I haven't heard of Buttercoin either, but I would suggest checking Circle out.  I have used Coinbase, and Circle is much easier and faster.

Circle charged me a cash advance fee when buying with a credit card, so I will never use them again. I have not had this problem buying bitcoins with a credit card from Trucoin, so I will stick with them for such purchases in the future.

my vote is for coinbase
just because it is a old and established company with good track record in past
never heard about buttercoin before, so its totally new to me same like putting our money in someone else pocket that we don't know about

I just heard about ButterCoin - with next day deposits to our Bank Account and until the end of the year no fees.

Still, which does everyone prefer?

buttercoin

coinbase

something else?  and what is that something else?

Thanks.

I have been using coinbase for months...but when selling btc waiting 4 days to get my loot is abit long.  Buttercoin is next day for us in the USA...and that is a real plus in my book.

From what I have read, Buttercoin is financially backed by "Google Ventures".  I checked the Google Ventures site and saw that Buttercoin was mentioned...along with "Gyft" in the same category.

I agree that the company name sounds more like an alt-coin than an exchange.

I'll give them a try with a small amount of btc to see how well they perform.

thanks to all who replied.

This is the first time I am hearing about ButterCoin, sounds more to me like another alt-coin than an exchange. But I would choose Coinbase if I were to choose between those 2.

Coinbase is an established firm in the San Francisco (US) area, they have a presence in Silicon Valley. To me that gives them credibility.
