I have a couple 7950's and i am wondering if I can use these in x1 slots, without any performance reduction, or any hardware problems.
Will it draw the same wattage? will i get the same Kh/s? will it even work?

The bandwidth requirements are very low, it's a processor intensive process, so x1 will work just fine.
Powered risers themself wont affect the power taken from the PSU. It only reroutes-electricity.
As far as I know one 7950 takes 200w/card. So 1000W PSU should be ok to use four of them.

Depends on level of overclocking and if you undervolt the 7950 or not. My 7950s pull closer to 250w per card, but they are overclocked and NOT under-volted (linux).
Just be sure to use powered risers if you already have two non-powered cards in your rig.

some of those hair-thin copper-wirings on your MB. Unless you use powered risers, in witch case you are safe.

Good advice. Some people get away with 3 cards before needing powered risers, but you can always be safe rather than sorry. whats the advantage of these cables. So I dont need to use the PCI slot on my motherboard I can just use the USB slot ?
The advantage is the quality of the cable: it's more flexible, less chances of breaking solder joints, cable is longer for spacing GPUs further apart, etc. You still have to use the PCI-e slot on your motherboard. This doesn't bridge anything to USB, it simply uses a USB cable to carry the PCI-e signals. It's an improved version of the original PCI-e riser cable.

what impact will the powered risers have on the PSU ? OP is now going to use 3 cards which means a PSU of at least 1000W is needed ? will having a Gold Standard PSU lead to a faster ROI ?

Absolutely. You just need 1x to 16x riser cables. It will draw the same wattage, you'll get the same Kh/s and yes it will work, I do it all the time.
