I never wanted to share this with the forum but i felts it would also help most of us here and also let people be more conscious with their phones or devices especially in this bull run.
No, it's good that you shared this story with us. I haven't thought much about that but from today I'll be more careful and I believe many people, who read this story, will be careful with their showy lifestyle and devices.

We don't even need this story to learn a lesson and be more careful when using our phones. I believe that smartphones have become an indispensable part of our daily lives and many people even value it more than many other things in life. It is not only a tool for entertainment or communication with people but many people also use it to store sensitive information and data so protecting it must almost always be ensured.

I was like what could be the problem or could it be that some people already gotten information about him to have come to rob him this way?
It could be a coincidence. Phone thefts are very common these days because many people carry expensive smartphones and there are some pawnshops that thieves use to sell stolen smartphones. I believe that this will be the case because I know many people who were a victim of phone theft and back then Bitcoin was not popular, many people had no idea about it and smartphones also weren't good enough to be able to save your coins there. But there is also a chance that your friend has a fake friend who befriends with other bad people and that's why they robbed him.

This is just a coincidence because even if the thief knew he was a bitcoin investor, I wonder how they could have accessed his phone to get that important data. Since most people have multiple layers of security turned on to protect their phones, I don't think it's easy for someone else to hack into their phones.

I don't know if Android phones are easy to jailbreak but for Apple devices like iPhones the chances of getting into the phone are almost zero without the password. That's why I usually prefer using iPhone over Android phone.

any online business or investment you are doing needs to be kept secret because it is not physical work, so you need to hide, especially if you are talking about bitcoin. You don't know who likes you and is looking for your secret so that he can harm you and gain access to your property, so we should always hide our things we are doing because we meet different people and you can't predict who will love you. Keeping your bitcoin in exchange will be a big risk, because you don't have your secret phrases and exchange can be a 100% sure that they will stay for ever. But when you stole it on a good wallet and keep your secret phrases hide that know one will get access of it. Is good to share to your love once about bitcoin to invest so that they won't be asking how I you getting money from, but you should just guide them on he he works by not telling them how much you have, on your wallet.
Some people failing to do this is the problem. If I ever did any online business, and I do not mean like bitcoin, bitcoin is definitely something I would hide 100% without a doubt but I mean like even a small ecommerce thing, like selling necklace or trinkets and such, the very simplistic idea of a business, I would still hide that as much as I can without putting anything further into it at all.

There is no reason to promote it to my surroundings, there are already like maximum of 100 people who know about me, so even if all of them know, what are they going to help me with? There won't be anything that would be putting that much into play here and I believe we shouldn't really be worried about it at all. I am pretty certain that the best way to move forward would be just focusing on hiding and making money without telling anyone you know. Promote the business, not yourself and you should be able to do a good job without a doubt.

Never tell others about your Bitcoin. Don't leave your Bitcoin in your smartphone when you go out from home and leave the seed safe in a place that only you will know. Don't store your coins in an exchange and moves your coins in separate wallets which you can fully control. While you are in public area, it is better not talk about Bitcoin or how many Bitcoin you have because that can attract bad people to know for more and rob you.

This case can happens if we are not aware with the situation and want to show off to all of our friends or families. We don't know who we can trust from them so we must be careful and only tells to some people about Bitcoin but don't tells the exact amount.

If your friend keep the credential of all of his accounts, maybe he can gets his account in the exchanges.

You are correct, any online business or investment you are doing needs to be kept secret because it is not physical work, so you need to hide, especially if you are talking about bitcoin. I was like what could be the problem or could it be that some people already gotten information about him to have come to rob him this way?
This easily speak to me that is a results of his showy lifestyles and if he is that calm or doesn't always show off about his bitcoin investment there wouldn't had been a day such incidents could had happened to him, or just imagine I came out with my phone i could have also lose my phone. The funny thing is that he doesn't leave his assets into a non custodial wallet, instead he keep saying that he preferred leaving his assets into exchange to enable him to trade when the market requires to trade or when their is a sharp buy or sell. But now, he lost everything; his phone, assets.
Well, he may not have actually lost everything as you said, he simply lost his phone and that's it.
If your friend has a lot of money and doing well as you made us believe, then he must be using a high end phone, which simply means that the phones security would be high or a top notch depending on the make and product.

If the above be the case, and the phone is locked when the robbers snatched the phone, they will have no access to the data contained inside the phone until the flash it, which permanently erases the data on the phone leaving the robbers with a brand new-like phone in terms of os and software, to access any of your friends private account on any platform or exchange, the robbers will need his login details which includes email address and password, and maybe a 2fa code which is a mandatory requirement for most top crypto exchanges this days.

So, for now, it's wrong to say or assume that your friend lost everything, he simply lost his phone, which he can get another and recover back his trading Funds and accounts.

But all the same, I get the message, which is that we all should be careful how we show ourselves or go out at night, thanks very much for the advice.

That's right, you have to careful as well with your hardware wallet and keep it on a place where it is not reachable by your kids, toddler or anyone that randomly comes to your house. Do not be so vocal about it because once you do, people's interest will be thrown to it and I've told that long time ago to my friends and then they have understood the importance of it. But the good thing with that experience is that the majority that I've told about owning a hardware wallet didn't even budged to start owning any amount of BTC.
Having intention to buy a hardware wallet and use it to store your bitcoin is good but you need some more things.

Buy it a right way.
Backup your wallet a right way.
Know how to recover your wallet from backup.

There is a high chance that your friend was just unlucky at that night, and also does your friends phone doesn't have a lock to prevent others from opening it?
Doesn't he know how to secure his phone so that even if he lose it others couldn't easily access or use it?
If he does he might just have lost his phone and secure his investment.

That is why you need to be lowkey with what your investments are. Even not in Bitcoin, you need to keep yourself away from the attention of the many because that's how they're getting the idea of what you do and how do you do. Having your assets on a mobile app is also a no-no. A big mistake that someone does that and that's why hardware wallets are important for which you can simply keep it in a place where it is secure and the next thing that you'll have to think of is on how you'll keep your seeds/private keys and those important stuff.
It's important to keep the hardware wallet and its private keys at home stored in a safe place nobody else has access in a frequent basis. It's not necessary to have a vault, but if the investor has a safe drawer it must be already enough. Also, it's important to make sure it's a clean and dried place in order to not damage the device along the time. Investors just have to take extra precautious if they have children around, since they are curious and want to play with every objects they find. On the other hand, for an investor who lives by himself it must be pretty easy to organize the safety of his financial gadgets such as hardware wallets without unexpected troubles.

The only advice I will give you is that bitcoin is like school you have to learn and understand some procedures of Bitcoin before you go into Bitcoin I know very well that investing in Bitcoin is all about your personal decision because it has to do with the advantages and the disadvantages because there is a time you will invest in Bitcoin and you will not make a profit you will experience a loss and there is also a certain time you will invest in Bitcoin you make a profit depend your carefulness and how curious you are to make a better profit both in Trading and the holding of Bitcoin

My phone is well protected, I share my location with people I trust, I don't carry around a lot of money and my phone wallet is backed at home, so I can move the money before they break into it. Also, It's not that much money to risk an attack. Not to mention that I have a pepper spray with me...

I agree with what you're saying about not becoming a target. When i the crowd you always want to be in the shadows. You don't want to flash the most expensive clothes, watch, phone, because there's always someone watching. They want you to stand out because that makes you look better than average, also makes you a better than average target for theft. It makes it look like you're worth watching. They want to know what car you drive, where your house is, how many people are with you.

Be aware of your surroundings. Street is a jungle and there are bigger predators than you living there.

This period, alot of bitcoiners are actually drawing attention to themselves without them being conscious of their actions. The social media space right now is filled with bitcoiners celebrating every price increase with posts and hashtags sending different signals to different people. We might have tried our best in protecting our wallets/coins from hackers, but physical theft of our devices and other belongings is still a loss to us. It is not security wise to engage in activities that will expose our identity. Security risks in bitcoin investment is not only limited to cyber theft, physical theft too is possible when people see us as potential targets.

Honestly, you have given good advice, and I believe this will serve as a good reminder. At this period, a lot of people don't pay much attention to providing more security for their wallets. Most people’s minds are only focused on ways to make money in this bull run by following signals and clicking on links they see on social media.Let’s not be too blinded by the desire to make money and forget to give attention to our wallets. Someone may actually make a lot of money, but at the end of the day, they might find their wallets empty. Let’s be aware that during this period, scammers may come up with different tactics to scam people. Therefore, it’s better to be careful with whatever we are doing in the cryptocurrency market and let try as much as possible that we don't expose ourselves that we have Bitcoin because attacks and come from any side either physically attacking or through internet.

A lot of people can not even hide how they feel because they want their life to be like testimony so that people will be able to follow their footsteps and it is actually very dangerous to tell people about what you are worth that why you see that some people will even become a target, it's good to share experience but at the same time you can also keep a lot of things to your self. And you see people posting a lot of things about what they are have and the rest, it is good to be happy with how the price of bitcoin is going and their is no way that people you won't be happy because the moment you start making profits the more you are happy because their is no genuine happiness than making money, the circumstance that their is no way that you won't make money from crypto only when you know the process and you can play by the rules.

Finally, they snatched your friend's phone and that does not mean they have automatic access to his exchange account. Your friend should have a security lock in his phone whereby if the phone is flashed, it will return to factory settings. Besides, your friend also has two-factor verification for login into the exchanges.
Yeah, i think this was just a case of robbers snatching the victims phone and it had nothing to do with crypto, as the op and some other people in the thread tend to believe. If the criminals wanted to steal crypto from him, they would not snatch the phone, they will rather abduct the victim and force him to send the crypto to them. This criminals will simply format that phone and sell it off.

I've asked the same thing previously, but OP doesn't reply. So yeah, it sounds unbelievable for someone who's been trading for a while to ignore every basic security protection exchanges give them. Then again I saw someone make stupid mistakes here and there even though they know it's bad practices, such as using a regular paper to back up their private key without any protection whatsoever, store back up on a cloud storage, etc.

Bull run or not, we need to be accountable with our own devices. Most especially if that is the source of our main funds, then it should be given the highest care. And as much as possible, be lowkey and avoid showing off because that will only give hints to the people around that you are having financial independence. Ensure your investment in a hardware wallet so that if anyone snatched your phone, your investment won’t be easily accessible at all. Be cautious and be responsible of your own investment safety.

Your advice is making sense but it is not derived from the story you narrated. In fact your story and the advice is not related and I could even say that the story is totally made up. Even if the story was to be true, anyone can be rubbed at night standing by the roadside whether a bitcoiner or not.

Secondly, your friend was not robbed because he decided to buy things with bitcoin profit for his girlfriend. It was a coincidence, even a farmer at that point could be robbed.

Bull run has started we need to be careful with our device

Keeping Bitcoin assets safe in a storage wallet by paying attention to the device used does not have to be during a bull run.
As long as we have bought Bitcoin from the beginning and stored it in a wallet, from that moment on and even before that we must first pay attention to the storage wallet that will be selected.
It is highly recommended for beginners to seriously study how to store Bitcoin properly and correctly before taking action to own Bitcoin.
It is our responsibility to keep our crypto assets safe from the public because as the price of Bitcoin keeps becoming expensive, their are scammers that are looking for opportunity to scam investors of their hard earned money. The have different ways they can go about it which does not only involved creating a fake link to lure us to click on it, cloning websites in order to steal our password and seed phrases, also creating fake tokens so when investors invest their money, they will rug pull the project. We need to be wise this time around so that we don't fall into any of these scamming attempts by scammers. We ought to be wise and stay focused without being greedy.

This particular period is when you hear all such story because of the massive joy and looseness that most Bitcoiners get over the fact that the bull market is spiking up and profits is pouring in but people forget this important quote which states " people can't kill or haunt what they actually don't know" although sometimes it's due to the carelessness of the Bitcoiner as maybe saving or keeping his asset in the wrong storage medium that would be easily access of paraventure something uncall for happens.

The run is here and bitcoin recent increase has spike up the space and has gain more attention than ever, so anyone who is trading or holding bitcoin should do that in a calm way without letting the next person knows about their holding. Most importantly do not always move out with your trading device be it smart phone, ipad, ipod or whatever the case maybe.

The bull run always comes with alot of scammers as they are hunting for victims that they can get as they are new to the industry. Protecting our wallets and coins is our responsibility therefore we can not be depending on exchange or other centralized platforms to protect our Bitcoin for us. Not bragging about our investment can help us alot because there are scammers and hackers looking for their next victim. A trader should have a trading office at home where he does all his trading so he does not have to move around with his trading devices. Not only will you save yourself the mistake of losing your device but you also protect your device from robbers. Alot of individual are suffering therefore the rate of crime is on the increase too so we have to be more careful..

Do you know that not only in bull run that we need to be extremely careful both in bear run or at all times we need to be watchful with our devices. The simple truth is that when going into bitcoin investment we should always take precautions of our devices and we should also have specific device to trade, specific device for mobility. Such as an easy going phone that could be dedicated only for calls or that can be accessible by anyone, this phone or device won't have important things that contains your private key, seedphrase, 2fa or even a logged in mail for security purposes. Those guys who came down to steal from your friend are people who seems to be long in doing that particular criminal activity.

If what the OP said then there is still a possible chance for the trader to be able to access it and need to tell the exchange about the knorology... it may take a long time to reopen the account including losing 2FA which is more difficult to reach and usually will be re-verified again.
I don't even recommend that people keep their 2fa authenticator app on the same device that they access their exchange with, so if op's authenticator app is in another device other than the stolen one, then they should be able to log into their exchange account and access their funds.
Therefore... until now not keeping a lot of assets on the exchange is more risky than safe... even the exchange can open your account at any time for no apparent reason.
Hardware is much more secure... I now use this to store BTC.
Centralized exchanges can confiscate your funds at anytime, the only wallet you should use is your self custodial, open source wallet.

Everything could be told more briefly, without various details that are of no interest to most of them.
Keep your funds in a safe place; do not use other people's Wi-Fi networks; block your gadgets; do not overload them with unnecessary applications; and be careful with the links you follow. It is best to buy yourself a hardware wallet; then there will be no need to use a mobile phone for storage.
The security of your gadgets is important not only during a bull run; I think the OP should understand this.
Yes I completely understand the whole the thing but I think giving details will tell how it goes than just saying something without how it happens, I don't think you will understand what I am passing through to the community, but with my explanation you have the basic knowledge of what I am saying so, maybe if I am to give expression next I wouldn't have to be this deep in explanation. Most times people often say especially trusted users always have this mindset of people cooking stories for merits purpose even though they meant what they are saying in context.

But now, he lost everything; his phone, assets.
Snatching of a phone can be normal with nothing related been informed about his cryptocurrency activities because the phone alone is an asset, and getting his phone is not enough for them to have access to ll his exchange wallets because most of them have external securities that require face ID, or even trading password, and some of them even have 2FA.

Meanwhile, I am not in support of an expensive lifestyle that involves showing off how well you are doing crypto, it is something digital not physical, you can have more than 10BTC and no one will know unless you tell them, showing off will exposure you to such acts that just happened as you have explained in this thread.

Quote
What i learned from that accident is that;
- At night we should always learn to keep our important device at home.
- Always store our assets in a non custodial wallet and keep seedphrase safe from same device.
- Always use phone that we do not attached our crypto trading apps.
- Move out important assets to other wallets instead of using that same phone or personal computer, which we have only access, keep our seedphrase out from same phone we are using.

The run is here and bitcoin recent increase has spike up the space and has gain more attention than ever, so anyone who is trading or holding bitcoin should do that in a calm way without letting the next person knows about their holding. Welcome the bull run!
That's a good observation. Non-custodial wallets are safer, but some people still keep their seed phrases and private keys in their phones or emails, which is very wrong.
Always exercise caution, avoid associating with people you don't trust, and never trust anyone with anything related to cryptocurrency.

I'm sorry if your friend not only lost his phone, but assets on an online exchange as well. To be honest, I don't quite understand how it happened, as there's usually a fingerprint and/or passcode lock on a smartphone these days, and once your phone is stolen, you just need to get to your laptop or something like that ASAP to change all passwords, block bank accounts etc. Still, in case of Bitcoin, I do agree it's better to be careful and to store BTC in a non-custodial wallet, without accessing it from the phone in general.

That scenario is also possible because as far as I know, there are some investors who only use smartphones as their sole means, they do not use laptops or any second device. In case they don't backup their data like emails, passwords, private keys...then when they lose their smartphone, it means they will lose everything. But in this case the thief won't be able to get any data back because as you said: most of us use passwords for our phones so that no one can get our data. That guy has a chance to get his assets back if he still remembers the email because he left his crypto assets on centralized exchanges.

When storing bitcoins, use a non-custodial wallet or preferably a hardware wallet and keep 1 or 2 backup copies of seedphrase in safe places.

Do you think that daylight makes a difference? Have a look at what happens in London at any time, there is a massive phone theft problem going on.

I think that everyone should take care of their smartphones security very seriously. It's very clumsy to use another smartphone for going out, a smartphone where you don't have access to trading apps and so on, I don't advocate for such a big fear but instead it's better to improve the security of device. Of course, if we live in a dangerous area or the crime rate has increased in our territory, we shouldn't keep Bitcoins in our wallet or maybe keep what we can afford to lose.

I always say that the security of your assets is very individual. What's safe for some people, won't be safe for others and what's recommended for others to do, might be an extra unnecessary headache for others.

By the way, the price of Bitcoin is going so high, everyone needs to be extra careful and no one should not vaunt the fact that they hold Bitcoin. For many people, it's not safe I guess but not showing off your wealth by buying a new car or clothes, is ridiculous to my mind.

It’s important to protect your crypto at all times, not just during a bull run. Obviously during a bull run though crypto becomes a hot topic & scam attempts are more common. Keep aware at all times, always be cautious. Do not click on or download any suspect files. Obviously make sure your coins are in self custody but it’s good practise to be extra cautious online any way. So be aware of phishing emails, stay smart.

Showing off conspicuous wealth especially if he always shows ownership of bitcoin assets is dangerous, other people can stalk you under any circumstances, when there is a chance the robber will act and stab you.

This means that there is always a saying - never put eggs in one basket - all of us know that keeping all assets in the exchange is dangerous, there is no security that can be accounted for unless you yourself bear the risk.

Keep assets in a secure hardwallet (including seedphrase).
Don't spread your wealth or coins around.
Agree with others do not use public wifi to trade.
Make sure it's all secure.

During this bullrun, there will be many crimes including on the internet or in the real world because everyone knows that the price of bitcoin is rising high.

@OP, I think it is a full robbery, this four kids who snatched the phone of your friend are probably professional snatchers, or it is their means of living.  They do not need any information about the person or its wealth if they wanted to steal something.  They will just grab whatever catches their attention for profit.  At least you and your friend are safe, and this experience should be a learning for everyone that as much as possible avoid using expensive cellphone when in the public places.

Aside from that, we should also be careful clicking links from the SMS messages especially when it is a message that we won something when we never even registered on the site.  Be cautious and vigilant when in public places, make sure that our expensive stuff are well hidden from the prying eyes of people who have wicked intentions.

If your friends funds was stored in an exchange and his phone was stolen, it does not mean he would lose his coins, the phone must be protected by a password, so the thieves would not be able to access the phone without formatting it and everything on the phone will be lost in that way. Now if your friend has his email address and password to the exchange he is using, he can log in and access his funds.

Take note that storing funds in an exchange is not recommended, you have to use a self custodial wallet and have back ups of your seed phrase safely stored, in order to recover the wallet whenever you need to.
If what the OP said then there is still a possible chance for the trader to be able to access it and need to tell the exchange about the knorology... it may take a long time to reopen the account including losing 2FA which is more difficult to reach and usually will be re-verified again.

Therefore... until now not keeping a lot of assets on the exchange is more risky than safe... even the exchange can open your account at any time for no apparent reason.
Hardware is much more secure... I now use this to store BTC.

I step out to meet with him where he said he was waiting for me, on the process since is late i had to go keep my phone knowing too well that is already late to use it at night, so while we moved out get all everything he needed to get from the mall, along the line we were waiting for taxi to board home while standing along the road, some boys (about 4) stopped from tricycle and snatched his phone from him and zoom off.

I was like what could be the problem or could it be that some people already gotten information about him to have come to rob him this way?
This easily speak to me that is a results of his showy lifestyles and if he is that calm or doesn't always show off about his bitcoin investment there wouldn't had been a day such incidents could had happened to him,

From my point of view it was not because of his showy lifestyles that cause it because those kind of incident can be possible especially at night and besides you had already said that you were not comfortable going out with your own phone since is already late at night which means that you have the idea that is not always safe at night and besides if it was because of his showy lifestyles they may not have only collected the phone they would have demanded for more, however for the security of his account he should try as much as possible to get new phone in other to change all the password of his accounts connected to that phone including email so that they would be blocked from doing anything to his account.

Dunno, but it sounds like a made up story for me.

Robberies doesn't care with bull run, they will steal anything when they have a chance for that.

From the stories, @OP friend is very stupid when he has a girlfriend, has a showy lifestyle, and want to buy something a thing in mall. A rich person can't be so that stupid, especially a trader, he should at least know about second verification.

The simple security measures we maintained during the bear market is no different from this bull market. The whole tips has and will always remain the same irrespective to the market conditions, political landscape, economic situation and all.
They are
- Centralized exchanges remain a dangerous place to keep you Bitcoins. They cannot be trusted.
- Your seed phrase is the key to your kingdom (Bitcoin). If you give it away you lose everything you have worked hard to acquire.
- Don't trust, verify.
- Don't use a public WiFi for any transaction.

These are some of the basics that apply all round.

And the best of them all - be humble about your holdings!
Who knows what people would think to do when they know on what bags you are sitting..

I feel for your friend but he might not loose his asset, just only his phone. This is because his exchange app would not easily be accessed if it is signed out. If he has 2FA authentication, then it will be very difficult for the thieves to access his exchange. If I was him, I will just look for any android phone around and try login to my exchange account with a wrong password till my account will be locked for 24hrs by the exchange making it difficult for anyone to withdraw funds. After that I will go and reset my email password attached to exchange account, so that I can change my exchange password. It's not good to show off with your crypto wealth.

Yeah, if OP's friend didn't use the measures provided for him before the trouble - his loss.
Everybody else should learn from his mistakes and be better. Securing themselves better.

The funny thing is that he doesn't leave his assets into a non custodial wallet, instead he keep saying that he preferred leaving his assets into exchange to enable him to trade when the market requires to trade or when their is a sharp buy or sell. But now, he lost everything; his phone, assets.
So he doesn't turn on PIN, fingerprint lock, 2FA, or any form of protection provided by his exchanges/phone at all? Has he tried to contact the exchange after that? That sounds weird. If he's an experienced trader he should know most of those security features. I guess you should look for a better mentor who also teaches you about basic crypto security practices. I'm pretty sure even some random trader knows that not using fingerprint/PIN lock or 2FA in your device is a terrible idea.

Yeah, and we are not talking about using CEXes as a whole, but that's the story for another time.
If you have a security measure - use it, it won't be wrong to have another one piled up on top of another one.

Never will I ever understand why somebody would be so showy.  What is the point?  Nobody cares.  Really, nobody cares!  If tomorrow you are broke, even less people will care about you.  In fact.  I really believe that the most enemies you make are during the road to your success. Once there is no success, there are no enemies to make any more.

If your friend was not this showy, there would be no suspicion about whether the guys who mugged him off knew about his Bitcoin holdings or it was a pure coincidence.  If I was mugged off my phone by somebody who knew of my Bitcoin holdings, I would be EXTREMELY precautious and afraid for my Safety.  Particularly because you have no idea what these guys are up to.  And if they can not get any thing out of your phone but they were mugging you for your Bitcoin, they could return for worse.

But maybe it was pure coincidence and your friend is actually safe now.  It could be simply a small lesson to learn.  In fact, I do not understand one thing from your Post.  How have the robbers got access to the Assets considering your friend was not holding their Cryptocurrencies in a Non Custodial Wallet but instead on an Exchange?  Do the robbers have access to his Exchange now and your friend has none?

The run is here and bitcoin recent increase has spike up the space and has gain more attention than ever, so anyone who is trading or holding bitcoin should do that in a calm way without letting the next person knows about their holding. Most importantly do not always move out with your trading device be it smart phone, ipad, ipod or whatever the case maybe.

Welcome the bull run!

Criminals are always on the lookout for soft targets anytime. You have to understand your environment and ensure that you are security-conscious at all times. If you live in a country where there is a high rate of crime, then you shouldn't use your phone in public at night. People who fluent their wealth are also targeted by these criminals. Nobody in the neighbourhood knows that I am involved in cryptocurrencies because there is an assumption that Bitcoiners are rich. I don't also stay late at night except I am using a personal car or a booked cab. The economic problems in some countries have led to an increase in crime, and there is a need to be security-minded at all times.

What i learned from that accident is that;
- At night we should always learn to keep our important device at home.

When we are living in an environment, then we should as much to know the kind of environment it is, the types of people in such vicinity, the whether condition as well as the surveillance required from us before living in such a place.

We also have to maintain a kind of modest lifestyle whereby we don't go out unnecessarily, especially at night and if we must do so, it has to be on either an emergency or an important issue arising, this is why we should always have our asset private keys backup in a more secured place, if they stole the phone, they haven't done anything yet because you're more smarter than them by having a back up to your bitcoin.

It increases security risk on your devices, wallets and your life safety can be damaged too.
Now more than ever is the time to be more security conscious because you as an investor in something whose value is increasing means you are at risk of being attacked by scammers who will like to take what you have and turn it to theirs. Scammers do not DCA or have any plans to invest, their overall plan is to steal from someone, you have to make sure it is not you that fall victim to them. It will be very painful to loose the investment yo have in this period.

Never have been one to flaunt wealth thus my love for privacy.
No matter how secured you protect your funds if you let people know your source of wealth and amount
There's a likelihood of been attacked and worse case cost a life.
Well what's really rampant during Bull market is the increase in scams
But security and privacy should be given priority even in Bears.

2 FA could help and if I'm not mistaken your friends phone should be locked
How were they able to gain access to the phone?
Since it's on CEX even if they were able to gain access before anything he should have had the time to move the coins to other wallets.

The world is a dangerous place. Even if the robbers were aware or not about your friend’s financial status, his phone alone could be a great asset already. They could just easily reset the phone and sell it but thanks to the irresponsibility of your friend, they might just have landed in a (digital) gold mine.

Though if they are amateurs and not exactly technologically advanced, maybe his funds will be safe. But I am not sure if he can have it back anymore. If you know you are handling sensitive information and is holding assets in your phone, take extra precautions. This will serve a big lesson to him and to all of us.

I never wanted to share this with the forum but i felts it would also help most of us here and also let people be more conscious with their phones or devices especially in this bull run.
You always need to be careful with your device and wallets, not only in bull run. If you lose 1 bitcoin, in either bull market or bear market, it's the same, 1 bitcoin = 1 bitcoin.

Don't underestimate your loss in a bear market or overestimate your loss in a bull market.

Be OPSEC and secure your devices, wallets, with good habits when using your devices and are on Internet as well as trying to keep your low profile. Your investment in bitcoin need to be in secret and private mode too. Don't try to be noisy and inform others that you are a Bitcoin investor.

It increases security risk on your devices, wallets and your life safety can be damaged too.

Yesterday night i was walking with my friend who happens to have invested in bitcoin and also he is a bitcoin trader, though i took him as my guider whom i am following gradually to know how to trade and understand how the cryptocurrency market works. Even though here is more greener for bitcoin related discussions but i didn't have that satisfying urge to follow up here rather i love someone whom i will be seeing face to face and how he is doing it practically to enable me follow up his steps.

Last night he called me on phone to come accompany him to the nearest mall that he wanna get some things for his girlfriend that he made some profits with recent bitcoin increase and he is living a very open life, which i don't support such acts and of his showy lifestyle. When he called, I step out to meet with him where he said he was waiting for me, on the process since is late i had to go keep my phone knowing too well that is already late to use it at night, so while we moved out get all everything he needed to get from the mall, along the line we were waiting for taxi to board home while standing along the road, some boys (about 4) stopped from tricycle and snatched his phone from him and zoom off.
