Well all the parts are on the way. I still might need a few minor things but I won’t know for sure until the parts get here and I start putting it together. Come on Fedex!
Looks pretty straight forward. Thanks for all the responses. Are all the power cables purchased separate that go from the psu to the components? Also it looks like there is a fan that goes on top the cpu in the video. I need to order one of those also right?
Good on all counts. A bigger PSU will come in handy if you decide to add more cards later on. Didn't see it mentioned but use a wired Internet connection when you are mining don't use Wi Fi.
I do have a wired internet connection.
One other thing I just thought of. I will need some kind of keyboard, monitor and mouse abviously to use this. It all just plugs right in right? Just like a regular PC.
yes get a piece of plywood and a few felt circles.. to keep board off the wood.

Ok I want to take a crack at GPU mining ZCash. I want to build with a single card and keep it as simple as possible so I don’t get in over my head right from the get go. Since I’ve never done anything like this before I need some help picking out the parts I don’t have. I bought a EVGA 1080ti SC2 currently in transit to my house along with this mother board.

I’d like to run windows since that is the only system I am familiar with. I figured intel for a cpu however I don’t really know which one for sure. Im still learning about the different specs. Then I still need the remaining parts.
PSU. I figured 1000w is overkill but I know it’s better to be bigger than smaller.
SSD 120GB?
RAM is 4GB enough?
Various cables.
Cryptocompare has a how to on building a ZCash miner that I was reading. They were talking about downloading the entire blockchain to mine or just going as part of a pool. I am assuming this is mining solo vs pool?

For a single card rig, OS is largely a matter of personal preference. (When mixing Nvidia and AMD GPUs, Windows tends to be less of a pain. On the other hand, when using a large number of AMD xor a large number of Nvidia GPUs, setup is often easier on most Linux distributions.)
Since you've already selected a motherboard, that will restrict your CPU options. For a dedicated rig, select a compatible Pentium processor. (Celerons are *usually* fine, but some mining software requires more CPU use than others.) A compatible i3 or higher will also work, but is unnecessary.
I would not recommend solo mining Zcash at this time, especially with a single 1080ti setup. The advantage of a [large] pool is a more stable stream of income. (I.e. rather than one block every few years, you get a few shares per hour and thus a payout from the pool every few days.)

Looks pretty solid to me. I wrote a little guide for a budget rig as well and the parts can be used if you wish to expand later on down the road. Hope this helps a little. 4gb is plenty and 120 SSD works fine can go smaller if you are just running windows but I like 120. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have had no issues with wifi at all over the past 6 months. As long as your connection is fine I dont see an issue with it.
