I have a 100% failure rate on all my Butterfly power supplies.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
Clattered in the box ... the thing is probably flown in the box. I have to now buy a good power supply ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
They have a warranty on them.
So you can get a replacement for free.
Since we all know the quality of these bad boys, I would put it somewhere that is flammable though. Smiley

I remember reading that BFL claimed only 1% defective/RMAs.
I have had an ASIC on one of the singles blow up.
Also 5 or 6 power supplies too.

I love the fact that each time I get a new one from them it has a new colored led!

Pretty much all the failures I have run into have been power supply related. Did have one USB failure that was caused by someone shoving something into the USB port, but I don't think that is BFL's issue.

Overall the HW has been excellent, just the power supplies that are junk.

With active PFC it's even worse - the big cap fails followed by huge voltage spikes and a shorted transistor (followed by the circuit breaker tripping).

Power plug is not a typical IEC connector
It is standard though - the plug is C5 and the socket is C6. These are very common in laptop power supplies.

So, I guess I will replace the caps with good quality ones in my BFL PSU (I am not using it currently, it is more of a backup or if I ever need a 13V PSU).

I dont know anything about circuit boards and how things are assembled.

But, I`m not surprised to see a BFL power supply being crap, since peoples complaints earlier years in Jalapenos 5ghz being blown or fried.

It shows how the quality of everything really is with BFL`s overall image.

Interesting. Where was the blown cap on the board? I'm wondering if it's a PFC modulating cap and the reason it doesn't blow up devices is because it goes to ground instead of neutral (on the jalapeno it goes to neutral which is beyond bad when run on 240 volt lines)

I have one myself, it's not as good as a Corsair power supply, but it's not too bad overall. Warmer than it should be though, less efficient than a Corsair 500 (which can power two singles)

The power supply has an incredibly poor quality ...
I got the hardware in September 2013 by Butterfly.
And the end of February 2014, explodes the power supply.
A capacitor has burst. As soon as you build, I noticed: Power plug is not a typical IEC connector, slide switch from 110v to 230 v switch when almost fell for ....
The switch has fixing holes, but is not screwed to the case.
The quality for nearly 3000 € Is incredibly bad.
The device itself is running without problems, the power supply is scrap and could burn down my home, luckily I have a good Elec.-House-fuse.
