Maybe the miners will agree. And the commission will decrease. But bitcoin technology lags behind in any case  Wink

No, you were wrong completely, the fee is only one element to carry out the transaction, it represents the priority of the transaction, it is not the decisive factor, to reduce the cost of the transaction. Transaction, we need to have larger block number, and segwit is needed...

This fee is insane! it's pretty huge amount of fee than the amount of the transaction! maybe it is network error, just try another transaction or just reload your browser then and try again if not then do transaction in another time.

Wallet is probably having an issue deciding a good fee for this sort of problem, that's something that you'd have to be taking up with your wallet support company who'd probably be happy to fix this up - as a $20 fee just doesn't make sense in the least and isn't going to help anyone. Though I doubt this sort of problem would even be present if people were to just sit down with the miners and get an agreement going where the network congestion is fixed and the miners are still able to make good money-- like they've always wanted to.

I have sent this one lately:

https://blockchain.info/tx/8fba04a967d50d61836b4b53142599471b9621dfdb872d34df130a0765378a91

0.01737 sent with a fee of 0.000052 (10.678 sat/B )

worked, got through and confirmed.

I dunno what all this whining is all about. If you don't want to pay a high fee, don't fraggin do it!

This high fees has become a big problem recently, people who earn small bit from faucet or others is unevitable and got dust in their wallet
With so many dust, the fees will be higher even if it just for small transaction,i hope this problem will be solved soon and make people not to lose interest in using bitcoin

the faucet era is over for good no matter what happens with the fees i think. i really hope they'll reduce significantly but they'll never go back to microscopic amounts unless something radical happens.

dude i have a good feeling that you are using the blockchain wallet sorry if you are not but I will advice that everyone switch to another crypto currencies or switch to manual fees because when my wallet was showing me a high fees for a decent transaction then I just payed around 0.0002btc for that transaction which was like 0.0155btc anyway it took me around 2-3hours to get me the 3confirmations so its more than enough for me because I just need the bitcoins to get converted in a currency I use and guess what I am still not effected with those heavy fees.

and now we are back to my problem.... i want to send the rest of my funds to blockchain and i got his abnormal fee request.
and i cant find a way to import a privat key on blockchain after they changed the layout / template
Why import if you use Core wallet?

Does this still work on Blockchain.info: Go to Settings > Address > Import addresses ?

Omg, That fee is too high than high priority fees, 38,45$ It's abnormal fee. You should quit your wallet and transfer all your funds in blockchain for example. As i did.
From the beginning when i start to make profit by collected some bitcoin, I use Xapo wallet to store my bitcoin, which xapo pay fees for us (users). but now xapo team start to set regular fees which it's too high fees, so i decided to quit them and create a blockchain wallet.

your wallet decides the fee, not the network. if you have private keys then you can export them to another wallet with fee control.

it's also possible your tx is made up of tons of small transactions in which case it's always gonna cost. a 1000 btc transaction with one input costs less than 0.001 with two.
Correct. I would also recommend to you to check the options, probably the fee is so high, cause of you used fast transaction option, look for regular transaction which is provided during 1+ h and costs much less. Good luck!

Current fee to get it into the next block would be 300 satoshi/byte
Why do people keep using that site? They seem to favour miners instead of users.
https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx shows 40 sat/byte is enough for an instant transaction, 20 sat/byte is still very fast.
Point taken.  To be fair, I did mention that you could pay much less and it would get confirmed.

Maybe you should try this recommendation if you have no other alternative.  Hope the problem of crazy fees is solved soon.

https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx shows 40 sat/byte is enough for an instant transaction, 20 sat/byte is still very fast.

https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions shows 8700 Unconfirmed Transactions and only 0.169 BTC in fee for 4128 kB. That's 40 sat/byte on average. Most will be much lower, and some will be 300 sat/byte and more (this is the default setting in many wallets now).

yeah this ammount was collected from faucets. checked again. all funds are just from 4 transactions.
my wallet is the basic core wallet for debian. v14.x
On the Send tab, under "Transaction Fee": select custom, set 0.2 mBTC (0.0002 BTC) per kilobyte, see what it says. You can probably get away with 0.1 too on a quiet Sunday. You'll only risk getting stuck if the fees go up, in that case it will confirm next Sunday.

right now mycelium is wanting about $22 off me for a high priority tx with 15 inputs. that fee is possible if he has a bunch of them.

i know perfectly well that i could get it all through for less than $1 right now by the sounds of it but mycelium won't allow that.
I stopped using Mycelium for this exact reason. Many wallets are competing with eachother on fees, if they all set a higher fee, it only means we all pay more, and we're all still waiting. The basic principle of paying for priority is gone when everybody pays more by default.

That's too high fees for a small transaction. But as many have said it depends on how you got the money. If you really want to pay less for a transaction and won't care about getting confirmations faster then changing your wallet is preferred.

im trying to send a "small" amount of 0.00975429 btc which represents more than 20 dollars atm.

Wtf 20$ fees ridiculous which wallet is this and ya sadly you can't do anything about the fees once it says you have to pay, there is no option what you could do is differ the payment that's the only way I see it. But I must say I am indeed disappointed to hear that, I wish some one is able to give you some solution, but have you rechecked once again I am sure there is something wrong I yet feel.

Current fee to get it into the next block would be 300 satoshi/byte, or 67,000 satoshi for the median size of transaction (one input).  That would be 0.0006 BTC.

Currently you can get away with paying about ten times less than that, or 0.00006, and it would still get confirmed after a few hours.

The most likely cause is shitloads of tiny inputs (to get that 0.009, you could have accepted 0.0005 a lot of times for example).

That's $38 for a fee right now, I don't think that it should be displaying that as a required fee. That would be fucking insane. See if you can modify the transaction fee manually, and if you can't then there must be something up with whatever wallet you're using because there is no reason for that kind of fee to be applied to your transaction. Maybe a fee that was a thirty-th of that, but it shouldn't be asking for $40 for a $20 transaction.

It's unbelievable, it's like a robbery, a legal robbery, and you're helpless about what's going on. I have never met the same case. What is the purse you are using? I think you should quickly remove it.

That fee is higher than it should be. Which wallet are you using?

Did you received a lot of dust payments? For example, multiple low payments from faucets? If so, that's probably the reason your wallet is suggesting you to pay that much in fees.
