As we noticed the price volatility of Bitcoin when it reached ($13k, the highest price for this year at the moment) and then suddenly the price drops at $9k.

And today bitcoin price is about $9,900. So I'm just wondering 🤔 is it now the great time to buy bitcoin or should I sell? Can you give me some of your opinions? Thanks in advance. 😁
Everything depends on your goal and target, if your goal is to make money off bitcoin in a short term, then you can sell straight away but if your goal is to stay with bitcoin for a long term and witness more increase in the value, then you would not be making the wrong decision because I must tell you that bitcoin value still has lots of great increase to make.

whatever figure you see now, is just a shadow of what bitcoin value will really be in future, and when I talk of future, I am not talking of 1 or 2 years, I am talking of 10 years and more, even before tat 10 years, you would have been thankful for making the decision because I am sure that within the next 10 years, bitcoin might have increased to $100k, and no matter the bear market then, it will never go below $50k.

That had to be expected

Contrary to popular belief, the price at higher levels becomes too unstable (read, mostly unsustainable) which leads to extreme volatility. And what we all witnessed recently is described by this assumption perfectly (you can even call it a theory). Regarding your question specifically, no one can answer it but you yourself

With that said, since you can always sell higher and buy lower, any price is good for selling and buying alike. If you need cash, you can sell using small increments (say, 1%), then you can buy back if the price tanks later. In fact, you can even make a living on trading the spread of your preference (10% spread should do just fine for starters)

If you bought Bitcoin at around $13k then it is not a good idea to sell, better to wait until the price recover and then I think that is the time to think to exit and get even or have more patience and take profit.  Selling it at a lost is a very bad idea besides, if you hold it you have not lost anything yet even if the price plummet.

This recent increase in price of Bitcoin, breaking the $10k barrier would have answered your question to buy.  If you do buy then you should be in profit now, though I think it is not late to buy and hold Bitcoin because it is speculated that it can increase upto $100k  or more.

You gave him some good advises for short term trades, what he should do in upcoming months. If he really wish to trade he will need to learn to do it by himself, how to recognize good opportunity for buying or selling. Each of us have some opinion about possible price movements, where we gather informations, how we process those informations is what makes all of us different.
All advises for buying are worthless when it comes to investing and just holding bitcoin. Who plans to hold for years should buy when ever he have a good opportunity to buy with the lowest possible fees, to choose a good wallet and just wait for the future to come.

Are you sure you want to read some opinions? You might be more confused about what to do. Smiley

Take note of the price low after every big pump. Put that price as your reference and consider that as a bottom. Now study the weekly chart from there and slowly analyzed what could be the best price to be considered a good time to make a buying.

If you believe in Bitcoin and you are planning to let it sleep for a long time, take this time now as an opportunity to buy. It's good to always have bitcoin on-hand no matter the scenario is.

It's a tough question, even the good "analists" have difficulty to predict BTC

I always follow the trends and I've been doing a great job increasing my ammount in BTC

I believe we are in a good trend, with a rise in price at least until 13k again, so I won't sell any coin, I'm holding and following the market

A few days back, when the Bitcoin price was below $10K per coin, it was an ideal opportunity for the new entrants to get their hands on some Bitcoin. But the prices are moving too fast, and during the last 48 hours, the exchange rates have appreciated by 15%, climbing from $9,500 per coin to $10,800 per coin. The bitcoin dominance has also increased to 66.3%.

i believe this low volume bottom and relief rally were driven by margin longs trying to paint a bottom and accumulate positions for the next leg up past $13.8k. long/short ratio is extremely high on both bitfinex and bitmex.

sellers aren't stepping in yet but the reality is there is huge resistance all the way up to $13k now from the two failures in june and july. july was the biggest monthly volume exchange seen since the 2018 bubble pop, which means sellers are waiting in the wings. so price won't keep floating upwards on zero volume like it has been in the $10ks.

we could keep meandering upwards into the $11000s, maybe even the $12000s, over the next week or two. but my gut feeling is this will get hammered down hard again and price will keep correcting sideways/down until sometime next month.

Firstly you should have enough knowledge about bitcoin market for analysis deeply & then you can properly understand that which time is good for buy & sell.

You should have bought yesterday because today it was pumping now and you have already lose a chance .but ofcourse we the price today is still cheap compared to the speculative amount of more than the highest value of 2017

I guess it drops again to $10,800 according to Coinmarketcap and may drop some more if the volatility wants it to, but we can always assume that it can still pump without a warning because we are in the midst of the bull market, And even with dips like this it is still good because it can certainly pull back up again,

And for the OP I think he needs to make your own decisions it is likely good to buy on a drop on price and to sell when the price pumps, but it is unlikely to still your feels if you would consider the movement of Bitcoin, then do it in your own accords.

I just wondering too, what your intention now? In one side I got your point that you have an intention to buy bitcoin which is mean you don't have bitcoin and you will buy it but in other side you say that you will sell bitcoin which is mean you have bitcoin already.

So, what is your point? Buy, hold or sell bitcoin? There is no good time to buy bitcoin AFAIK, depend on your strategy to get profit. You can choose long term investment and you can buy it in any price situation. Unless you need a short term profit then you have to pay attention where is the support price and the resistent price, so you can buy it at the right price and you can sell it as your strategy that you have.

Bitcoin can reach 15000 to 18,000$ in the next move, so it is best to buy right now.

That will make people are still waiting for the price, and they will buy more bitcoin if they have more money. I think that it could be possible to happen in the next moves because bitcoin price now still below than $13k and we could hope that it will increase higher soon. Bitcoin price now still be a good time to buy for people who miss the low price yesterday so they can have bitcoin now. But they cannot expect to see bitcoin price moves so fast because that will depends on the demand on the market.

Always been a good time to buy whenever you see a price fluctuates downward in a scale of thousands of dollars.

Before it went to almost 20k then back to 6k. That is the buy point now. Wait for just months and then here you are. 3k USD in profit without even doing a thing.
Where could you pick 3k USD in the streets? Unless you are some pickpocket then you could not accumulate this by just walking in the street or even trying to beg for alms.  Grin

A few days ago Bitcoin was nearly 9200 dollars. Today again it is crossed $10500. The volatility in Bitcoin is very high these days, but I think under 10000 dollars is a safe buy.

Bitcoin can reach 15000 to 18,000$ in the next move, so it is best to buy right now.

something normal

So I'm just wondering 🤔 is it now the great time to buy bitcoin or should I sell?

I think you should read this article:

Bitcoin Passes New Milestone as Network Mines 85% of Its Total Supply

bitcoin is limited and the more people entering this market the price will increase, this is a good long term investment

Can you give me some of your opinions? Thanks in advance. 😁

Bitcoin prices are always volatile they’re never stable, and the price swings you have mentioned are really normal, now about your question I would recommend you to simply hodl them. If you see currently prices are $10500 at preev, and it seems to me that they’ll only rise further. I would advise you to buy on every dibs, hence if prices come down again to $9300 levels then you can buy it.

When you can buy bitcoin yesterday, today you can see you are making a profit because the bitcoin price now increases up to $10k. But if you don't buy bitcoin, then I think now you should wait for a while until you see bitcoin price down again. Your decision will give an effect to you and related to the market, and you should analyze by yourself. You don't have to follow other people suggestion if you do not make any analyze because sometimes the information from them is not right.

OP, no one made any big money by selling, ask the non-believer who sold under $1,000 because he said that Bitcoin will die "in a few years". I believe it was in 2016 when he blogged about it.

He sold, then went to work on R3.

today's daily candle close (in 5 hours) might be informative. as we speak, buyers are rallying above the local high from last week. ($10248 on coinbase) so IMO one of two things can happen here:

a) sustained buying comes in and bulls hold the line at $10250, bear trapping everyone who sold in the $9000s
b) this mini rally will end as a wick on the daily chart and sellers will hold this level

it's a nail biter at the moment. i'm feeling slightly bullish here but keeping my expectations in check. little rallies like this have been getting sold into pretty hard for the past few weeks.

This old question since the resurrection of bitcoin is still being asked  Tongue
Those who did not join the club from <$10 had heart attack
Those who did not own a single satoshi at <$100 had a stroke
Those who did not buy anything at <$1k are crying
Those who still asking should i buy under $10k should attend history sessions about our greatest cryptocurrencies, ever!

First things first: take everything said here with a grain of salt. No one knows with a high degree of confidence what will happen.

I think price action is likely to play out similarly to one of these projections. For xxxx123abcxxxx, I'm referring to "Bull Scenario (Preferred)."
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51912807
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51975328

Bigger picture, my opinion is there could be more downside in the mid term, possibly down to the $8,000s. However, there is no guarantee of that, and in the scheme of this correction's trading range, selling below $10K = selling pretty low. Better to buy in the $8K-$10K range and sell above it.

I think the best bit of advice to people thinking about selling is to sell a portion right now. The reality is that the temptation to sell will no longer be a temptation but reality the moment the price takes another dump.

Lowering your exposure to Bitcoin or any other crypto when you are in doubt will help you to avoid stressing out too much, especially when you are here just for the profits and don't really care much about the fundamentals.

I remember last year how people almost laughed at panic sellers for selling around $10k while most emotionally attached hodlers kept hodling. It's clear who had the last laugh when we dumped to $3000.

it wasn't a sudden drop to $10k and below it took a lot of time and a lot of dumping to get there.
as for buying it will come down to your strategy with bitcoin. if you plan on day trading then with a higher risk right now anything below $10k and closer to $9k is a good place to place buy orders and anything above $10k is a good place to sell since for the time being we are only seeing sideways action. you also have to accept the risks that come with this strategy.
if you are an investor (longer term) then anything around $10k with + or - $1000 is a good entry point since we are in an accumulation phase.

today's price was $1050 ish by the way.

In my opinion, Bitcoin's price will rise. So, for now - I've decided to keep my coins. To be honest, I even bought a few coins on the net, because I found a website with quite attractive fees. But, this is not good time to sell - that's for sure Smiley Be patient

Are you joking or just promoting that site? How fees on that site can be attractive when you need to pay $10700 for one Bitcoin? Maybe you should check some other crypto exchanges and save a lot when buying Bitcoin -- > https://www.cryptofeesaver.com/exchanges/fees/coins/bitcoin

That will depend on yourself. But for me, this time we still have a good time to buy more bitcoin but don't buy in a large amount if you are not sure with the price later. You can make an order buy and split it into 3 orders price to buy bitcoin, and you can also place an order sell at any higher price so you can have an order buy and sell bitcoin at the same time. You can see what will happen later by doing that and if the price later is down, then your order buy will be filled. That will happen too if the price increase later, your order sell will be filled too.

It's pretty obvious that the price can still go up in the next couple of days. So the best advise that we can give to you is not to sell at this point. Although as you have mentioned the price suddenly went down after reaching as high as $13k. But that is the nature of bitcoin, it's very volatile and unpredictable. So If I'm in your shoes, I would rather hold for the long haul so that you can maximize your profits.

furenaire123, Bitcoin is after long crypto winter started showing signs of recovery just some 4 months ago, and my opinion is that this is not good time for selling if you are interested for long-term holding. Short-term price can go down and up, but in next 1-3 years from now we should see new big bull run which can push price above last ATH.

There is just a big selling pressure when price was close to $14 000, and it is normal thing considering that most people take profits if they have the opportunity to do that. Now is not bad time for buying, but you can risk and wait lower price - but Bitcoin is mostly show best results in terms of price in the last quarter.

How long do you plan to stay on this market? if you are good for long term it's a good call to start buying now and set your price until you sell. Usually investors are buying at the bottom and if this would be the last chance to see 4 digits then buy.

But if you think that bitcoin has been inconsistent and you think that it won't go up again soon, you better observe first before buying. This is my opinion but it's not an advice for you to buy, you should still stand on your own decision not with others.
