Thanks to everyone who's purchased coffee from BitBrew so far. This might turn into a profitable venture after all!

The last of this week's beans will begin roasting in about an hour, so anyone who wants to place a last minute order should do it now. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for Monday's batch.

Excellent brew with these beans! There is no comparison between Bit-Brew's superior beans and a coffee shop's beans. Though it will take awhile to finish 6 bags of beans, I will be back and hopefully you'll still be roasting.

Wow, got online today to see BTC trading at $17+. Wasn't expecting that so soon.

Prices slashed yet again!

(Won't do it again unless BTC falls below $12 or rises above $20.)

Well, that didn't take long.

New prices.

Due to the recent rise in value of bitcoins, I've reduced prices at BitBrew. I've chosen not to slave prices to whatever the current exchange rate is in order to do my part in stabilizing the economy and so that past customers won't feel like they overpaid simply because they didn't wait one more day before buying. I will, of course, respond to huge fluctuations like this last one.

Don't forget to check out our new coffees!

That's pretty awesome. Bitcoins will be much more difficult to stabilize until it's used itself as a currency and not tied to the price of the day against USD/Euro/etc.

Received coffee from edd today. Swiss Chocolate Almond is absurdly aromatic. The ones I ordered were shipped in very high-quality bags with an airlock right on them. Coffee tastes excellent.

Since so many people have been asking where BitBrew ships from and how fresh the beans are, I've added an About Page to the site. Here it is:

Quote
BitBrew was launched in May 2011 with the lofty goal of providing high quality coffee exclusively in exchange for bitcoins in order to do its share of sustaining a viable economy with the controversial crypto-currency. As of yet, BitBrew is run solely by one individual (me) known as “edd” at the Bitcoin.org forums and elsewhere. Located in San Antonio, Texas, BitBrew gets its coffee from a local roaster and ships anywhere within the contiguous 48 United States at no additional charge. Beans are usually roasted on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and shipped out the next day, with delivery time varying according to the distance your order must travel.

For example, Ian's order was placed on Thursday, so his beans will be roasted on Monday and shipped out on Tuesday to ensure the freshest possible product.

Of course, if sales skyrocket, I may be able to persuade my roaster to work everyday.  Wink

New roaster means new inventory!

Local roaster means fresher coffee!

Professional roaster means wider selection!

Only 24 hours in a day means I haven't gotten around to adding everything to the site yet, but I will.

edd, I'm likely to order from you if you start offering Ethiopian coffee or something with a similar flavor.

I'll be expanding my selection very shortly. I found a local roaster and I hear good things about them. Expect a lot of activiy at the site over the next few days.

The login box was indeed superfluous, so it's gone. Does the sidebar being on the left really matter?

Not so much, just confuses me. I kept looking to the right and realizing it was on the left. Could just be the alcohol  Wink

Now you just need to mix in some of that alcohol with coffee  Wink

Always do  Grin Get a fair portion of alcohol, coffee, nutmeg, and cheese before I go to bed for the most interesting dreams.

Bookmarked. Thanks for sharing and taking part in the BTC market.

+1 on whole bean request -- I'll make a purchase once they arrive. Also think you should remove the login box and move at least the cart display to the right where it (almost?) always is. Otherwise, site design is very slick. Good luck!

I like the idea, and may order from you soon but just as a suggestion I think you need to make your page a little more appealing. Put some pictures of tasty ground coffee beans, explain the flavor of the specific bean... something right away to at least give me an idea of what I'm buying.

Suggestions implemented!

I'll continue to tweak the site as time permits.

It's nice to have a new coffee merchant, the old one had an attitude.

Yeah, I hear too much coffee can do that to some people.

I'm dying, that was great.

Where did it come from?

Someone linked to it at BTCBubble and I stole it. Wink

Do you sell any whole beans? I rather grind them at home.

Coming soon!

The huge jump in BTC/USD exchange wasn't the only factor. I'm actually taking a loss right now, but I have several reasons for doing so:

  • I'm trying to build a solid customer base and figure cheap prices for premium goods is one way to do it.
  • I'm optimistic that the bitcoins I receive will continue to increase in value.
  • I figure it's better PR to adjust prices as rarely as possible and this should give me some time before it's necessary to do it again (but I wouldn't mind continuous BTC growth!).

Amazing to cut prices so deep so fast! This Bitcoin thing is crazy. It's nice to have a new coffee merchant, the old one had an attitude.

A small problem was experienced today during a very short window of time which may have caused an order confirmation email to get lost. If you did not receive a confirmation email for your order, please send me a message via our contact page so that you may track and confirm your order.

Thanks and I promise not to bump my own thread anymore.

This volatile market sure makes it difficult for a merchant to stay competitive.  Grin
