Cannot imagine I will be answering my own question...
I have tested with this thread. I can lock it and unlock again to resume posting. On the bottom left, there is also an option to move the thread too.

In most sections you can. Just look at the bottom left of the thread and you should see "Unlock topic".

Pretty sure you can lock and unlock threads at your own will, but it should be easy enough to find out. Just try lock this one and re-open it.

If I started a topic and then lock it. Can I unlock it later on to enable members to post/edit their comments again? I know that you cannot switch between a self-moderated topic and a normal moderated one, not sure if the lock function works the same way.

(I actually wanted to start a new topic and test the above, but I don't know where to post that testing thread)
