You can learn anything. It'll just take a long time to understand all the programming languages, transfer protocols, security issues and it is the truely special people that stick at it. A dice program can turn into a very complicated game - things like making sure the numbers are generated randomly is important and if you're integrating it with bitcoin it could turn into an expensive test if you lose money to hackers.

I'm currently working on a dice application as part of a computer science project in college.
It's written in python, and I've also put together build scripts (ansible) that will automate deployment. It's still very much a work in progress but it is my intention is to finish it within the next couple of months, so I can get a start on writing a great report on the work undertaken.
The website is up and running on the bitcoin test network and you can find it here: http://46.101.21.74:8000/
Please sign up and check it out, I've monitoring tools setup to help me find bottle necks in the code, and I will be checking the logs for any errors.

Long term I'd like to build this project again in Golang, and take a tests driven approach to make it rock solid.
