I dont know why, I just dont like the idea of using bank transfers for these things. Using a credit card feels much more secure, if the site goes under or something goes wrong then I have some protection. However, this is what causes most exchanges not to accept them I guess. Surely its not really any different to sending out goods sold via their site, they cant exactly turn up on a fraudsters doorstep and get their items back.
Thats how I look at it anyway

Coinbase is been having these type of issues for a few months already. You can buy at Cex.io if you have a 3D security card. If you are from the USA all banks have these type of security in their cards. Start with a small amount first and then you can go with bigger amounts. So far no issues reported when buying BTC from this site.

Personally i haven't tried them but there is one that accept credit cards , https://cex.io/buy-bitcoins
You can try them with small amount at first before buying in bulk.

Theres also that option for some countries if youre a Bitstamp user. If you want a bigger exchange with better spreads then you should give it a try. CEX is good but the price of BTC there is always higher than the industry average. Go check Bitstamp if buying BTC with CC is available in your country.

Hi, you could also try Coincorner as they also accept credit cards to buy some BTC. They will require you to provide and upload some documents for verification and will take a day or two for it to be processed. Please be aware that I'm not connected to Coincorner. I just wanted to give you some options out there. You could also try CEX.IO as I was able to buy from them in the past. The process is just the same with other exchanges and your BTC will available right away after your purchase.

Thanks for all your replies!

Yes well I went with Coinbase because I incorrectly thought that they were one of the best. Maybe they were and it stuck in my head from before.

So a quick update because two things have happened...

1) I decided to try Coinmama instead. Created my account, uploaded ID, added my CC and purchased. Verified by Visa came up telling me to wait on the page, the bank contacted me requesting confirmation using an authorization code and then my order on Coinmama went through perfectly!
Verified by Visa never came up at all for either card on Coinbase.

2) I received an email from Coinbase support, saying that they do not recognize my email address and telling me to reply using one from a list of options (A-E) before they will offer me support. I replied, stating that this was the email for my account, but have not heard anything since.
Should I be worried?

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here!

I have been trying to buy some BTC using my CC. Its hard to find somewhere to do this for obvious reasons, so decided to go with Coinbase since they are legit and concerned about handing my CC (and ID) out to random exchanges. My ID is accepted fine so its not that.

When I have tried making a purchase, it seems to go through ok but the status stays on "Pending". Then after sometime the transaction simply disappears and my "weekly limit for CC purchases" gets reset back to £500.

I have tried purchasing 5 times now, using 2 different Cards from 2 different banks!
Obviously this is completely legit, these are my cards and I have provided my ID, which they seem to have accepted fine.
I have tried sending them a support ticket, however, I get a message saying they are basically flooded with support requests and it will likely take a week to respond!

Is this a common problem with Coinbase?   Has anyone got any advice?   Can anyone recommend any good/legit exchangers that I can buy BTC with my CC?

Thanks in advance

First of all, congratulations on getting an account and posting here!

I haven't experienced any issues with Coinbase, your issue certainly seems very weird. Have you talked to your bank yet? It is likely that there is an issue perhaps with your credit card(but again, you said you tried with two different bank's cards).

Has any amount been deducted from your end from yoru credit card?

If yes, then request a chargeback asap, because the transactions have disappeared. If no, then all you can do right now is wait for Coinbase support and hope for the best.

i am suggesting you that the other way to buy bitcoin than buying bitcoin from coinbase. you can trying with localbitcoin for easy ways because i don't think that buying using your credit card is safe. but if you buy from local bitcoin, then i think there are many recommended seller around your city and you can contact them directly than you need to wait too long.

Coinbase have been having issue after issue come up for them.
It is normal to see issues on coinbase during large dump or pump in bitcoin price. When bitcoin price is dumping they will just don't let you buy cheap bitcoins and when price will start to pump hard they will not allow you to sell your bitcoins, because they want to be first in both buying cheap bitcoins and selling bitcoins on peak price.

Coinbase have been having issue after issue come up for them.
And their current customer base are leaving them in droves because of it and the increasement of their services fees (having to pay the tx fees which was given to their customers for fee of charge for the longest time!) all the sudden have put a shock into them still with them.
I wouldn't doubt them filing for bankruptcy soon and their exchange GDAX closing down soon from loss of interest and customers using them and their downward in capable services.

You may have not choosen the best place to buy your bitcoin, and surely not the best place to get a decent support. Coinbase is reputed to be horrible when it's time to provide support. You may take a look at others places such as Bitpanda, Coinmama, Cex.io, Bit.gift, Coinhouse, Paxfull, Localbitcoin, it may be more fast and more efficient for your needs. Don't think about using paypal, you will be charged at an outrageous rate

exchanges in China have been requested not to transfer BTC by government. Many people buy or sell out of exchanges.
Also want to know how to get BTC in better way.
