Well for me i have been hodling my portfolios,i had a signal prices were about to drop so i sold off some of my portfolios and waiting to buy the dip again. The extreme price volatility is what makes this whole venture risky but usually with patience you will reap some cool profits. In any case, it wont be a bad idea to consider moving a certain percentage of your portfolios to traditional stocks and bonds.

I am holding my positions for now in bitcoin and alt coins, the bottom seems to be in at $9000 for Bitcoin. Technical analysis is not an exact science with exact predictions, we could crash right through and fall to $7 to $8K. In retrospect it appears that the big BTC whales have shorted in size via the futures markets to hedge their gains.

I am still bullish crypto long term and see no reason to get shaken out of positions due to FUD. My answer mirrors others. If you have a lot of money in crypto already you can hold your positions. If you have tiny positions because you were too timid or just were sleeping during the powerful crypto rally of 2015 to 2017, then maybe now you can start dollar cost averaging in and building your positions in quality coins.

I'm a hodl type guy and i am in love with the Onion Product and process so i'm buying more and more as the price drops but let me ask this, How many people here are concerned with the markets drop and the bottoming out of the price on almost every coin out there? Is it time to consider more traditional investment portfolio options like stocks and bonds?  If you only have a small amount to put in, where do you experts suggests for long term gains.

Like i said i am in a holding pattern because i feel this is just a start. If nothing else its time to stock up and say you got it at the cheapest point in the year.
What say you?
By holding coins for long term is a good idea and buying while it is in dip price movement, all coins and altcoin are based on the price of bitcoin. Have you noticed that when bitcoin is dump altcoins also followed, well, deep onion i think have a potential by long term holding but as what i have said it is depends upon on bitcoin movement so i must prefer holding on bitcoin too aside from cheap altcoins.
This time is the great opportunity to invest more and more coins and hold in long term and i'm pretty assure that profit will follow.

I would suggest you to buy the dips because I am doing the same thing. I am constantly buying the alts which I was invested in at lower prices. But it's your decision whether you want to cash out or just keep on buying more at the cheapest price you get.

We all know that digital currencies are volatile so the best way to earn some profit by holding it is to buy at a cheaper price then wait for pruce pump that may happen in the later months. Most of the digital currencies are at dump so it is better to just hold it for now.
While you wait, you can invest on good ICOs or new altcoins since some of them are really good and will give you profit in the mean time trading them.

When everyone is in fear go buy more, right now is the best time to buy more. Bitcoin are still at a dump price and possibly go higher on February.
Think in long term goal because those who believe every time the market dumps, they really make good money.

Apparently today’s drop is due to Facebook banning cryptocurrency advertisements and South Korea implementing tougher regulations on cryptocurrency exchanges. These are both negative news and could scare away some investors. I don’t think either of these will have a long term affect, but it can slow the recovery from the correction we are in.

You are on the right path, most coins are on the discount time right now, but it will recover after some point even though it takes weeks or months to reach new ATH. I don't interested in onion products, but let consider bitcoin as the benchmark for altcoins as the market reacts based on bitcoin price. If bitcoin gains more value in February or March, altcoins will follow to increase as well. it doesn't matter as you are "hodl type guy". Just keep buying at cheaper price and hold for a long-term, it will profitable in the end of the day obviously.

Depending on which coin we are involved in and buying even more on dips is really a good step but only to the coins which do have potential. This kind of step is not applicable on any altcoins that do dip  its price. I agree on the fact that this is only applicable to day traders which they do really hesitate on buying on bearish trend. Holders do always have the advantage but in terms of profitability it would be much lesser as expected. I would suggest you to buy the dips because I am doing the same thing. I am constantly buying the alts which I was invested in at lower prices. But it's your decision whether you want to cash out or just keep on buying more at the cheapest price you get.
To answer this question, it really depends on the amount of money you have right now. If you have a lot of money and if you are a rich man, then add Bitcoin, buy and collect Bitcoin is something that is not hard for you. Keep buying and collect as much Bitcoin as you can if you can. But if you already have a lot of Bitcoin in your wallet, and you do not want to add anymore, then it does not matter. But do not rush to sell and keep as long as possible. Sell when you need money alone, If you still have lots of money saved, do not sell. I would never stop collect Bitcoin myself. That's because I'm a middle-class person who's trying to take advantage of Bitcoin to improve my family's economy. So I will collect as much as possible.

I agree with that we must buy in the cheapest price at the moment because that is the only we can afford to buy and you can even sell it if you think that is the right price and you will noticed that you have gain at least 20 to 30% from your investment.

I have the same strategy, i always buy at a lower price and hold for good. No matter what the price of bitcoin now I still make profit because I believe on this months ago. Its a matter of time to make money, and buying at dip always pays the best interest, buy more.

That's why its better to diversify. When I say diversify, go for other options like stocks or mutual funds or bonds. So I say its better if you have that in your portfolio. Its really cause a concern seeing the market going into another bloodbath. Its been more than a month now since we are crypto winter and its somewhat frustrating that we are going in this direction.

Like i said i am in a holding pattern because i feel this is just a start. If nothing else its time to stock up and say you got it at the cheapest point in the year.

Just go with the flow. If you have extra funds then its better to buy at this dip and stock up more and jus hold long term. Nothing beat that strategy if you are really for the long haul.

Since you mentioned that you like to buy and hold then buy more. Many people are afraid to buy when it is on a bearish trend, I can understand that strategy from day traders but for long time holders definitely this is our time to go shopping. As Warren Buffett said  "Be fearful when others are Greedy and be Greedy when other are fearful. "
