Not worth trying if you are going to use the free AWS EC2 read the terms below.

You may not use AWS Services under any Offers to mine for cryptocurrency. If you use AWS Services under an Offer to mine for cryptocurrency, we may charge you standard rates for your use of the AWS Services, and we may suspend your right to access or use any portion or all of the Service Offerings.

If you are paying then it still not worth mining on AWS. Much better invest in buying ASIC or GPU compared to paying AWS EC2 service.

But it is extremely unprofitable.

e.g. I have been mining XMR on a few dozen cores for a few weeks and I have only made about $20 in total (and don't even get me started on the unprofitability of BTC mining).

You will be paying more for the VPS than the amount you make, so you are essentially mining at a loss.

Pretty much all CPU mining is done at a loss anyway, the best it can do is limit hosting bills by utilizing idle compute power.
I'm guessing your CPU power is a Xeon processor? Why don't you start mining verus and Epic cash instead? These are the two most profitable altcoins to mine on CPU right now, way better than mining Monero

I have many aws ec2 VPS. Please let me know if I can do mining and can make some money. Your help will be appreciated.

Mining Bitcoin on GPUs has been obsolete for several years now. Even with thousands of free instances, it wouldn't be worth your time.
