Would it not be worth asking the Etsy vendor (s) you had in mind directly whether they'd accept BTC? There are quite a few of them scattered around. If they're a little sceptical you could point them to the folks already doing it.

There is a service which offers it (giftoff) but they are only for the EU. Are there any matching services for the US? I have a late xmas present for my wife I want to pay for with btc and I had been planning to use giftoff, but I recently saw that they only provide GBP gift cards which can't be transferred to USD
