Did anyone here claimed their bitcoin sv first before they claimed their bitcoin cash?  I assume that is very rare?

I only claimed bitcoin cash a while back but didn't claim bitcoin gold, sv or ecash or diamond.

Hello,

I had 5 BTC in my Electrum wallet at the time of the hard fork which created Bitcoin Cash in August 2017, meaning I can still claim my 5 Bitcoin Cash if I'm correct.
But can I also claim my 5 Bitcoin SV right after this? Or do I not get those 5 Bitcoin SV since I had no Bitcoin Cash at the moment of the fork in November 2018?

Anyone?
This thread remind me about the BCH in my wallet that i forgot. I found this tutorial from exodus, you can get your BCH and BSV in your old wallet with exodus: https://support.exodus.io/article/1025-how-do-i-split-bch-bsv-held-on-another-wallet

I don't think you can claim the Bitcoin SV anymore. The wallet snapshot was taken in August 2017, we are now in 2020! I don't know any platform that offered much long time for fork something or swap! You missed the chance, maybe you did not bother at that time! As your wallet did not split the BSV from BCH coin automatically, then there is no chance to split now and get BSV! I would suggest you, use a wallet that can save your time and work!

August 2017 was the date when the hard fork happened. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) split from the Bitcoin Blockchain on that date. Up to 2017 August, the Blockchain log is same for BCH, BSV and BTC. So if you have Bitcoins in your wallets before that date, you can claim an equivalent amount of BCH and BSV. And there is no time limit for this. You can claim after 5 or 10 years as well, as no one is going to move these coins. However, if your BTC is not that old, then they may not have the forked coins with them (i.e later than 2017 August).

Does electrum wallet support for every hard fork coin like bitcoin cash and BSV coin? I think right now hard fork only support with several exchange market like bittrex, binance and huobi when have moment with bitcoin or altcoin hard fork, if you don't yet for claiming your hard fork with BSV how to claim this hard fork on your wallet?

Anyone still wanting to split BCH/BSV using Coinomi is welcome to read our official instructions here: https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000026274-bch-abc-bsv-fork-information-splitting . Feel free to open a support ticket on that site if any specific guidance is still needed.

Here you go https://electrum.org/#download
Update your electrum and try again with electron cash.

I downloaded the newest version of Electrum and after that still the same error message "version too old" when opening the Electrum wallet into the Electron Cash wallet.

Even after restarting my laptop, still the same. How can this be?

I think one of the wallets is one version forward from the other one. You can try to download an older version of electron cash and see if it will work.
If you're up for the task you can also use Exodus wallet to claim your coins but this will require you to import your bitcoin private keys into the wallet.

Here's how you do it

I am certainly willing to share an address with you, so you can check for me.

However I'm not sure what address you want from me.....is it just my current receiving address of the wallet which had 5BTC in it on 1st August 2017? Even if there have been many transactions since and there is 0.1 mbtc on it now?

Or does it have to be an address I used to receive funds around the time of 1st August 2017?

If you can make this clearer for me I am happy to give you my receiving address so that you can check for me!
Yes, the address with 5 bitcoins on it. But as instructed to you, you can easily check the address for BCH's and BSV's explorer and validate if there's a balance for that address. Post the address it here so that everybody can see and confirm it. Don't give your private keys to anyone here, just the address okay because there might be people that think you're not aware of it and might ask you confidential information like that and you shouldn't give it to them. Just the public address.

You can still get your BSV and BCC now because your wallet is qualified. I think for fastest support, you should contact these 2 projects support team and claim your coins.

Oh shut, you just reminded me that I still have BCH and BSV from my Bitcoins Smiley Would you recommend any secure wallets which I can use in order to get my BCH and BSV?

If you have electrum the easiest way to get b-cash is with electron cash. Then your bcash will have sv attached to it and you can send it all to a wallet that splits it for you like exodus. Once you have bcash on exodus you press one button and it claims your sv and adds balance to a separate walet.

But since it's been too long since then and I doubt everything has stopped, try to request for it and see how the results will look. And I wonder why you didn't do this earlier, was there a problem with you or not?

What has stopped? Time does not matter. Forked coins don't disappear!
Many people did not do it earlier because they were afraid that early wallets are bugged and will change their bitcoin balance. Many people lost Bitcoins trying to claim forks.

In fact, you can still request to receive BCH and BSV if you held your Bitcoin before the hark fork occurred. It has to be the Bitcoin address you had since 2017 that held coins when the fork happened.
That Bitcoin address can be used to check if you have b-cash.

Could you show us that address so that we can see on BCH and BSV network if you have the balance there. And in case that you want to claim your BCH, move first your 5 BTC to another bitcoin wallet before the importing. Since you have the BCH tutorials, I think it would be easier for you to claim BSV using exodus.

Yes you can still claim your fork, all you have to do is find wallets that support all these forks, the wallets i know of are coinomi, i did claimed mine with coinomi wallet, you can use trust or atomic as well
This is very interesting, because I have never used the wallet provided by Coinomi, and it doesn't hurt if I try to use the coinomi wallet, especially since the wallet can help everyone in claiming a fork.

Coinomi is not the easiest way to claim BSV because they don't support automatic splitting. If you sweep a BCH address into Coinomi you will send all your SV along and even if you had an SV address set up beforehand, the coins won't appear there automatically, like they do on some exchanges that do the split for you.
Check out the coinomi guide to claiming BSV, there's a number of things you have to do like send some already split BCH coins to your wallet to mix with the unsplit BCH and so on.

for some reason, it seems to me that you will not receive any Bitcoin cash because too much time has passed and now they simply will not do anything. most likely this is not even technically possible because wallet snapshots were taken in 2017 and how are you going to prove after three years that you really had 5 bitcoins? just forget it. nobody will give you your bitcoin cash.

You've just proven with this post that this is a bought account. I can't believe that someone who's been active on this forum for years could speak such nonsense.

I think all coin hard fork is automatically received in your wallet depend which one exchange do you hold your altcoin assets before, when hard fork between Bitcoin cash and BSV doing automatically without have claimed first and every one hold bitcoin cash in support exchange wallet can received BSV depend with how many BCH keep holding.

This is nonsense. It's nothing to do with time passed at all.

Everything on the blockchain prior to the fork is still there after the fork in each of the new forked chains. So anyone who had coins prior to all the forks can still claim them all.

You should because you had Bitcoins in your private wallet in a time of fork. Your lucky day, right? 1200USD profit for just holding Bitcoins in a wallet, it is time to exchange it for real BTC before BSV crash again.  Wink

My Bitcoin was in Coinbase app wallet when the BCH fork happened, I got BCH automatically by 1:1 ratio. The same thing happened when the BSV fork came, I got BSV automatically. So, if you were holding Bitcoin Cash since August 2017 and never claimed it before, then yes you can still claim your BSV!

Yes you are right if your bitcoin cash balance is zero, when the bitcoin cash hard fork happened at November 15th 2018 you are not eligible to claim the bitcoin ABC and bitcoin SV.

Quote
BSV is a cryptocurrency created as a result of Bitcoin Cash hard fork (actually, it was introduced a little bit prior to the fork – in August 2018). On November 15th, the blockchain has officially split into two competing coins – Bitcoin ABC (Adjustable Blocksize Cap) and Bitcoin SV (Satoshi Vision).

Try to show your BTC address, or you can check it yourself here : https://blockchair.com in my opinion you will still get BSV, if you really have a balance in 2017 before august , I checked mine with findmycoins.ninja but there was an error, then I tried it with blockhcair, apparently I have BSV.

Allright so I have to download this Electron Cash wallet, then choose "use existing seed" and enter the seed phrase of my Electrum wallet which had the 5BTC on it at 1st August 2017. At the moment my balance is just a fraction of 1 mbtc so there is no risk to this IMO. All correct?

This thread is turning into a chat Cheesy

You don't have to play with seeds. I did that a long time ago but it's enough to install electron cash and then click "file" and "open" and then choose your existing wallet file from electrum. Usually it's in appdata/roaming/electrum

Also remember not to move BCH to an exchange that isn't supporting BSV for you because you will move both BCH and BSV and could lose BSV. You can use Electron SV to get SV once you have BCH and split it from BCH. BCH/SV coins don't have replay protection. Sending one will also send the other unless you split first.

Did what you told me, then a message popped up: "Cannot load wallet: this version of Electrum is too old to open this Wallet"

Okay,

I copied my current receiving address from the same wallet that had 5btc on it at the time of the 1st August 2017 Fork, but the result was 0 BTC, 0 BTCcash and 0 BTSV. What does this mean?
I'm 100% sure my balance was 5 BTC the whole day of 1st August 2017 and also the days before and after. I can proved this with a screenshot of my Electrum wallet with all transactions and dates in this.

Can you show the address here? Just copy the address and paste it in this thread.

You can always install electron cash and it will show you all your BCH if you have any. It's probably the easiest way if you already have all coins in Electrum.
https://electroncash.org/

For safety move all your Bitcoins before sending your BCH anywhere. You can use electron cash to check on the addresses but don't send any transactions until you move BTC from the addresses with BCH.

By "your bitcoin address" you mean just any random receiving address belonging to the wallet that had Bitcoins on it at 1st August 2017?
Yes. If the address had Bitcoins on it before and after that date it forked into BCH and then that BCH forked into BSV. It happened even if bitcoins were moved a few days later in August 2017. BCH remained on that address and later forked into BSV.

Also, why do you say "if you had bitcoins on your wallet before 1st August 2017? I suppose I would have to have then in my wallet AT 1st August 2017, right?
If I had 10 bitcoins on July 31st but sent them away the same day, I will not get anything from that in terms of the Bitcoin Cash Fork, right?

Yes at that exact date at #478559 so you have to check what time that was for you. If your Bitcoins were sent out on the July 31st you almost certainly don't have any forked coins but it won't hurt to paste the address to blockchair and see for yourself.
