Contact BitPay or Coinbase maybe?

Also, I believe BitSimple may have contacts to assist in large transactions.

why not try lakebtc.com??
you can control the market with 3000 btc volume!

In other words, his buy order will drive the price up significantly and cost him a lot more lol. Cheesy

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ shows:

the 24h trading average volume of LakeBTC is only 2,000.  BTC-e is also only about 2,000
and a little better, Bitfinex's is 4,000  Bitstamp's is 3,000
if you want to buy 3,000 btc, no matter where you can control the market, but you choose okcoin or others in china.

If I were you, I would choose the LakeBTC or BTC-e.
I can not enjoy the feeling of control over the market, but also because their smple and convenient transactions and lower fees.

Your best bet is probably to wait for the next traunch of SR bitcoins being auctioned off by the US Marshall's service.

Or you could figure out where in the hell fat-head Karpeles is residing...knock on his door and make him an offer he can't refuse :p

i suggest you wire lots of $$ to BTCE, Bitstamp and Bitfinex -- enough to cover all the slippage too -- and buy up the book. you'll probably start a massive bull run with these books so thin... Grin

If you'll make an order on an exchang with good price then i guess it will be filled, also goverment is about to auction 30k of bitcoins separated to i think 3k piles of them so there is your chance  Cool
What exchanger do you suggest?
I've not been talking about single exchanger as a person, but rather about exchanges like these sites:
https://btc-e.com/
https://www.bitstamp.net/
Etc...they won't scam you like single seller may. Don't forget to put your order few dolars above market price in order to help the market and get it fullfilled ASAP Smiley
Good luck!

You should deposit money on an exchange, use the money to buy bitcoin, withdraw the bitcoin, deposit more money and repeat until you have purchase the amount that you wanted to buy.

The best way is using a trusted exchange and making a bank deposit or bank wire for the amount you want to buy, Anx pro exchange can help you with that because triying to find someone in person can be difficult.
