using localbitcoins is okay and I also think its nice, just pick out a trusted seller and everything will go smooth for sure.
Localbitcoins is the solution and I think we can close thread honestly because there is already told that localbitcoins is the best option for large sums of bitcoins.
Its safe and risk free if you meet with a trusted dealer from localbitcoins.

hahaha, thanks for pointing my Sig out guys, i've now removed it.

For the serious answers, basically what you are saying is that it wont be possible to buy that quantity all in 1 go and that i should spread it over multiple trades? and even multiple exchanges?

I have been looking at btc-e lately and i have noticed that there is alot of liquidity there compared with anxpro for example where its much lower. But is there an exchange with an even higher liquidity?

buying a large sum of bitcoins would be smart but it depends about the moment off course. Is it profitable for you to buy as many as you want right now or just to wait for a price drop i think that its better that you should wait.

With a large amount of bitcoins the best thing you can do is just using localbitcoins, they can be trusted and have some nice dealers that will let you meet in person.

Localbitcoins can be trusted with the most dealers on it, although you of course always have to be on your steps.
I heard a couple weeks ago that someone was robbed just 10 min before they was gonna meet in person...

Just use localbitcoins its the safest method to do it because you can met the dealer in real life and because of that its also the safest method.
There is a very low chance you will get scammed.

its indeed the best option you can pick because with localbitcoins its pretty secure plus its a trusted service you can use for it and that makes it also more safe.

Using localbitcoins for large amounts is in my eyes the only safe way to buy a large sum of them because you can really make nice deals on it with some dealers and you can see if they are trusted and meet them in person, what do you want more right ?

yes localbitcoins is better than any other way in trading huge transactions.  That's why we always emphasize that one has to know the trusted traders.

There is no safest method..

If youre handling 250 btc, you need something called a mule - instead of you being phsyically there and being risk of getting shot at.

If someone knew handling 250 btc was in 1 transaction, its a huge target. Or you need to hire a personal armed body guard.

you can handle it as long as you are in a protected zone.  Trading it for cash is a little bit risky if you don't have a strategy.  If you will be trading it in your area i prefer you do the completion of the trade in the bank.  And if your buyer is at overseas then it can be done thru telegraphic transfer or you can have it traded in staggered form.

Wow 250 btc I will say that's a large amount to buy at once but it's a good invest bitcoin prices is gradually increasing week to week base from what I notice I do all my buying and selling btc at local bitcoins but I have heard great things about coinbase my advice is do your homework/research investing that much money you should take your time see it through before pulling the trigger but money talks so finding somebody to fill your needs shouldn't be hard Good luck buddy

i agree with you
The best way IMO is to buy from Localbitcoins.

You get a personalised deal, since you can choose the person you want to deal with instead of a big company. You can also meet up with that person in real life to complete this deal, so it's much more convenient and safe for you.

The coins are held in the localbitcoins escrow as well, so you know you're 99% protected.

I am not sure why people are pointing towards localbitcoins. The fee is larger. Just go with Kraken (both large and reputable eschange) where you buy at market rate and with good protection.
Do note to transfer the coins to an offline wallet after buying though).
Why are you us warning to do this? BTW how long does it usually take for them to transfer from their accounts to your own wallet? This included the weekends?

I never used localbitcoins but I think it will be the best option they are trusted here on the forums and there are many dealers with large stocks of bitcoins.
Another nice factor is that you can meet in person so that it can really be done on a trusted way.

I have used N no of times in localbitcoins to buy and sell the bitcoins. I guess that is trusted medium to exchange the bitcoins to fiat. Payment system so secured with escrow system to grow big value.

buying bitcoins has a lots of ways what is important is that in every trade you make transactions are completed with satisfaction. knowing that you are dealing with the right traders or company's that trade bitcoins.

Op is from EU and I don't know if localbitcoins has established position on European market - I guess not, as it is more US thing.
There are however many local bitcoin exchanges in every EU country. I would recommend using them and buy bitcoins in smaller amounts - definitely not 250 BTC at once.

There are many traders from EU on localbitcoins.  If you can't find any ads for your country, you can post in the forums and I'm sure someone will take the trade offer.

Also, many traders do international trades, so if best deal is outside of EU, you're just a wire away.

Kinda funny looking at the op, and thinking about 2015 price of btc Cheesy

You can buy them from me, depending on what you mean by large sum of bitcoins.  I can sell up to 20 btc on a given day.  I am a reputable trader on localbitcoins.  I am willing to negotiate, depending on the amount of coins you need.  I can go as low as 2% above spot, based on google:  https://www.google.com/#q=btc+to+usd, and you will avoid wire fees.

Check out one of my ads https://localbitcoins.com/ad/325144/cash-out-your-bitcoins-boa-to-boa-online-trade-using-computer-or-phone.

While you're there, check out my reviews.

I also to local cash trades if you live in the U.S. in the New England area.

There are pros and cons to doing online trades on LBC.  The pros: you are dealing with a trustworthy trader, and you will get your bitcoin immediately.  The cons: You have to be from the U.S., you have to meet minimum requirements, and, if you are doing an online trade to my bank, you will give up anonymity.

I am willing to consider using escrow service here, like SebastianJu if you would prefer.  Fees to be negotiated.

PM me if you have any other questions.  Thanks!

Hi ,

I want to soon buy a large quantity of bitcoins for a good price in EUR.

Can anyone suggest where or how i should buy 250BTC.

Which exchange are best and what strategy (do i buy all in 1 go?) should i use to purchase that quantity. Is BTE-e a good place to buy this quantity?

This is purely for investment purposes.

i wish i can be someone like you, buying large amount of bitcoin, but at the time i will not confuse,i will buy bitcoins with some part, buying 10 or 20 BTC in one exchange, and then buy more bitcoin on other exchange, kraken, coinbase and other,i think this will be more safe.

I think for that much amount the OP should not have to use that exchange, I will prefer bitstamp for that amount as nowadays that exchange is considered as more reliable and this exchange also have got licensed status.

if you have no idea to buy so large amount, why not try a little among exchanges firstly?

bitfinex only support usd, you can pass it firstly.

kraken is good site to try, please prepare your identity documents in advance, verification is essential

also, lakebtc support eur already, and it has more volume than kraken, it worth to try
She do not want to wait any more and do not want to waste time in investing small amounts as the price is increasing much faster, and with kraken yes you have to prepare your documents for verification and it will also take a good time of you.

Yes, if you do not have any knowledge about that matter then do not risk a big amount of your money but try little amounts with different exchanges and after that when you good some knowledge about this try that one which you find better.

Kraken has the most liquid Euro market. The reason people are advising you to buy in small chunks is that often the order books arn't deep enough to absorb buys that big. Of course there are hidden orders, so no way of knowing for sure, but test it out in small amounts so you don't end up overpaying.

BTC-E is known as a decent exchange, but I have been reading through the internet that there are some people that complain about them processing bank deposits very slowly.

I myself will recommend Kraken as my bank deposits are coming through in quite a quick fashion, and they are also capable of handling large amounts of incoming fiat deposits.

Moving large sum of money from your bank account to exchange will raise a lot of red flag.

People move large sums out of their account every single day. The only problem will be if your bank has an issue with Bitcoin and there are no shortage of those.

I think 250BTC is nothing to a big exchange, you can buy it in any one bitcoin exchange.

bitstamp
btcchina
lakebtc
btc-e
itbit
bitfinex
etc..

the questions is what fiat do you use? usd is best, cny and eur also can be considered.

kraken do not require idendity if you are willing to accept their limit of 2k per day and 10k per months, you can go ahead and put only your street address, which could be fake for what it worth

if you have no idea to buy so large amount, why not try a little among exchanges firstly?

bitfinex only support usd, you can pass it firstly.

kraken is good site to try, please prepare your identity documents in advance, verification is essential

also, lakebtc support eur already, and it has more volume than kraken, it worth to try

I think if you buy all of those 250 bitcoin at a time in any trading platform it may rise the bitcoin price a little around 1-2$ for sometime. BTC-e can be the option to buy but buy in installment will be good option for you. Store those bitcoin in cold wallet after you buy them, don't take the risk of lossing from hot or online wallet.

If you will use an exchange OP, go with Kraken. I mean, if you opt in for doing a verification than Kraken is the best of all exchanges if you are buying in euros. It's the easisest and the cheapest to send euros via SEPA.

If you don't want to be verified than you need to work out the trade in person. This will be riskier of course if you don't have somebody to help you out with it. You might want to post ads in Currency exchange section. This will take longer as well.

also I think 250BTC is not much for a real bitcoin exchange, you should away from it if you even can't buy 250BTC in some one.

for eur, lakebtc or kraken is matches your appetite

i don't know if OP want to do it without sending his id, with that sum you need ID in every exchange

but if he can split that amount in many small amount, he can probably cut it, would reguire a long wait, though

I highly recommend you invest in a solid hardware wallet to store that BTC. I wouldn't leave it on exchanges, since well, you never what can happen. Hacks, Mtgox, etc.

Anyhow, make sure to read on cold storage, wouldn't want to lose that 57.5k USD would you?

I guess buying some 250 bitcoins would boast the bitcoin price at least 10%. So it must be a time to buy some bitcoin to get some profits using lazy trades with alt coins.

BTC-e really isn't the best place if you're sending fiat, and it's even worse for EUR.

You have to go through third party payment processors which can take a long time plus there are fees on top and their BTC/EUR market is tiny. A 250 coin buy eats half the sell orders on there so you'd singlehandedly give the price a tiny moon shot when other exchanges might not budge at all.

There are plenty of other EUR options that would be way faster and with less slippage. Kraken is probably the biggest EUR exchange. There are also places like bitcoin.de and other aforementioned markets that would be a better option.

all exchanges:

or

Where and how to buy them depends on the money you want to spend and what to do with those bitcoins.

hahaha, thanks for pointing my Sig out guys, i've now removed it.

Thanks,

Suresh

If you're going all in, BTC-e is also good but I wouldn't recommend an all in with them. Perhaps you could go and buy on separate websites? I recommend ecoin.eu if you live around europe. You can go to their office personally to make the purchase.

EDIT: I didn't see the sig right away but It wouldn't hurt to help if he really wants to invest lol.
