The BIOS is the limiting factor on older motherboards for how many cards you can run. In mining mode cards only need to be connected to PCIE 1x through risers and use very little bandwidth.

The Card in the x16 will run fine.
Problem could be the bios. Seems you have to try it....

Hey guys, I got an old pc with the mobo on the following link https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-945PL-S3P-rev-66#ov , it has 1 (16x) & 3 (1x) pcie, problem is I think they're version 1.0, my question is can I install gtx 1070ti s or rx580s on those ports? if yes, is there a limit on how many I can install? and eventually will the hashrate be lower with this low performance system?
