What do you think? Is the gap too big between Bitcoin and others? Could Ethereum or any other currency get a huge raise and topple Bitcoin?

My opinion is that with a good real-world usage application, one or many of the new coins could gain greater value than Bitcoin in a year or two.
Yes.why not? If bitcoin can then why other cryotocurrency can't.
The first cryotocurrency invented is not enough to stay forever in the top,it needs to be really better than other currency if it want to stay at the top.
For example Google is the best search engine on internet for now,but it is not the first search engine invented. So which one is best then it will go to top.

I fully believe that there will be new coin that will be stable and will move bitcoin from the top. But I think that it won't be Ethereum. I think, that there will be new coin in the next few months, that in year or two will became the new market leader and will be the stable coin that the Crypto Market need with no movements like bitcoin in the range of 50 % like before two weeks from 20 k to 10 k and even bellow that....
For me, this is something that the Crypto World needs most at the moment - a stable coin!!!

I think maybe ETH or XRP can do it because most of the altcoins are just a project, they can't have good future life for beat Bitcoin price or volume.

Etheruem has scaling problems like Bitcoin. I would say NEO would replace Bitcoin and Stellar taking second place. But having said that, there will be major disruptions in the market before Grand daddy can be dethroned.

Ethereum probably should pass Bitcoin.
Bitcoin really aint very convenient or useful.
Still, there are threats to Ethereum too, like Cardano and IOTA.

The Experience Layer of the Decentralized Internet
I don't think it's possible.
Because altcoin is technically superior to bitcoin.
But most countries recognize only bitcoin, but do not recognize any altcoin, they can fully capable of developing a better altcoin, but they can not create a second bitcoin.

Bitcoin might remain as top crypto for next few decades because it is taking benefit of being first of it's kind and also it has huge community support at back so it's price will not drop drastically.

Also other coin like ether have lots of supply company does to Bitcoin and also eth is more like ico platform rather than a currency for payment.

I think it can happen, but it will take some effort.

The high cost of transactions and the slow confirmation times are massive issue. However, Bitcoin is still THE name brand in cryptocurrency so they have first mover advantage.
