It happens on Brave browser too, but I don't think it's a bug. Just a simple refresh would do the job since it's some call to check if the image contains malicious code

With permission let me quote:

Not a bug. Certain bbcode tags are disabled when there's "sesc" in the URL, to prevent this from being leaked in the referrer header.

This was the incantation I was told.

Whenever you do something on the forum it's passed as arguments to one file (index.php). Look at any page (other than the title page) and you'll see it occurring after the document in the Web Address in the form variableName:value;

For example my current link is:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=post;quote=56842252;topic=5331210.0;num_replies=6;sesc=whatDidYouExpect

I assume the sesc links to the session cookie or something (the number you're assigned that your browser remembers when you login).

Header looks to be a function you can call from the command line and I assume that means it can be called by code in an image file if Theymos' filter has a breakdown.

(chanting something to keep bad spirits away)

Since ignorance is really keeping me company for as long as I can remember, I prayed to the appointed-one to give me wisdom, and he gave me an answer which gave birth to even more questions. But I am really grateful for giving me something I didn't have before, though mostly gibberish, it pointed me to the books of header and referrer. Thank you!

(By the way, for those like me who thinks this witchcraft is really powerful if there is any aside from me), I was able to contact them via ZoZoooM!!!

Edit: reply displays the image for me, quote doesn't...

You are right it is different when you quote and reply.
I am using microsoft edge as a browser.

Its back to normal now I guess:
Maybe the image was cache'd or something, who knows. Probably not a bug.

Got me excited and all. Haha, so this is the first that this came up? I can't believe I was the first to notice this. Or maybe others did but they knew it is not a bug. grrr

Firefox and brave are both doing it for me.

Your image is visible in the OP as I compose this - on the edit screen.

I'm guessing ip.bitcointalk.org got more aggressive and Theymos decided to drop the remove the image blocking on editing posts (if it's intentional).

Usually I see that when you are about to post a reply, you would not be seeing the image but the link instead with the message (image not displayed for . . . . reasons . . .) something like that.

then this happened.

I took a while to compose my post, it was longer but after reconsidering what could be "meritorious", I ended up just posting that which then gave me the error that I timedout, and I noticed the images are already visible.
