Coinbase is one of the bigger companies so yeah you are safe when you use them.
Their prices are actually quite (fees etc.). Even for withdrawals they don't charge you the jackpot.
Even Coinfloor is a London based exchange which allows you to buy and sell in GBP and Their bank account is in Estonia, so a wire transfer or SEPA payment is still required, but you will avoid the currency exchange costs. Bitstamp accounts are in USD, but if you use the wire transfer option, rather than a SEPA payment, they will convert your GBP at very competitive rates. Be careful with SEPA payments.Smiley

Most exchanges that we can use in the uk are way over priced. Does anyone take advantage and use arbitrage or is it not worth the hassles registering, verifying, working out costs, doing the transactions, transferring wallet to wallet all for a couple of £.

Arbitrage is quite risky. It takes time to transfer fiat and bitcoin into different exchanges. The time will cost money.

it must be done with a bot not manually, and fiat should already be there, when you see that you ran out of fiat you do another transfer the same day, not waiting for it to go to zero
Exactly. They have large amount of capital and are running  bot for arbitrage without time gap due to all of trading funds being ready in the exchanges. For the individual, we cannot profit it at all.

You have to trust the exchanges a lot to have many fiat /bitcoin in there. I only do short term trading in exchanges, so when I finish trading, I will withdraw my money.

if in the future they can guarantee an insucrance for your funds like coinbase, it can be done more comfortably, your money would e safe and leaving fiat there would only increment your profit

actually i believe that leaving fiat, already, in any exchange is more safe then leaving bitcoin, because the hacker can not simply transfer it to an address, he need a bank account etc....

The problem is, British banks are reluctant to service bitcoin companies so many exchanges are having to bank elsewhere in the EU. In these cases, you'll have to put up with charges on international transfers like SEPA and often wait 2–5 days for your funds to arrive.
you might try this exchange :

Sorry about that.
Igot is trying to resolve the problems so hard.

No igot is not scam.

That's lovely. I think I'll choose to trust the experiences of multiple users rather than one sentence from your fine self. If they're not scammy, they're certainly unacceptably slow to respond when there are problems.

And a pretty illiterate one sentence at that.
The stress of making up new excuses must be taking its toll on Mr. Day's grammar, he was quite eloquent when he was making up stuff explaining the situation three months ago.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-exchange-igot-challenges-scam-allegations/

So, if you are really Rick Day, how about starting a new igot thread and telling people exactly what happened and what is happening now?
That is, if you hold out the slightest hope of ever being trusted again.
The way Bitcoin 'entrepreneurs' think they can fuck people about that trusted them, REALLY PISSES ME OFF.

Bittylicious is very easy and hassle free and accept faster payments but I think when you first sign up you are limited to a certain amount of bitcoin until a few purchases are made.

Try igot
It is the best exchange to trade in UK and British Pound.

Why are you recommending an exchange that not only is (maybe) in Australia but which also has a ton scam accusations against it?

I have a friend who is using
cryptopay.me

Prices are a bit high IMO but it's a good service, working flawlessly since a while now. YOu can also apply for a very handy BTC debit card.
AML/KYC is mandatory as far as I remember.

Arbitrage always looks tempting and sounds promising, but the practical aspects that you mention of actually doing it and the potential risk involved put me off.
If you are looking for ways of trading bitcoins as a price speculation, rather than buying to hodl or use, then derivatives have leverage, are hassle and tax free on profits but wide spreads.

Do you have any idea whether Kraken is cheaper/more expensive than localbitcoins?

I just checked bitbargain and all of the listings are largely overpriced. Localbitcoins would be a much better deal.

It's an exchange so it'll be cheaper. I'm sure quite a few localbitcoins traders just buy on there, stick a premium on top and make the sale. Exchanges will almost always be cheaper because they're a lot of hassle for casual buyers to get on.

Does circle.com work outside the us?  The have limits to start ($300/week),  but have been very good so far.  I'm not sure if you can use them outside the US but it's worth taking a look.

I think they've clamped down on that type of thing now. It was fine for international buyers once upon a time but more and more seem to be rejected. Worth a try all the same.

I use bittylicious on quite a few occasions.
However, if buying larger quantities I stick to localbitcoins as they have a better rate.
Both have been great although never had an issue with the former.

And they promotional slogan is - 'Your Money. Secure In the Cloud.' -  I stopped reading there. If they seriously think that I believe that my money will be secure in their online cloud they are mistaken.
It will be fine until first serious hacking attempt, then things will go dirty.

have many options and all are more or less the same.

Bitbargain.co.uk and Localbitcoins are Old school both have really good reputation this are my best options, today you must to verify your Id in most of the companies, so the only diference between them is in coinbase and kraken you can Trade with them.

Another opcion is Cex is the oldest exchange if you dont count Mtgox

Kraken is also a major exchange handling XBT/GBP trading pairs.

They accept SEPA transfers and are quite cheap to withdraw from. Definately give it a try.

I haven't bought Bitcoins for a good while but my main source was Bittylicious. That's a great service and near instant but you gotta watch the premiums. Sometimes they've been on a par with exchanges, other times they've totally detached from reality. Each price you're offered is from an individual seller.

Localbitcoins sellers seem to have become quite insanely anal about ID but I guess that's understandable.

Bittybot.co.uk lists all the prices and major sellers. Looks like you can buy from Coinbase with a card but I assume the limits are pretty low.

One thing to bear in mind is that Fidor bank has arrived in the UK and it seems like Bitcoin businesses will be able to maintain accounts with them. Hopefully soon we might have 'real' exchanges rather than secondary buying services or waiting for wires to land abroad.

Localbitcoins is always a solid option specially in UK where you shouldn't have problems finding a legit amount of good dealers. If you don't care about privacy, then any of the exchanges on the Eurozone will do.

LocalBitcoins.com is a solid platform. I'd also add www.100bit.co.in, which is a similar platform, but cheaper. Any exchange on the Eurozone might not work for UK. Pound is still the currency on UK. It has not shifted to Euro.
