I am thinking about mining and was considering the btcguild pool. I signed up for an account and have configured my bfgminer to connect to the pool. So, aside from connecting hardware and starting to mine, I should be good to go.
Most people probably get hardware first but I wanted to ensure I could make the necessary connections before investing in equipment.
When looking at the BTCGuild setup instructions they only refer to Block Erupters. So, my noob question is, how are block erupters different from, say, the Antminer U2? Aside from the power and cooling, is there an advantage to using erupters versus antminers? Could you use the antimer u2 for the btcguild pool? If so, would the instructions for connection differ?
I know these might be more btcguild support questions but I can't seem to find any support outside the FAQ.
Sorry if I missed something obvious. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
No, it's the same connection, there is no difference. U2s have a higher hashrate than block erupters, use up more power and need more cooling.
