In an earthquake, there is a p-wave, which is the preliminary shake, and the s-wave, the secondary shaking. The p-wave in an earthquake isn't as strong generally as the s-wave, but can be more obviously felt. Especially by cats, who're vibration sensitive.

Animals are smart they tend to run away far faster than humans when a disaster appears

I heard cats have feelings for humans... noooo I'm joking !
People that love cats are very submissive most of the time as they are the everyday slave of their cat(s).
Agree to you. Dogs have owners, cats have slaves. but cats in comparison with dogs live their own life, they don't miss you as dogs do and don't demand your love and care so much. You won't hurt a cat by your everlasting absence. It will always feel fine.
Of course cats miss u when you're gone. Everyday my cat wakes up just minutes before the time my wife arrives home from work. When she comes in the door, my cat start meowing none stop until my wife stops to give him some attention. Yes, my cat misses my wife and is very happy when she comes home.

lool that's what the cat want you to believe.

The cat just want the free food and do the least possible.

You work for him... for free.

Well ,when you decide to have a pet, doesn't matter if is a cat or dog ,you have to know that it comes with responsibility and money spend on food, toys etc. That doesn't meat you work for them …...and if it was really that then a my cat works for me too when it makes me laugh and distress me.

Sitting on the couch watching tv while the cats sleep on the bed. All of a sudden their heads go up like gophers and take of running. Next thing I know a 5.1 earthquake struck here in California. I though it was so crazy that my cats felt the quake before it happened.

It is really not that unusual for animals to be able to sense that kind of events. Their senses are much more sharp than senses of ordinary human. They can hear better and feel micro shocks of incoming earthquakes.

Cats and dogs are able to hear a wider range of sounds. A normal human can hear sounds ranging in frequency from 20Hz to 23 KHz, while a cat can hear sounds which range from 45 Hz to 64KHz.

Yes but maybe animals just can feel it some how without scientific explanations? Like how birds know where to fly when they need to due the weather changing..

That is interesting indeed.  I suspect if domesticated animals can have such heightened senses then wild animals are likely to be in the same boat but probably have an even higher ability too be aware of such events.

I think most of the animals can just like knowing where to go when colder weather is about to come or just weather change is about to come.

When there is war many animals will leave that area because of the noise and sense of danger.

I heard that cats can sense asteroids flying through space near earth. Also they can cure cancer and AIDS just by sitting on your lap and purring with certain wave frequency. But I did not hear about them sensing earthquakes. Floods yes, earthquakes definitely not.
Stop trolling. You're not funny.

I laughed at the first sentence but it dropped sharply in quality after that. I invisioned an asteroid flying past earth and a load of cats just simultaneously stopping what they were doing to just look up at the sky to see it pass then carry on with their business haha.

'Tend' doesn't sound very scientific. You got any sources on this? I've never heard of it but the noise of something could scare them off.
Well I haven't done enough research on the subject. This is just what I've heard from other people and in the news (which often give wrong info).
Here are some articles:

This is true. Usually when a disaster as such happens, no animals get harmed.
No animals get harmed? I think cats and such can probably just feel the vibrations before we can.
They tend to leave the area which gets struck by disaster. I think that almost every animal can sense this. The question is how.

This says no http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can-animals-predict-disaster/tall-tales-or-true/131/

If you mean seconds before, I would guess animals lower to the ground can feel/hear the vibrations first.

Yeah, lower center of gravity, plus animals are covered in hairs that can probably sense vibrations with them easier.

I heard cats can sense all types of dangers, like they have sixth sense like spider man?
Cats, along with other domestic and wild animals, seem to sense impending natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis. Scientists can't fully explain this phenomenon. However they emphasize this isn't a paranormal sixth sense but an example of how animals receive sensory data beyond the range of human perception

In 1975, Haicheng, China, a city of 1 million, experienced a 7.3-magnitude earthquake. The city experienced foreshocks for days and months prior to the quake, and behavior of local animals in the days before was telling. Snakes came out of hibernation in the middle of winter to flee, people witnessed restless behavior among animals -- and the city took notice. Haicheng evacuated just days before the disaster, potentially saving more than 100,000 lives. The animals of Haicheng may have been responding simply to foreshocks that everyone felt, or foreshocks that humans couldn't perceive. Whatever the case, the animals responded first, and people followed their lead.

It  could feel the P-Waves or Primary Waves. These are much less noticeable than S-Waves or Secondary Waves and Surface Waves which occur a short time later in that order.
+1
But the time window between cats reaction and disaster is actually very small and depends on the position of the epicenter.
It's not like you're going to see cats flee from the city 1 week before the disaster.

yeah, sure cat feels it and runs like hell to save his own ass Longitudinal waves travel through the Earth faster than transverse waves, and the longitudinal waves hit first. Transverse waves are responsible for most of the shaking and damage...
