Im new to the cryotocurrency world i just learn lot about bitcoin but i didn't know about altcoin so i wanna know about altcoins too.
I will define altcoin as any other cryptocurrency expect for bitcoin. There are a lot altcoins with new ones launching every week. Altcoins perform different functions and are built on different platforms. If you want to know and understand altcoins better, go through a page hundreds listed there, its called coinmarket cap.

Altcoins Alternate cryptocurrencies - bitcoin alternatives all the same. the are currencies that they can be mined using the hardwares like: Scrypt Alternate Cryptocurrencies (Altcoins using scrypt algorithm),Hybrid and CPU alternate cryptocurrencies(Alt coins using other, innovative hashing algorithms ) SHA-256 Alternate Cryptocurrencies ( hashing algorithm as Bitcoin.)

Altcoins are pretty much Cryptocurrency that isn't Bitcoin. "Alternative coins".Many are designed similar to Bitcoin, but to provide different uses..
You've got ones for smart contracts, ones that act as supercomputers, anonymity, etc.
Altcoins are alternate coins, so crypto coins different then Bitcoin.
