I won't say bitcoin will never surpass gold because that's the future but honestly even though I'm a bitcoin investor I doubt it and it's not easy for bitcoin to surpass gold. You or some people think that bitcoin surpassing gold is just a matter of time but how long will it take and can we wait until then? Will that happen in the next 50 or 100 years?

Bitcoin still has huge potential and growth is almost certain, we should take the opportunity to invest in bitcoin now instead of hesitating. But saying it will surpass gold or even surpass a multi-hundred trillion dollar market like real estate to become the world's largest asset like the OP is asking is far-fetched.

Bitcoin can be the biggest investment in the world and is very much possible if you check the history of Bitcoin growth you will understand that Bitcoin is really growing fast and will one day become one of the best investment in the world, some people say Bitcoin will never be bigger than Gold that's not true Gold has been in existence for thousands of years and Bitcoin is just 16 years but still is running fast trying to catch up with Gold, that means Bitcoin will surely one day grow or be bigger than Gold is just a matter of time, a lot of people that refused to invest in Bitcoin when they had the opportunity are now regretting because of how big Bitcoin is becoming, for such person's you don't have to stay in regret you can still start now because Bitcoin still has a long way to, if you start Bitcoin investment today in the next 10 to 20 years Bitcoin will grow so big, a lot of people are now investing on Bitcoin and countries have started having a Bitcoin reserve meaning that Bitcoin will become more bigger in the future and the most interesting thing about Bitcoin is that no government has control over it, meaning that nothing can stop it from growing more bigger and better.

Some people still don't believe in Bitcoin and think it will fail. But Bitcoin has grown very fast since it started, and many people now trust and use it. This has led to talks of Bitcoin becoming the best investment but I still think it needs more time to be labeled as the best. Bitcoin is doing well, and while we can't know the future bitcoin has the potential to become even bigger and more valuable asset.

Many people didn't believe in Bitcoin, but it proved them wrong and will keep doing so. In a few years, Bitcoin will be far ahead of other investments because it has huge potential.

 All I know is that it would drop from it's position in the asset class cause it would continue going upwards after every circle, well it's interesting how well Bitcoin has improved over the years but it would be more amazing to see bitcoin move from 7th to 5th and upwards in years to come,I believe their are better times ahead of us and anyone that's not investing on Bitcoin now is left behind as the coin progresses.

Being the biggest and best investment in the world does not mean it should only be solely bitcoin that all your money will be invested into, diversifying into other assets should be a priority to you especially in assets like real assets which has also promised to be a profitable asset for investment.

Bitcoin is not far from achieving this milestone but it takes some big courage for things like this to happen even after many black-ash from the public from those that matters the most and can conclude the most of it all and have the final say on bitcoin existence and adaptability.

Bitcoin is a volatile asset but still yet the best you can invest into and be sure of being profitable after a period of time, but it shoudnt still quantify it to be your only investment asset.

Bitcoin already has shown much better returns than real estate.

Although it is quite volatile, and it has had multiple crashes, Bitcoin's annualized return has been about 100%+ over the last decade. That is an incredible return, much, much better than real estate which is at about 10% if you're being generous.

Even in recent years Bitcoin has performed phenomenally well. From 2020 to now, BTC went from about $8k to a new ATH at around $100k...

That time will come and look at where Bitcoin is ranked at based on the market capitalization that it has got for this moment. Despite that the market has been so volatile and we get correction here and there, look at the other assets where it is now inlined with. Currently, top 7 in all of the assets globally based on the market cpa that they got. Isn't that amazing? a called digital gold is now near to get into that trillions in market cap anytime soon next or tied with gold but it's still a work in progress as its market cap is a lot.

If Gold today is able to valued this much in the world of investment, how much more will Bitcoin that its value rose from a dollar or some cent to be valued today at roughly 109k ATH, will be seen in the future, even better than Gold in some angles. Therefore, it's no doubt that Bitcoin has a room to become such asset in the future looking at its properties and  mode of operation. In fact, Bitcoin is way under valued if people begin to realise the importance of Bitcoin.

I agree that Bitcoin will one day be the biggest investment in the world I don't see anything stopping this from happening. I won't say Bitcoin is going to be among the biggest investment in the future because that's already happening as Bitcoin is among the biggest investments at the moment because the potential that you can make from investing in Bitcoin and how easy it's to own Bitcoin. Bitcoin is already the best investment as it isn't as costly as investing in other investments like the real estates. You need to have alot of money for you to invest in real estate and make alot of profits but you don't need that type of money for you to invest into bitcoin. Investing in Bitcoin needs patience and not always about how fast you're trying to enter and exit the market to make profits.

Bitcoin already has a strong stand when it comes to popularity and opinion of use but saying it's gonna surpass means like real estate is actually a question of time. Also seeing how the word is evolving and following up with the trend of technology I doubt it would take even much longer before global adoption but another again is that Bitcoin can be perfect in all ways and so doing there will always be competition with Bitcoin in terms of use as means of investment.

And the great thing is that Bitcoin is the only digital product that is in the top 10. Because the rest are manufactured goods such as gold, silver, oil and technology products such as gadgets. I don't know if Microsoft can be said to be a digital product because they are software but it doesn't seem like it because Microsoft also produces hardware. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think it makes sense for Bitcoin to be used as an investment asset. But if you say it's the biggest, I think gold is still the biggest. To achieve the capitalization of gold, Bitcoin requires an increase of about 5-6 times from the current price.

The OP was asking if Bitcoin would become the world's best investment, not one of the best.

And to be honest, it is quite simple. All it needs to do is flip gold in market cap, which would need it to say grow 20x in value in the future. to around 2.something million dollars per coin. That is definitely possible over the next 20 years, so I think it's still has some gas in the tank to get there.

I don't think that's a good way to judge which investment is best and it's not enough to prove bitcoin is the best investment. Because besides Blackrock, Microstrategy and many other organizations that are investing in bitcoin, there are also larger corporations like Microsoft that have refused to invest in bitcoin or China is even still banning bitcoin...If bitcoin is the best investment, why are so many people still refusing to invest in it?

Bitcoin investment is a nice investment, but you can't it witha real estate investment, so I know very well real that real estate investment is a lucrative business,  but for the aspects of bitcoin taking over the world as a investment method, it can happen if bitcoin stay almost forty years, because the longer bitcoin stays the more people is acquainted with it's development, unlike before people dislike bitcoin even some countries government seems bitcoin as a mean of money laundering, but due to prove of bitcoin since its existence.

The most reliable and the one with the biggest potential - that's more like it.
 

The types of investments in this world will always be diverse and Bitcoin might become the biggest investment, but for that to happen it could take a long time, and no one can be sure how long it will remain the biggest because there will be other types of investments that can replace it and become bigger.

Starting up is the hardest thing for some.
But then it would become obvious what Bitcoin would be able to reach in the future. Much more than now, with how the adoption process going.

As the best investment in the world, I think we can all agree on that at the moment given that, it’s still amassing value and would be worth something more in the future.

For now, I do not consider bitcoin as the best or biggest investment in the world, even though some persons consider bitcoin as their best currently. However, I see bitcoin occupying the position of the world's biggest investment in the future. Unlike assets like gold and real estate that do not have specific supply quantity, bitcoin's supply is capped at 21 million.  So, the more people adopt Bitcoin, that's how bitcoin's value will keep growing. If this continues for a long time, we shouldn't be surprised seeing bitcoin at the top of the chart. I am sure this will definitely happen because bitcoin is right now appealing to lots of people and even governments. Bitcoin's Scarcity is what we are hoping on for bitcoin to attain that level.

No doubt Bitcoin has the potentials to become the biggest and best investment in the future, within it's less than two decades of creation it has become a store of value. Imagine if it's momentum continues to increase geometrically then there's no stopping it then. As of today real estate and gold are the most valuable asset investments, as far as I'm concerned, gold has been in existence from the time if creation and we as humans needs to live in houses. But Bitcoin is new and not a tangible asset yet it's adoption is increasing and governments are realizing it's potentials, I just have high hopes for Bitcoin in the future. Bitcoin finite supply can make it to continue to increase in value and as it's adoption is also increasing it can achieve that height of becoming the best and number one asset in the crypto.

If not that we are still struggling to have a safe adoption of Bitcoin with considerable regulations, I'm not sure this topic should be now, it should have been something to be discussed in the last 5 years or more when Bitcoin was trading below $3k or $4k. If an investment can grow from that amount to $100k+, I think the future is now and we are already in it, if at all you have invested in it before now you will be in future enjoying with everyone right now.

What we need for the future now is not even the price, what we really need is what is going to help Bitcoin stabilize this price, things how the government see Bitcoin and how Bitcoin can be accepted by the government. There has been government fight for long and it's not healthy for Bitcoin, if just all other leaders can be like El Salvador president and treat Bitcoin nicely, I'm very sure that people will be afraid of the price anymore no matter what the speculations says.

To be more precise, bitcoin is the best return investment of the past decade and just because it gives the best return does not mean it is the best investment. How can an investment that is so volatile, manipulative and risky, and has only been legalized in recent years, be called the best investment?

Bitcoin's potential is huge and it has the potential to surpass gold in the future although this will take quite a while as the gap between them is still huge. But to say that it can surpass real estate is delusional and somewhat exaggerated. The world and our lives would be fine without bitcoin and there are still many alternatives but we wouldn't be able to survive without real estate. It can be said that the demand for real estate and its role far exceeds any other asset class in the world, no other asset class can compare.

I believe that Bitcoin can't become a bigger investment than real estate because their usage is different. Bitcoin can become bigger than gold but comparing it to real estate is not a good idea. If we have a declining population and it becomes hard to rent a house, then Bitcoin will be above the real estate but till that problem doesn't exist, there is no competition for real estate.

It is not possible to accurately predict how far Bitcoin will go in the future, but if you observe Bitcoin from its discovery to the present, you can easily understand how it has evolved. When Bitcoin was first listed on the market, its price was very negligible, but now if you look at the market, you will definitely realize that it has increased several hundred thousand times to the current market.

Of course it can because bitcoin has the power to provide certainty for investment and maybe in the last few years we can see how the development of bitcoin has gained such a wide place with the advantages it provides. Some other assets such as gold have a much larger market capitalization compared to bitcoin, but it is possible that in the next few years bitcoin's capitalization will surpass gold as has happened in silver. Bitcoin already is one of the best performing financial assets in the world. I don't count all the memecoins that went 20x or 100x, because I consider memecoin trading to be gambling, not investing. Why do you want Bitcoin to be "the biggest" investment? Does size matter that much? I don't believe that Bitcoin is going to become bigger than real estate investing. At the moment, Bitcoin is already the best investment in the world, far above real estate and most of the major stocks in the market. Use a case of ten year ago and compare Bitcoin to any investment instrument and see it became very clear that Bitcoin have no rival when it comes to investment. Losing at how great Bitcoin have done in its fifteen years of creation, one can say that it will keep getting better into the future so Bitcoin is just getting started as there are several milestones to be smashed.

There is not a block to it, like it is not "impossible", of course it could potentially happen. But that doesn't mean that it will, it just means that the possibility is technically there but that's about it. I personally believe that we are going to face some issues on the long run, so we need to be careful about it, and I can see how this could change as well, it doesn't mean we are going to end up with a good result that easily, we could end up with some issues time to time, but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with a good solution that easily.

It's not going to work out that way and it's not going to be easy for bitcoin. Don't forget that gold capitalization is not static, it also increases over time and even very quickly. If you look at the chart below, you will see that the capitalization of gold in 2022 was only $12 trillion but reached over $18 trillion in 2024 and will definitely continue to increase in the future. Meanwhile, bitcoin's market cap has doubled and while that sounds exciting, it's actually only increased by $1 trillion in that same time.

The possibilities of it happening are much and it won’t be something of surprise when we see it happen soon. Bitcoin has already gotten an edge in terms of financial freedom when compared to other traditional payment systems. The value in it has an asset has now made it be on a competitive advantage with other top assets in the world that one can invest into. The bitcoin market is very volatile but still has a competitive advantage over real estates and gold that have been existing for many years now. Real estate hasn’t also lost its relevance and very soon, we may see a shift to bitcoin and a more balances investment in both of them. The volatile nature of bitcoin doesn’t make it more reliable, but it is an investment that is worth investing into with less risk.

I'm responding to this thread base on the title of the thread. The future is unpredicted and you can't tell if bitcoin can become world biggest investment.  Let just concentrate on bitcoin in this era and try to make advantage over it. Invest in it now, don't wait for the future before to invest ,waiting to know if bitcoin will be the biggest investment by then. All I can say is that bitcoin is doing greatly as an asset , so it is possible for it to be one of the biggest investment for the future.

The future is unpredictable, anything can happen and we can make any predictions we want. But we need to be realistic that bitcoin has not even surpassed gold, let alone surpassed the real estate market, which is considered the largest capitalization market in the world.

Don't think too much about the future of how bitcoin will happen but think about how for now we can take an approach in making the best investment ever. No one can predict the future and that will make people lose interest in starting now. Bitcoin has provided certainty for the best investment issue that can hedge and at least in the last few years there has been so much progress achieved by bitcoin.

No one knows for sure what the future of bitcoin will be but if you look at the current developments bitcoin will become one of the most sought after assets by most people because bitcoin has provided certainty in many ways especially for investments that can maintain the value of the money we put in it.

We have currently gained several times more than the total crypto marketcap in the last bull run and if this trend continues in the future, we will soon be able to see its amount several times more. I have seen that many people in the Forex market are now more comfortable with crypto. It already is the best investment, it has been the best performing asset over the last 15 years. To be the biggest investment in the world we need to see the market cap surpass Golds. It will happen but it might be in the 2030’s.

There are still many countries in the world where Bitcoin is not directly approved. Bitcoin is a digital currency and currently the amount of investment in this digital currency has increased a lot and gradually the popularity of this coin is increasing worldwide. If every country in the world approves Bitcoin then I believe Bitcoin will become the most reliable digital currency for investment. But now even if the amount of investment in this digital currency increases, the media will not take this issue very seriously because Bitcoin has not moved globally like the dollar. But I believe in future people will invest in this bitcoin with much reliability.

Of course it will, I think in the next 10-20 years Bitcoin gonna become the world biggest investment, if we talk about the market cap. Right now Bitcoin market cap is $2 Trillion, if we assume every 4 years the market cap will be doubled, it took around 16 years to make it $32 Trillion, higher than gold market cap.

Now regards popularity it's really unlikely Bitcoin is going to become the top 1 in the world, because it's just too risky and volatile for most investors. Common sense goes for safer routes, like fixed passive income methods offered by banks (even though it's unprofitable) and conservative investments like real estate, which is also a very good alternative. People aren't willing to see their assets melting 20%-50% in a matter of days in crypto market.

For me, real estate is still at the top when it comes to investment. Yes, the capital that you need in real estate is quite high (unless you will invest into REITS), but the reward in the long run can be good and it can give you passive income through rental income. As for Bitcoin, it can go as high as real estate since it's appreciating in price because of the limited supply, but right now, there's no certainty on it yet. Bitcoin is still on the adoption stage so thinking like this is for me, a bit early.

I was actually thinking the same with Op, but one thing we should know is that nothing last forever I think we are still in the era of bitcoin, well if you ask me about bitcoin being the biggest and the best investment in the world? I must say that the question is very technical because if you look at other investment out there you will discover that, that same risk involved in bitcoin investment is also applicable in other investment. is it the price not being stable? Like others have said on the thread, it’s a relative subject. Some people will prefer gold or real estate to investing in bitcoin and they might just be as successful at it.
