You can mine the following coins with 4gb memory, Ethereum Classic, Equilibria, Conceal, ravencoin, Zano, Flux, Super sero and many more, all you have to do is find the one that's most profitable for your GPU, or you can download nicehash it will automatically choose the most profitable coin for your GPU

Mine ETC and swap to ETH if you plan to mine and hold, if you have Rx AMD cards you can download lolminer and try it out with ETH mining, not sure if it's still works though, good luck

Is etheruem classic the same hashrate as ether?
Etheruem classic will have a higher hash rate and any motherboard is suitable for mining. If you have 5 or more video cards, then you need to buy special motherboards and an expensive multi-core processor so that the PCI-e port speeds are 8x 8x 8x 8x 8x for Ethereum mining.
I'm too lazy to do this for one farm, so I mine Ravencoin (RVN) or etheruem classic

Basically ETC rolled back the DAGs so its less than 4GB so you will get the full speed which should be around 28MH/s if you are mining ETC. If you mine ETH right now with that card you will get like 5MHs or slower or won't work at all.

The issue with ETC is that its not very profitable. You get like $6 a day with ETH but with ETC you get less than $2 a day. So its better than nothing but keep in mind that ETC had a huge pump this week. A few weeks bad it was like $0.50 a day or so. So mine while its still profitable.

Can a 4gb card be used to mine ether?
To mine Ethereum, you need to use a Linux system like Hive OS.
If you have one video card, it is better to mine Ethereum classic, because you do not need to change anything in your computer.
My 5x474 farm is mining Ethereum classic now, because I don't want to buy an expensive motherboard with Pci-e 8x8x8x8x8x

What is your plan with Ethereum? Do you want to mine and hold? If yes there is only one way around this, mine other profitable coin for your GPU and swap the coin for ETH, right now Raven coin, turtle coin and Ethereum Classic are very profitable for 4gb mem GPUs

Yes if the card is rx570 or rx580 using lolminer and zombie mode do research on that if you have any of those cards and NO if you have other cards most especially if it's Nvidia, the best you can do with such cards now is mine Ethereum Classic, don't worry much this ETC is also very profitable right now

You can mine Ethereum Classic with a 4GB card. ETC's price recently shot up and it is now almost as profitable to mine as Ethereum.

A couple of weeks ago people still managed to mine ETH with a 4GB video card using special software and putting the GPU in the main PCIe 3.0 x16 slot of the motherboard. This means you can't use a riser and needs to be inside the actual motherboard slot. You can only do this on one GPU per motherboard.

Go and search for lolminer software and there are tips and instructions on how to get this done. If you got more than 1 GPU you can put it in the other 3.0 x8 slot however both will run slower however it will still work. ETH is still profitable to its actually worth the effort. However you can't do this if you only got like 1 motherboard and 6 GPUs.
