too late for someone to invest in btc? Especially when it is not a huge sum?

According to data published by JPMorgan's strategists, the influx of Bitcoin retailers has exceeded institutional investment so far this quarter.

Retail investors have bought 187,000 BTC so far this quarter, compared to about 205,000 BTC in the last quarter. Over the same period, institutions purchased about 173,000 BTC, less than the nearly 307,000 BTC purchased in the last quarter. JPMorgan tracks Bitcoin futures, fund flows and company messages to collect this data.

The figures show that investor interest in Bitcoin is no longer dominated by Wall Street players, as it was last year. This, in my opinion, shows that the popularity of Bitcoin has not diminished.

We can't actually tell if they're already late on bullish until it drops. ATM, it doesn't change still resisting again to come back on ATH and it doesn't show any signs that it'll drop sooner or later so they still have chances for investing in BTC. Yes, they're left out on the bull run but there will be always an opportunity to earn. There are what-ifs in investments and add those knowledge about the market, anything can be possible. Imagine if bitcoin still rises until it reaches a hundred thousand, then it is still profitable for those who are late to invest. Actually, there are no late investors, maybe they just want to risk because it's a huge benefit if they hodl it longer. Bitcoin doesn't lose its popularity, there are plenty of people who're interested and still waiting for it to drop.

Those who think bitcoin is fading and losing popularity, I think because they feel it is too late to get involved in bitcoin which is currently high in price.
and what I know with the recent increase in bitcoin price has gone viral and become an unexpected phenomenon with prices beyond expectations of those who do not believe in bitcoin and feel sorry for the delay to get involved.
actually during the pandemic and the increase in the price of bitcoin, the popularity of bitcoin was increasing and there were lots of advertisements and good news or news about bitcoin on social media and so on, and made a lot of new people involved from various circles

You are totally wrong, if that is true, why there are too many institutions that invested in bitcoin, there are big and private companies that accept bitcoin.
Bitcoin is being popular and that is the reason bitcoin price now pumped so much because they know that this is a good potential for storing value. Maybe yes, bitcoin has been failed on the peer-to-peer transaction but in storing value people, will believe that they will get more profit upon holding bitcoin.
That is the fact here.
Well, the value of bitcoin will dismiss all such rumors, whether large individuals and companies will invest in a project that is losing popularity and is no longer interesting to investors, maybe people are smart enough and calculated enough to get the answers, we are looking to make money and of course, we will never invest in a project that has lost popularity. Some people's attention shifted to other crypto just because bitcoin has hit a big enough hit this year, chances are less for it than for other crypto but once it cools down, people will start flocking to it again

Well for long term holders and strong hands investing in bitcoin is never late, remember when bitcoin hit $20k people who didn't buy earlier refused to buy and said it has reached its peak after a while bitcoin hits $30k and Keeps moving till it hits $60k tho it has retraced a bit and soon expect more pump, big investors and companies never sees bitcoin being too late to invest because there are looking foward to  the future and not the present. Everyday people gets to know about bitcoin and its popularity is going worldwide which means more investors will keep coming in, this will make the population and popularity of bitcoin to keep increasing pushing its price to new Alth.

It’s always the same story that keeps repeating itself every time BTC reaches the new ATH, and trust me people were asking the same questions in 2015 when you could buy 1 BTC for less than $200 - but then it was considered expensive compared to the time when for the same amount one could buy 20 BTC or maybe 50 BTC.
I was exactly one of those fools that thought BTC was too expensive when I first heard about it. It was late 2013 or early 2014 (I can't remember when exactly) and BTC was ~800 USD. So naturally as many other noobs i thought that if I can't afford one whole BTC that I should at least buy some coins tha are cheaper so I can own a lot. So I ended up spending 100 USD on various shitcoins instead of buying BTC.

Few years later when I came back to crypto I didn't make the same mistake. Instead,  I started buying BTC, realizing that I don't have to own 1 BTC immediately, or ever for that matter. It was important to own any bitcoin.

I agree with it very much. It is never too late and it will never be too late for investing in Bitcoin. For example, I've found out that I could have been really a millionaire right now (no joke  Cheesy) if I pushed the right button. Of course I was demoralized after I realized it but I know that I can do that again in the future. So we should never think like 'this is the end'.

Ask anyone who bought any altcoin in 2017 and didn't sell it in 2017. They lost from 50% up to 98% of their money by bag holding.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be that way, because those who bought some altcoin at that time, and saved it to this day actually profited - for example ETH had its ATH in January 2018 ($1279), currently worth $1800. LTC on the other hand had its ATH on December 19, 2017 ($375) and is only worth $200 today. We can't even say that Doge holders did badly compared to 2017, the price literally went sky-high.

I think the situation is totally the opposite and the popularity of Bitcoin continues to increase. There could be many people who choose to invest in altcoins but it is also the same for Bitcoin. And maybe even the number of Bitcoin investors could be higher, I don't know.  Grin  We can understand how much popular Bitcoin is now from even the huge investments of big companies.

You have to look at where it might go in the future when people are saying it could hit 100K, 250K or even 500K per coin.  At 55K or even 60K per coin, that would be like getting into it when it first started.

Just because you don't own a full coin doesn't mean you can't be a part of it's incredible rise in value.  Buy it in fractions that you can afford.  You will profit in the long run.

People are trying to make some negative fundamental atmosphere these days. How can you say such thing, specially after you see many companies are still investing on bitcoin. Bitcoin is not fading out and it's not going to be fade out, at lest not at this time when people are greedy about buying bitcoins and there is huge demand in the market. You are making thinking like what because the price reached the ATH and some people are selling bitcoins but none will exit bitcoin here people will sell at ath price and they wait for a correction to buy even more bitcoins. It's not loosing popularity at all but gaining popularity.

What make you think that's really happening? in fact for the current rise of bitcoin many people got curious about how they can earn with bitcoins especially when they know how much it worth way back year 2009 up to the present. That's why we can see so many newbies got scam its because they are been hype up with bitcoins pressence and they think to earn more bigger if they invest on certain platform but unfortunately they've been scam by false advertisement about how things work with bitcoin.

If you will just ask an Average Joe regarding investing in Bitcoin then its normal that he will complain about the high transaction fees or he will say that "Bitcoin is very expensive at this moment" kinda thing.

In general, I don't see Bitcoin loosing popularity but its the opposite. I don't see investors exiting although I agree with what you said that there are "some" who are preferring to invest into altcoins rather than Bitcoin. Now to answer your question, it depends on your time frame. If you are willing to hold it then regardless of the price, you will buy but it would be better if you will just buy when it dipped or at least made a consolidation. If you will buy just for the short term then for me it is late.

I suggest that you and your friend must do Dollar Cost Averaging instead into Bitcoin and in some altcoins. Overall, I disagree with your subject title. Paypal and Visa (in the future) started to integrate Bitcoin into their system. Bitcoin will be introduced to millions of users of both of them. Its not loosing but gaining popularity Smiley.

People have been asking themselves the same questions for years now; "Am I too late to all this" "Is it worth it to invest now" so this is nothing new really. As a matter of fact I asked myself the same thing when I came back to crypto back in 2017, but luckily I realized that what I am thinking is nonsense and that is not too late a all to join this. Maybe we missed an opportunity to make millions with few hundreds of dollars, but still its not too late to get bitcoin.

Regarding the altcoins, again same thing; people getting into those dreaming about getting rich quick. Sure, some of them will make huge profits but majority will end up with way less than they would have if they bought bitcoin instead.

It is still too early to say that latecomers are already left out. I am thinking positively and hoping someday BTC could hit a million dollar each. If that happens then it's still too early to be left out when you buy at the current price of Bitcoin. Nothing is just impossible bout here, anything can happen, and there's room for growth. The fact that BTC dominance is still high is a proof Bitcoin is still a good choice for most people, new comers or the old holders.

What makes you think that the testimonies and opinion of your friends is enough to justify the fade out in popularity of bitcoin? Because the only time that it will matter is when you have around 100 million friends which is close to impossible if not impossible. There are a lot of countries and people that isn't reached by the digital tentacles of bitcoin so I think it is still too early to say that it is losing popularity considering that there aren't a lot of people that knows about bitcoin compared to global population, I think that it isn't even considered famous in the first place.

Where do these "many people" come from? Literally, no one that I know of exits crypto because they believe BTC already reached its fullest potential. Just because a guy said he is bored with crypto doesn't mean the rest of the world said so.

I think you're generalizing tbh. Just take a look at the news, more and more firms are coming to buy and stock Bitcoin for the future.

Not all investors are losing interest on bitcoin when its price is volatile in the market, if you are not devoted on its price and full potential to secure our future then probably you will not really become successful with it. That's the reason why some holders are courageous and patient about bitcoin and they are observing and watching its price 24/7 in the market.

Hoping that most of us do have that kind of mindset and never leaving bitcoin just because you are not having any progress along with it.

Bitcoin can really secure our future, believe me because this is the mindset that most of us have.

If your investment in the digital currency market is low, you should invest in Altcoins, but keep in mind that your shopping cart should be diverse and do not invest only in one of the digital currencies. Also consider this point: Keep in mind that Altcoins use erc20 technology and their transfer and transfer costs have recently increased significantly.
For example, I have to pay a fee of about $ 35 to transfer a GOLD token, which is much higher than the Bitcoin network fee.

many felt the same way in 2017 when the price is skyrocketing(at least that's what the people around me felt that's why they didn't invest at the time). so I am not surprised that there are people who feel its too late because of the current price.

Do you think it is too late for someone to invest in btc?
No, opportunities to invest always arise because of bitcoin's volatilities I suggest people who want to invest in bitcoin should take full advantage of it just like most(maybe all) traders do.

Especially when it is not a huge sum?
how much is "not a huge sum"? in all honesty, I think investing with a small amount is impractical at the moment but just like what I said opportunities arise because of how volatile bitcoin is.

many are looking to invest in other alt coins.
Another indication that 2017 is staring to be repeated.

When bitcoin bull run starts to grow there is always an increased number of newbies coming into bitcoin world. Then these newbies are being bombarded with a lot of altcoin scams that promise them riches, obviously these newbies who don't know any better buy into these scams and eventually end up losing a lot of money.
Ask anyone who bought any altcoin in 2017 and didn't sell it in 2017. They lost from 50% up to 98% of their money by bag holding.

Just think about why Tesla, MicroStrategy, and other big companies bought only Bitcoin for their balance sheet, why not some altcoins?
One of the reasons why those big companies choose Bitcoin is could because Bitcoin is already proven that can become a store of value and with inflation can be avoided as time goes by.

That's why owning Bitcoin even a small amount is very important to me. To be honest, my portfolio's most allocated size is on Bitcoin, some others are altcoins.

Man, it's like the mentality back in the old days where Bitcoin wasn't appreciated or valued, and people were just ignoring it. That thinking should really be avoided tbh, cause first and foremost, you can't really turn back time, so might as well live with what you have right now. Well, if the market isn't really for you, no ones really forcing you to join in, but Bitcoin isn't limited in being something you can trade, it can still be used to move funds without much limits (ones made by the government usually).

Now if you really want to join in the market, well buckle up and prepare for a long ride since even with its high price right now, I can still see people making profits like the ones they made back then, it just has to take some time.

As long as BTC is available in the market where you can buy $100 or less, its not too late. BTC is divisible. You don't even have to own 1BTC to invest in it. But yes your friend has an option to buy altcoins, its his choice. Almost everyone who are in crypto for years doesn't just have BTC on their wallets, they also have ETH and some altcoins they invest as sort of a gamble. Generally, they prefer to have BTC.

I disagree that bitcoin is fading out and losing popularity right now, every day there are big institutions buying up bitcoin and many more investors come to invest in bitcoin. Bitcoin is going strong day by day.

There can be various reasons why they think it is late for investing in bitcoin given the current price right now. Maybe they are afraid that events like the 2017 crash after the bull run might happen again. Investing in other crypto is not a bad decision either there are a lot of coins that have great potentials it really depends on their strategy. But for me, I think investing in bitcoin at this price is not a bad decision at all we just need to hit the right timing on buying.

What makes you think that Bitcoin is fading out! Bitcoin is getting more stable than before and more popular cause most investors are searching for the safest asset.
Only Newbies are invested in Altcoin cause they thought Altcoin is profitable and they are trying to catch an instant pump of Altcoin.
Most of them are returned to Bitcoin when they realized that instant pump or instant profit is not the main fact, the main fact is the safety of their investment. Bitcoin is not for weak hearted people or not for greedy poor people, Bitcoin is for those who have the patience for holding long term and planning to make a safe future by holding.

On the contrary, if bitcoin is losing its popularity, wouldn't the price goes to $60k? It should be around $10k by now, so that argument of yours is flawed.

And that mindset that bitcoin high fees and its not cheap right now has been debunked. There is LN, and if you invested on it just a year ago when the price goes down because of covid and then hold, you are in the profits right now. Just look at those investing on bitcoin right now, big companies, do you think they will throw billions on it because it is losing popularity?

Depends on your goal, Bitcoin though is being looked as long term investments.

Ethereum has also a high gas fees, so it's not just Bitcoin's issue. Of course, no one is stopping someone from investing in altcoins, but they are more riskier in my opinion. And Bitcoin's supplying is dwindling, but we have more demand because of institutions. So if you have to look at it, chances are the price are going to soar in the future.

What losing popularity you are talking about?
Where do you get that fata of people losing interest in Bitcoin?

AFAIK, the adoption is getting stronger and stronger everyday seeing those large institutional investors joining together I don't think there's a losing interest in that part. You may just have a complaint because of the high transaction fees because you don't know how to make the right decision of when to sell or send. It's just normal to see high transaction fees because Bitcoin is in bullish trend right now but if you could wait a little time that transaction fees will go down for a while, you just need some patience.

That he thinks it is too late for them and the price of Bitcoin is too high that these people can't afford to have it. I'd never find it wrong and that is their decision as well but this doesn't mean that they are totally leaving Bitcoin, they'll soon come back again and make some investment earlier so they won't miss the ATH.

There are a lot of potential altcoins and that is still a good investment. I'd just to hope that they can't be wrong of choosing altcoins so they won't regret it later.

But bitcoin fading out and losing popularity, I don't think so. It may be their perspective but for some it is not. Like those financial institutions, a lot of them are still buying large amounts of bitcoin. In time, when bitcoin will be higher than what it is now, some of these users that are saying it is too high to get in, will tell to themselves that they should have bought bitcoin when it was still 55k or 60k. Few years from now, if the OP will look back to this thread. More than likely, he already changes his views.

I am not sure about it. If this opinion only comes from certain people, it doesn't mean that it represents a large number. Except that there has been researching or vote on this subject.
In my opinion, Bitcoin is still a target for investment for those with small or large capital. And also use Bitcoin to take profits on a short-term basis.
But the problem is the timing is right for market correction so we'll know where Bitcoin is next.

Investing in altcoins seem more risky for me to wait for making a nice profit. Because we already know that Bitcoin is a very good choice for a long-term investment. But when it comes to altcoins, they are really as deep as a well. As for being late or not, I think it is not late for buying and actually we can't know when it is late or not accurately. For example, despite the price reaching very great levels, we see that big companies still prefer investing in it.

Just because a guy said he is bored with crypto doesn't mean the rest of the world said so.

I really did not say bored, i clearly stated that those who do not have a huge sum ( like the companies that are investing right now) are looking to other altcoins that they could still make something out of. Also Imagine having a small amount of btc only to have a fraction swallowed up in transaction fee. These are some of the discouragements that have faced some people i know that have moved to investing in other altcoins.

I would recommend investing in bitcoin if you are thinking of a long-term investment.
Any portfolio needs to have some bitcoin. Because missing out on the bitcoin revolution might be unfair after all, you're a crypto enthusiast.

While the price of bitcoin is ATH, the crypto market is optimistic and altcoins are ready to offer their attractive returns. I am interested in altcoins that are well supported by team, development and community. An altcoin with a solid team that complies with the development of its ecosystem is the best coin to invest.

It is really true that many people started changing their direction to the altcoins and searching ways for making good profits from them. Wherever I look, I see people who have invested in an altcoin which is said to have a big potential.  Grin  However, there are still people who choose to invest in BTC also. It is really hard to say that a person is late or not late at all for investing in BTC for now. Because we still don't know where we will see the price reaching the highest ATH.
