Interesting. I'd love to be paid in Bitcoin.

Anyone know how this compares to Adsense? Revenue and otherwise. Seems there is no automatic pricing mechanism...

Nothing usually compares to Adsense, which is unfortunate.

This is Todd from BuySellAds.

Some facts:

1. This isn't a marketing thing. We have advertisers and publishers from over 80 countries. Paying non-US publishers is a huge pain. Wire transfers cost ~ $35, payouts via PayPal cost up to $10, and checks take FOREVER for publishers to receive via regular mail. So, for us, if a publisher is willing to accept Bitcoin it's a great thing. We'd love it if ALL of our publishers would accept payouts in Bitcoin because it's much easier than the myriad of ways we currently have to pay publishers.

2. The reddit announcement this past week was also not a marketing thing. We have been working with reddit to sell ads to some of their sub-reddits for a while now. We asked them for some inventory in bitcoin related sub-reddits because we're starting to sell quite a bit of Crypto-related inventory for publishers. They said sure, but only if we could accept bitcoin. The good news was that we already had something in process here. So, it was both great timing and a perfect fit. 100% not a marketing thing.

3. The Crypto-currency channel at BuySellAds is *very* new. It's also one of our fastest growing new channels at BuySellAds.

RocketSingh - I'm not sure what we did to piss you off, but it seems like you have a grudge against us. Ease up Smiley  We're probably the most authentic ad company out there you will find... and one of the first to embrace Crypto-currency. I agree with you that this really isn't that big of a deal at all - for us it's about doing what we can to improve our software/operations for our customers. If you're here on BitcoinTalk I'd imagine you'd like to see Bitcoin succeed... the more merchants the better...

As Bitcoin acceptance and payment does not require the identity of the payee or the receiver to be disclosed, will u need the identity of the advertisers or publishers, who'll use Bitcoin as payment method on your site ?

The real question is: can the content providers (aka the people hosting the ads on their website) receive payment in bitcoin? If they can then this would be a very big deal and could potentially change the advertising market. If they cannot then this means nothing as they would likely be simply be selling the bitcoin via coinbase/bitpay as most other merchants do

I have seen most of their inventory under crptocurrency section remains unsold... especially the Bitcoin ones. They are inefficient in bringing in Bitcoin advertisers and enjoying free advertising for their service on publisher's cost. They dont even allow publishers a way to feel in the unsold space with other ads like Adsense do. I dont think BuySellAds have the credibility to do anything for Bitcoin.
They should implement something that allows sites with unsold ad space to display "general/categorized" ads. Their UI does not necessarily affect how well them accepting bitcoin is going to impact the advertising market. Them accepting bitcoin could potentially get more bitcoin related advertisers to want to buy ads because their revenue is in bitcoin so it would make sense to have expenses in terms of bitcoin

about time bitcoin gets some real attention Grin

Please stop repeating the same bloody statement after every single news. BuySellAds is no big deal. They are not mainstream themselves and still finds space only in fancy template sites. Bitcoin is far bigger than BuySellAds.

Earlier this month, BuySellAds, an online advertising network based in Boston, Massachusetts, announced on its blog that it would begin accepting Bitcoin payments from its advertisers.

That news created quite a stir in the Bitcoin community because the integration meant you could also buy ad space on BSA’s advertising partner Reddit, which has more than 135 million monthly unique visitors. Reddit’s bitcoin community alone, r/bitcoin, has more than 130,000 subscribers.

And now the good news continues. On Tuesday, a visitor to the original Bitcoin announcement posted a comment and asked if “publishers” could also receive their payments in Bitcoin. The company’s CEO, Todd Garland, promptly replied with a most welcome affirmative.

"We’re certainly open to it. Right now we’d have to do it manually, which is fine with us. To do this, just ping [email protected] with the min/max you’re willing to have a cashout converted from USD to BTC and we’ll get it processed for you."

BuySellAds is used on 0.4% of all websites. Based on BuiltWith Trends, BuySellAds.com currently ranks as the 16th fastest-growing advertising company. BuySellAds has recently acquired a number of other ad networks in the past, including Carbon Ads, Fusion Ads and Beacon Ads.

Bitcoin is a software-based online payment system described by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 and introduced as open-source software in 2009. Payments are recorded in a public ledger using its own unit of account, which is also called bitcoin. Nakamoto disappeared in late 2009 with over 1 million bitcoins that he had mined while maintaining the lion’s share of the network hashrate.
