Got an email from them saying they disabled the withdrawals due to potential phishing treats.
It's possible to lift the ban writing to [email protected]

To hold too much fiat or too many bitcoins at any exchange is retarded. There is nothing to back you up.
The proposed strategy was and is to buy quickly, maybe during a, say, seven day window for some cost averaging, and withdraw all bitcoins as you buy them.

But of course, if you want to let greed (having money and bitcoins there for long so as to TRADE) guide your decisions...

Although I generally agree with the idea of avoiding holding large amounts long-term on the exchanges it's not really practical to keep the account empty if you want to be able to act quickly and make profitable trades when the situation arises. A wire transfer can take several days to get credited to your account at most places.

A better solution would be that we have exchanges that we can trust, and I do trust Bitstamp.

So does that mean they are running out of coins?  So why would the price be dropping when there is low supply?  Once all the idiots stop panic selling we will see a nice price jump.

For many people BTC withdrawals are not working on Bitstamp.
When I try to withdraw I get the same message as in this discussion

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1yfq19/can_not_withdraw_from_bitstamp/

No word from support.
