Trying to mine on a smart phone is like trying to travel the world by foot. No matter if you buy the latest and most powerful smart phone in the market, you will never be able to earn more than a few cents and that too after months of continuous mining if not years.
Grin Altho, you will get more experience about cultures/people/countries/yourself from traveling around the world by foot Smiley

Mining bitcoin is stupid unless you have an ASIC which costs thousands of dollars. You will waste more money on electricity to charge your phone than you will get from mining.

Yes you can, But it's wasting your data, Battery power and it's not good for phone. Then don't do it. If you wanna mine buy a gaming PC.

I don't have expertise in mining but I am going to say a big NO. Don't bother trying, you're wasting your time and money trying to do it.

If you haven't heard yet, Electroneum will launch it's mobile miner soon. It's nor a real mining but rather mobile simulation, but you will be able to ear real ETN coins, so it may be worth a shot.

Here is some more info:

Mining cryptographic functions is very memory and cup intensive,
It's not meant for mobile devices. You need to purchase specialized hardware if
I plan on making any profit from mining.

Bitcoin mining is a serious business now and we should leave it for those who treat it in that way. Now-a days, mining is not only bad deal for mobile but also for the CPU and GPUs too considering the difficulty and other costs associated with the process.

P.S - Do not considering mobile mining and also stay away from cloud mining because these companies either end up as a scam or loss making entities.
what other coin is best to mine using mobile without causing excessive overheating?

I suggest to don't try it at all. Or you can study phoneum,It's an ico with mobile mining .I don't know if It's good because I'm not interested in it

Just cut the crap go sell the phone, buy bitcoins, and be done with it!
Trying to "mine" its just wasting time, phone life, electricity and nerves and it's not even worth it.

Better go look for Electroneum.

In theory: Yes you can.
BUT
Another question is. Will you mine anything?  ... the answer is NOT.

Don't try it at all. Not even the hi-end CPUs and GPUs are able to compete with ASICs in BTC mining.
You can try some altcoins but that's very same story.

You simply can't mine anything with your "plastic shovel" while huge excavators are mining all around you.

i have purchased Xiaomi mi 6 about a month ago and its specification are:
OS:           Android 7.1.1 (Nougat)
Chipset:   Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835
CPU:        Octa-core (4x2.45 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo)
GPU:          Adreno 540
Battery:   Non-removable Li-Po 3350 mAh battery
now i want to use it to mine bit coin. so what do you guys suggest me to do, should i mine on it or not? or which currency will be suited for mining on it. whether it will overheat my smart phone in that case what to do?
Please help me!
