There was one coin a while back that was based on anti-Semitism.

I'd be grateful if you could PM me with the name/symbol. I maintain DOACC (https;//github.com/DOACC) and if the reference passed me by, I want to ensure that it is suitably, ah, “encoded”. I'm committed to a non-censorious stance but to include coins such as FHRITP (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annfred-fhritpc-fuck-her-right-in-the-pussy-coin-offended-fuck-off-735724) requires some sensitivity about presentation.

For the OP - it might help if you read one of the “How old is everybody?” threads, where you will discover that an overwhelming majority of respondents appear to be teenagers. In this majority are many who are especially immature, ill-educated, socially inept and boorish - hence the incomprehension of the role and utility of social norms. Whilst the OP's English is excellent, it may not be sensitive to the linguistic nuances which betray immaturity --- in those cases where the poster isn't obviously resorting to the language of the schoolyard.

tl;dr - they have an adolescent's view of the world and are unable to rise above it.

“To be perfectly honest, we underestimated the reservations against the fuck word. Most of the major exchanges are US based and we thought people were more open in 2014. We had it all, the initial lol moment, people were digging fuckcoin, but no exchange, no matter how hard we tried, was willing  to add fuckcoin with the FUCK symbol. We even heard of refunded BTC "exchange votes" from the community. This is why there was no update on the fuckcoin wallet.”

Aw, bless.

Cheers

What's funny is there actually was an ISIS coin for a few months, on Mintpal. I wonder if it was just an unfortunate coincidence in name choice or if they went out of their way to be offensive. There wasn't much info about it on the forum.

I tried to have a peaceful discussion with CamorraCoin Dev and the community about the poor choice to name a coin after a mafia organization such as Camorra, which is a serious matter. In response, my post just kept on being deleted, so I'm hoping to have a discussion here.

Is this a joke or something? You are offended because they used a mafia organization in a coin name. So what. With all the IPO scams going on here on a daily basis. Exchanges and pools in on these scam coins, turning a blind eye because the get paid. Your posting about a name? How fucking stupid is this!? Its no wonder they kept deleting your post. Organized crime is here and they are stealing from unsuspecting investors. How about you post something about that?

you clearly didn't get my point. First of all I made it pretty clear that I'm not offended because of bigotry reasons, I'm offended because the dev's intention clearly was to give an "italian" feel to the coin, and choosing a mafia theme and the name of one of the main mafia branches to represent Italy is indeed very offensive. Second, I do agree with you about scams in the crypto world, but I wouldn't compare it to mafia or criminal organization, they are more like a big casino. We all know what goes on behind the scenes and we agree to that because we pretty much gamble hoping for the jackpot. We are aware of what happens and choose to take part to it anyway for the sake of greed or curiosity. A criminal organization steals from you against your will (and not only that ofc). We could spend hours debating whether gambling is a legalized stealing operation or not, but it is not what I'm pointing out here.

An offensive coin is sadly nothing out of the ordinary. There was one coin a while back that was based on anti-Semitism. I'm sure there are numerous others but looking for them would be a waste. Take solace in the fact that they're doomed from the start. Miners/investors will lose more than anyone else (devs profit regardless), so eventually they'll learn not to get involved with such coins.

This was my post:

Hey Dev,

first of all I'm not here to FUD or anything, just wanted to share a couple of thoughts with you and the community.
First of all, I assume you are not actually italian and that your choice of this name and “feeling” for the coin is simply a forgivable mistake caused by stereotypes always present in any culture towards the others.

I'm italian, and I have to say that I (and not only me in the italian community, believe me) feel highly offended by your coin, expecially because of the “Camorra” choice. My feelings do not derive from bigotry, I'm the first one to understand humor and to laugh at innocent national jokes. My feelings are based on the fact that mafia is a serious issue, and Camorra, as you may or may not know, is one of the main branches of mafia in Italy, it is not something to joke about, and believe me, expecially not something you want to have associated with you and your business. To put it in perspective, it would be like creating an “AlQaedaCoin”, or at the moment an “ISISCoin”, or, if you live in the United States, a “KuKluxClanCoin”. It is a serious matter, many innocent people, policemen, magistrates and soldiers have died fighting mafia.
It is not italian-stylish, it is very offensive to associate Italy to mafia, and anyway it seriously is not stylish at all.

Please, reconsider your choice. If not for the italian community, do it for you, as I said, if you actually know the matter, it is nothing you want to promote or have affiliated with you.

I'm here for any further discussion, I will check the thread and PM folder.

Regards

By the way, to all the “italians” commenting here with enthusiasm: either you are not actually italian and are misdirected by the stereotypes that misdirected the devs (for example you just have relatives in Italy, but are born and bred somewhere else, nothing wrong with misconceptions), or you seriously need to reconsider your opinions.
Also, it is crittovaluta in italian, not valuta crypto  Wink

EDIT: CamorraCoin dev PMd me. I want to highlight that THIS IS NOT AN ACCUSATION TOWARDS FLAWS OF THE COIN, AND I'M NOT ACCUSING THE DEV OF SCAM OR ANYTHING, AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THEY ARE LEGIT AND THEIR COIN IS ASWELL. I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT A SERIOUS TOPIC AND DISCUSS ABOUT IT, HOPING THAT THE DEV WILL UNDERSTAND.
